Bobbin lace making technique is made by braiding and twisting lengths of thread wound on bobbins. It was evolved from passementerie or braid-making in 16th-century Italy. Bobbin lace making is also known as pillow lace and bone lace. It is one of the major categories of handmade laces. In this technique weaving is held in place with pins set in a lace pillow.
