We're riding from about 29th and E over to Park Blvd, and have to bob and weave to stay on the safest path. Along the way, we don't have any conflicts with drivers, but it's noticeable that there's a FedEx truck in the bike lane, as well as an MTS contractor.
The gap in the bike lane at Pershing and the 5 is what really gets me. A driver hit a pedestrian there not too long ago, and that's because the infrastructure allows it.
Thanks for watching.
These videos can be scary, but please know that my goal isn't to deter people from riding bikes in San Diego, but to show the real-world conditions. Sometimes it's pleasant, sometimes it's just fine, and other times there's tension and conflict.
The roads in San Diego should be safe and accessible to everyone without the use of a car. My hope is that these videos help those in power make better decisions for all our safety. I also believe that the more people who decide to ride, the safer the roads will become.
Please remember to support your local bike safety and mobility advocacy organizations, like BikeSD (bikesd.org/), the San Diego County Bike Coalition (sdbikecoalition.org/) and Circulate San Diego (www.circulatesd.org/)

@MrRollingEgo What I wouldn't give to have a city like the ones you have other there!

one time I was talking with a government transit official who was really befuddled when I explained that it's really confusing when I go to other cities in socal and I can find where all the bike lanes end and begin. Like if I'm on vacation I wouldn't want to bike places in other cities

I know of one of our local politicians who rides a bike regularly. It would help if more people who worked in the city also rode.

Seeing this POV is so frightening, especially on that concrete slab slippery slope. The way these streets are designed is dangerous for drivers, riders and pedestrians. A street should be safe for people, no matter their travelling option. A pedestrian and bicycle safe street is safer for drivers too. Why drivers are so angry about making streets better for them as well?

That 2-way ending in a one-way is so dumb, why wasn't it extended up to that next intersection where people like yourself obviously want to go?

It's especially dumb when there is another downtown network of two-way bike paths like 7 blocks down that same street.

I think you should share stories from your experiences or other sources while riding your bike rather than talking about the street map which only people living in that city only would relate to.

I appreciate that feedback, and I'll try my best to pepper in other commentary. But this channel's primary mission is to show the experience of riding in San Diego so that the people living here (including the local politicians) can see the experiences and advocate for improvements. That said, there other sources I can try to reference, and I will.
