@@bleeding4721Cliff Barnes was far from innocent at that point. He had an explosion set off on an off shore oil rig that he knew his pregnant daughter was on at the time and had kept Pam’s death a secret for over 20 years just to prevent Christopher from inheriting her shares of the company.
JR knew Bobby never came to him and asked anything of him because he knew Bobby was more than capable of handling himself, probably better than JR himself (Bobby did win the fight for Ewing Oil)
There was an early season 1or 2 episode set in JR’s office where a character made a threatening remark about Bobby. JR immediately slapped him with the back of his hand and said “Don’t you ever threaten my brother or any other Ewing”. That was always a storyline trademark; they’d fight like hell among themselves but would always have each other’s back against outsiders”
@@robertscott8344He hated Gary because his mother favoured him the most and scorner J.R. most of the time it was like getting back at her. Ray was a jerk to J.R long before they were brothers and stole his spot as Ewing eldest and he wasn't Ellie son.
When JR tells u not to worry... be sure u don't have to worry, then that perfect sinister look at the end. PURE JR! I don't care how old he was he was force in itself at any age. RIP Larry. ♥
@Scott Smith it's a strange thing.....he runs around and they still stay married. I knew a married womanizer and he bedded a lot of gorgeous women. But when the chips were down and he had terminal cancer, all the bimbos were gone and the only one who was there for him..... was his wife. I do not profess to understand it but Mr. Hagman with all his foils and troubles did treat those around him with kindness.
JR would do anything to gain power, including fucking over his own family. But if you take it upon yourself to fuck with a Ewing then God and all of his angels couldn't save you from the wrath of JR
Iconic characters and this is really a touching scene. After all the disagreements, the fighting, when it came down to it, JR wouldn't hesitate to help his little brother. Oh he could do bad things to Bobby but that didn't mean anyone else could.
I recently watched an episode in which Bobby was lying comatose in a hospital after having cancer removed. J.R. came in and told him that he loved him.
You know something is going down when old JR get that look in his eye. Even from the grave he found a way to to give someone the shaft. Even if its for a good cause. In the end he saved the entire family from their enemies.Only JR Ewing had one last ace trick up his sleeve. And man it was a good one.
The look on Bobby's face at 0:06 ... "Damnit I have ULCERS as a result of this kind of life that JR has forced us all to live thru over the last 30 years, but damnit .. sometimes he's right .. & THIS time, I NEED him to F--- somebody up for me. I can't believe I'm getting ready to ask him this....".
Funny how the biggest TV bastards are often the nicest people off screen (i know its acting but they seem to relish it), like Ronny Cox who normally plays Guest Bastard on many shows - seems to be Ned Flanders off screen!!
I literally cried and I never do, when JR died on the show and in real life watching Dallas from day one felt like family every Friday evening on CBS..It still bothers me to this date that Larry Hagman is gone..RIP Larry We Love And Miss You..😥❤️👍
stephenm6100 They did. Dallas: The Early Years in 1986. The beginning of Jock Ewing and Digger Barnes' partnership. It shows J.R. as a teenager and Cliff, Pam, Bobby and Gary as children.
The reboot showed the full love and compassion JR had for his family and legacy. I am so glad they continued after the original but sad that it was canceled after JRs passing. There was enough film footage to show JR in every episode.
@@robertscott8344 just stop. I mean exactly what I said without any twisting from you. Why don’t you worry about your own writing because you wrote their when it should have been there. 13 original seasons contained enough film footage of JR to flashback on the reboot series. Get with it!!! You are what is known as the “Peanut Gallery” in case you ever wondered.
"Well I've seen that look before.....you go over there to get justice, your likely to beat him to death." coming from experience, since Bobby try to drown you some year's back
Bobby and JR were interesting. They were far more alike than anyone ever realized. Both highly competitive, both loved beautiful women, both tough in their own ways. Only difference was Bobby was more volatile and violent, and JR could use his head to mess with someone. But if you think about it, Bobby had his own story. From Day 1, he was the good guy. A bit naive, but he was the one liked Ewing. Cliff Barnes, who hated all Ewings, liked Bobby. Every woman ever thought Bobby was the most genuine guy on earth. The Cartel would go to Bobby when JR was screwing them, and even when he took JR’s side and protected him, they backed off out of respect. But think about what happened. Pam divorced him, remarried, and left when she was disfigured. Katherine shoots him and tries to kill him(screw the dream season). April dies on their honeymoon. So between the seasons, reunion movies, and the new show, the onion slowly starts to get peeled off of Bobby. Oh sure, he’s still a good guy, but little by little, more and more, he starts to act like JR, or get JR’s help. At the funeral, you start to see Bobby understand JR more, and start to become Jock. And if the series went another couple of years, Bobby probably makes that full turn. Casual watchers would have said it wasn’t realistic, but die hards would have understood. Finally, to bring up JR for a second. Even if he wanted to screw Bobby out of the company, or anything else business wise, no one dare mess with his little brother. He respected Bobby ridiculously, even when Bobby beat him up, or took the company from him. Simply put, 99 percent of the world was afraid of JR, including Gary. The two that held him in line were Jock and Bobby, and he respected both. So getting this help, without JR asking what’s in it for him, is no shock.
Even though the writers never intended this, i always figured this was the day J.R. learned he was dying and that’s why he Googled himself and stories about his life. He was cooking up his final scheme against Cliff. Then Bobby walks in and asks him to nail Ryland. J.R. figures “Hell. I’ll kill two birds with one stone with this one.”
Though this new series had an unnecessary season 3 with a strong cliffhanger for a final end, it does serve justice to JR :) I never liked the ending of the original Dallas with him loosing everything and everyone. Nope.
Who knows. They ignored several things in the new series. Like the fact that Cliff realized the Ewing feud was pure bullshit and made peace with it, during that touching scene where he met Miss Ellie in the park. The original Dallas was a great series and I loved the later seasons as much as the early ones, but the greatness ended with it. I didn't like the movies afterwards and couldn't get into the new Dallas either.
I remember that scene with Miss Ellie however the truce did not last as a couple years later Cliff was trying to bring down the Ewings again when the Ewing Oil tanker colided with the Westar tanker causing a major spill in the Gulf near the end of the original series
Not that bobby up to task. But JR subject to bankrupt the guy that lent u a nickle for extra milk in the 3rd grade. Takes a special talent.JR would buy the Funeral home that got Grandma body on the day of and the body get misplaced between the home and the church🤣😆 just plain low down👍👍
I like to joke that J.R. has already dealt with Harris in the past back in '90 when they both were in the mental asylum. Granted it wasn't technically Harris, but Mitch Piliggi playing a similar character, so maybe it was Harris under a different name.
Like whom Katherine Wentworth she was an a allegedly murderer who killed Bobby during an hit and run after she shot him in the back in the seventh season finale.
Be carfull. That badguys in real life could turn out to be good guys on screen. And vica versa. Children are NOT aware of the way word attach themself to us all.
Sharon (love) Gili = GENISH. )GOLDFARD( Learn with me in class. I would write my heart on the board in the room, with chalk. Age 9. Maybe less. He looked almost exactly like Bobby. Remember it at the first meeting.
When i heard this show was coming back in 2012, i envisioned a strong healthy powerful JR Ewing. He was still running Ewing Oil and could pull off any scheme he wanted. Sadly what i got was a sick and frail Hagman (who i to this day idolize) and the character was flat broke in a nursing home with depression. I was so dissapointed. It almost seemed like he had back burner to everyone else as far as the stories went. Not a direct comparison but Donna Mills "Abby" was totally different in "Back To The CulDeSac" with no money and down on her luck while most the other characters were was they were when teh show folded only a few years earlier. Sad these TV villans get watered down. Even Joan Collins "Alexis" in Dynasty The Reunion made a soft hearted remark towards the end of the show which was totally NOT Alexis. Something about "I think we all enjoy the wars" or something to the effect
