Tate and Scase are summoned to see Area Commander Bulstrode after the incident involving the trapped workmen. From Episode 5, Series 2 (1989) London's Burning is copyright Network DVD and London Weekend Television
This really is incredibly good character acting by the guy who played Bulstrode. He had a relatively minor part but the fact he's so watchable is testament to his quality. Love the chemistry in this scene.
I hate Scase he is inept and should have been transferred long before. On the other hand Station Officer Tate was the best Guv London's Burning had Yeah ok Zorba was ok but Tate was the best out of them all he was THE GUV...
I remember the story line. Bulstrode's successor put Scase in charge of the fire HQ car park. I wonder how the likes of Scase got into the fire service when he obviously had such a dislike for people.
Sidney gets a very affectionate telling off from Bulstrode. Mere lip service really because Bulstrode knew he'd taken the right action. A total contrast to what Bulstrode said about him in the pub in front of everyone when Sidney was medically retired. "Sheer bloody professionalism"
Bulstrode, Gareth Thomas. He was in police procedurals Parkin's Patch and Sutherland's Law. Bulstrode's temper is 100% Iain Cuthbertson, who played the Procurator Fiscal.
Sad thing is there's plenty of scases in the service either ones who are the book as in the book of bollocks or the ones who wrote the book dangerous incompetent individuals
