Death is terrifying in the deeply primal way that Death SHOULD be; There's no flash, no substance, no gore or violence or mess. If he just decides that you're dead? You die. Simple as that. He brushed his shoulder and a man wordlessly, soundlessly, dropped dead. That's *horrifying*
And he's a really cool guy, even though he's a: ridiculously intimidating without having to DO anything intimidating, primordial force of nature who happens to be at LEAST as old as the end of the first organisms lifespan (probably older). Scary, but he likes that deep dish, so he's a-okay in MY book!
It’s also very interesting how Death is the only supernatural entity that Dean doesn’t blatantly disrespect and is in fact quite polite towards lol. It’s a nice little extra that they added in the episode lol.
Morlanda Lamaga When I say extra I’m just referring to Dean’s subdued and polite behavior towards Death. In any other situation and against any other enemy he would just be his normal sarcastic self lol.
Isobel31Swan Very true, but I think it also has a lot to do with the fact that Dean learns almost immediately that he basically can’t fuck with Death lol. Plus he’s genuinely terrified of Death too lol.
Yeah, he deals only in facts and does his job; War, Famine and Pestilence had unnecessary fun torturing and laying waste to everyone around them (War having a town kill each other for shits and giggles, Famine feeding his own demon minions to Sam just to see him indulge himself, Pestilence playing Operation with a hospital of patients) whereas Death - the oldest - simply does what he exists to do. He knows exactly where he stands in the bigger picture of the universe and rightfully views ordinary humans like Dean as insignificant nuisances - seriously, compared to how ancient and powerful Death is, the life of any mortal creature doesn't even register or belong on the same scale, and Dean doesn't even think about refuting it because he knows it too.
Dean Winchester fights monsters demons spirits angels and called Lucifer a cockroach to his face yet he quivers in fear at the Horseman of Death you know Death is a big deal also as many said his enterance was badass. Also what they are eating is deep dish pizza.
It’s wonderful Crowley shows how he can be useful by giving Bobby the ability to walk. Love when Bobby says he hardly slept because he kept walking up and down the stairs and his legs hurt. He is adorable.
Deaths introduction is the best ever they could not have made it any better. Deaths always been a favourite character of mine. "In the end i will reap god" One of my favourite SPN quotes
Death's introduction was probably my favorite of the entire show in all honesty, I always loved his character, because not only is he impartial to everything, he is honestly true neutral, he doesn't care who wins or dies, he is trying to do his job, the only time he ever kills someone who is not going to die was in this episode when Lucifer was making him, he just wants to do what he was made to do. I think he is such an interesting character too, imagine all he's seen.
Agreed. He doesn't take the side of either Heaven or Hell because Death itself is indifferent, he deals only in facts without a care for things like righteousness or what someone deserves. He rightfully views any and all living things as almost infinitely insignficant in comparison to his age and extremely high standing in the greater scheme of the universe, even superior to the Archangels as they too aren't immune to Death's visits. He knows exactly where he stands and doesn't take unnecessary pleasure in doing what he exists to do unlike his brothers (War, Famine & Pestilence), which probably explains why he isn't vengeful for what Sam and Dean did to them as even in real life death doesn't care for conflict, hunger or illness, only that they eventually lead to him.
Yeah, this is a great episode, (although the scenes with Pestilence always gross me out.) I also agree, I know Dean and Bobby are hard on Sam because they care, and they look at it as their responsibility, but all this time Sam has been TRYING to be good, trying to do the right thing. And yeah, he's made some mistakes, but even when he was killing Lilith he thought it was to prevent the Apocalypse, and he was willing to sacrifice his own humanity to do it. Also, he had enough willpower to resist Famine while standing right in front of him, surrounded by demons practically being served up to him on a platter. He has a lot more going for him than most people give him credit for. (And I thought it was sweet that Cas was the first one to express that he had faith in Sam, that he thought it was possible.) Anyway, I can see by your notes that you've already seen the next episode if it's already up on Patreon, but I DO hope that you enjoyed it! I can't wait to see your reaction to it!
Exactly! I just Love Sam. I think he is kinda underrated as a chracter. Everytime I see polls or similarars about favourite character (with Sam, Dean and Cas) Dean is 1st, 2nd Cas and Sam is always 3rd. In my case is 1rst Sam and Dean and Cas both in 2nd. I think Sam deserves more credits
@@sofialu226 Yeah, sometimes Sam'll rate higher than Cas in polls, depending on how wide a chunk of the audience participated. But I agree he's vastly underrated. He's honestly been my favorite character since the first episode. And I feel like so much of his story, though it's technically there on the screen, doesn't get the same POV as Dean's and so a lot of people don't even really notice it.
Fun fact: Death and Pestilence are derived from the same Greek word -- Thanatos. Thanatos generally means death, but in some contexts it means a particular cause of death, i.e. a contagious disease.
I'm years late lol, but I love your reactions! A lot of people react to the writing of the show and try to predict every single thing instead of watching and feeling the feels; which in my opinion, is the soul of this show. LOVE, LOVE LOVEEEE!
I know you dont do the opening intros for season finales as part of your reactions on here...but would it be possible for you to show your reaction to The Road So Far for the next episode and just make that its own separate video?? SOOOOOO excited for you to see this season's finale!!! One of my all time fav episodes of the show
I love how death is the one entity that dean not only respects but truly fears. Considering he has fought ghost demons vamps etc. The acting by Julian as death isn’t far one of the best in tv history sad that they took his character away but honestly I love him
Death's entrance is so fucking badass! I love him so much, Julian Richings is amazing! Bobby and Dean's conversation about Sam and how Bobby believes in him and then Dean does too is so good! And how Cas was pretty much immediately on board and believed he might actually have a shot. And Death. Death himself believed that Sam could do it... Crowley giving Bobby his ability to walk back! I love it! And I love Crowley so much! (I also love the blooper from that scene...)
There is one little storyline/plot flaw: Crowley gave Dean Death's Scythe. THAT weapon could have killed Lucifer and ended their problems without sacrifcing Sam. (The Colt doesn't kill Lucifer but it did stun him, maybe long enough to kill him with the scythe. Oh well, they didn't think of this).
I don't remember exactly what else Crowley said about it, but maybe he didn't have it back when they were gearing-up to go after Lucifer? (Or even if he did, he might have held it back as an ace-in-the-hole for something else nasty, figuring that the Colt would be enough to take out Lucifer.)
I don't know how you're able to hold yourself back of watching the next episode right after this one! You have an awesome self control and will power! Or... you have already done it and you will just broadcast it in a week...
One of my Favorite eposide and Favorite character of all time ❤️ death is just creepy and old and he is really really Great 😍😍 other than castiel's first appearance.. Death has the best introduction 😍 and no.. Cas isn't human he is just very weak Cas was badass and crowley still the best demon ever 😂😍😍
