I was lucky enough to meet Bobby before a fight of his at the San Diego Coliseum. He seemed surprised when I told him I saw many of his fights on armed forces tv in the Philippines. He also seemed like a very nice humble guy and that really impressed me. And just the fact that he took the time before a fight to chat with a stranger who wished him well and hoped he regained his championship, which he did. I've always considered it an honor that I met him. A very class act.

Nobody who has ever seen Bobby in action will ever forget the beauty of his boxing combinations, I know I won't! I watched him spar with the great benny Urquidez and I was amazed at his talent always.

I remember those battles well, carnal. They fought at the Memorial Auditorium on J street. Bobby Chacon, Danny 'Little Red' Lopez and Salvador Sanchez are still heroes to me.

I'm glad all you seem to like this video! I met Bobby like a year after seeing this and it made me choke up a bit when I was talking to him. He seemed to be in worse conditions when I met him than in this video.

I followed both of their careers every Thursday night on TV on Boxing from the Olympic Auditorium in the 70's. They were my age and I identified with both of them. This clip is hard to watch.

I saw López at the Canelo vs Josesito Lopez fight. I heard him slur his speech as bad as bobby chacon. And he seemed to forget everything, short term memory, he was singing autographs and he was forgetting the names they told him just seconds ago. Sad story of both men

Damn, I'd heard about Chacon's condition, but WOW! Of course, I shouldn't be to surprised. This fight happened a week before I was BORN, and I was watching him fight on TV some 10 years later.

@johnachacon WOW...You have truly restored my (our) faith in humanity. Thank you for your quick response and mostly for being able to undersand where we were coming from. I'm sorry I got a little heated and harsh words were sent. I do tend to be rather overprotective, {kinda like a Momma bear} when it comes to my family but your understanding and compassion will also be a lesson for me...So thanks again Reneets

@boxingfan805 Boxing fan first it was my cousin who posted that under my account, I see you posted positive comments, thank you very much!! It was someone who had tried to put him down that she was responding to. As his daughter I have had to sit back and watch many people tell stories about my dad, I will not argue with anyone, my heart and mind are firm in knowing who my dad is and I will always defend his honor but in an honorable way not hashing it out on a website.Sorry again

Bobby chacon was a real good fighter.i was ten years old when I seen him fight at the Olympic auditorium. it was the mid seventies and he fought Reuben olivares.unfortunatly he lost nevertheless he put up a good fight.that is what motivated me to become a fighter.i never had the opportunity to meet him .i remember watching him fight bazooka limon, boza edwards, ray mancini,Arturo frias,Alexis arguello and many more.the guy had heart and talent.he lived life the way he wanted.i don't care about his personal life it is none of my business. I made a lot of similar mistakes that he did .al I care about are the great memory that he left me from the ring.my father and I had some good times when we would go and see him fight at the Olympic auditorium and the forum.i still remember how the people would yell his name and root for him.he would get sockd up then come back and kick the other guys butt good.in them days fighters like him fought the best in the division.not like today for instance like canelo who fights Chavez jr cotto ,angullo ,Khan and then fights ggg like a puss.no huevos like bobby chacon.everybody thought lil red Lopez was going to beat bobby and he almost did.lil red was tough to.in boxing it is unpredictable one punch can change the outcome.i hope that he did catch up to his late wife valory.and to his son who was killd.what a tough sport we chose.but when you grow up in the barrio and become a famous fighter and make money you feel like you are on top of the world.may God rest his soul.im sure he went out punching.

@boxingfan805 Bobby Chacon was not only a Prize fighter, he is a father, a son a brother and most of all a hero, my real life hero, my dad. Biologically. And I'm sorry that you only witnessed him in a bad time of his life. In reality he has a great big heart and is a strong loving and giving person. For you to judge him when you don't even know him... I really feel sorry that you do not know him as I and so many others really do.

@johnachacon Who judged him. I called the quick moment I saw and met him. I don't know where he stand now or ever. I didn't post this about Bobby for my health. I posted this so people that never knew real boxing can see what it was when it was. I congradulate you for having a great father. But that doesn't excuse your confusion for what you thought I was posting this for. He was one of my favorites.

@JONNYB21CA Really? And Ray's wife is at no fault for that if that's true? And Ray would get back with a woman after something like that? Who is the sick one if all that is true? Ray or Bobby? AT least Bobby has an excuse for being off!
