I think it is absolutely awesome to listen to this type of music. My mom was from that era. She was still a teenager. But I am sure she listened to music like this.😊🇿🇦❤
I'm 80 and still listen to these doo wop and songs of the 60s on RU-vid for at least 2 hours a day even though I have about 500 CD,s a couple hundred LPs, some cassettes, and even a few 8 tracks.
I'm 71years old & I will never give up my "Oldies " "Doo Wops" I listen to them everyday & my son also loves them. Today's Music is just plain old garbage
@@izzymos6318people before him were also listening to similar music lol, the music scene really started to change mainly in the late 50s cos of rock music and stuff
@@izzymos6318 He speaks the truth, music today is garbage. It's all autotune and computer generated. Everyone sounds like a robot and it's so forgettable. At least this music stands the test of time unlike what is called music today.
This was when guys still dressed sharp and combed their hair. Nowdays they come out in blue jeans, t-shirts and 4 days growth of a scruffy beard. Give me the 50,s and 60,s any day. What a difference !!!!
Bobby Darin was a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor in film and television. He passed away on December 20, 1973 at the tender age of 37 due to complications from heart surgery. May he Rest In Peace with many other artists who passed away too early in their lives.
yes he did, Logan, but while you may not be a singer, you in your field are just as impossible to replace. Thanks for getting us through the dense financial fog.
my dream lover my wife of 51 and half years been gone two years now I miss her so much we loved the oldies we grew up then that was a part of or young lives. miss our dates in my 57 Pontiac and drive inn movies and rock music on car radio and drag racing but never with her in car never won some lost some lol I miss you donna my love you were my first and only true love you were my dream lover we will be together again some sweet day baby.
very sorry for your loss but you are so lucky to have had so many years with the love of your life. i feel like I will never have that kind of love in this world we currently live in. best regards to you, sir
I feel your pain my friend! My dear wife passed away a year and a half ago, the pain is so great. You and I live in a different world now we get it, the world doesn't, yes there will be a day when we will be together again, until that day we have to survive through memories. GD bless our wives s o u l s!
lol! That might be because no "recently-made music" IS good! Not sure how that hurts anyone's "butt", but the old music is 100% better than anything out there today.
Singers in those days just got up there and sang. How I miss those days. Artists I was lucky enough to see live included the Righteous Brothers, Roger Miller, Dinah Washington and Roy Orbison -- all magnificent! So sorry I never got to see Bobby Darin. He was my idol. RIP
Meet Bobby Darin on Feb 14 1966. At Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. My heart doctor Dr Kroop.always had a big party for all his patients who had open heart surgery. I was one of the lucky ones to have made it.
The two girls in the audience who got shown on camera would be in their 70s now if they are still with us. Entire lives lived since that night when they were filmed.

Bobby was an absolute master of his craft. Owned the stage. Had real swagger (twitch of shoulder this way, that way). Nifty footwork. Tease of a smile. And then, well, that voice.
This was my oldest brother's favorite song when he left for Army basic training in 1962. Everytime it played on the radio, tears came to my Mama's eyes.
Did your brother survive his time in the service? Not being nosy, just hoping he made it back to your mama. It's 2023 and my son is in the Air Force. Can't imagine saying goodbye to him without the communication methods we have today. I pray he lived a long, happy life.
When I was a little girl visiting my parents country:Guyana. This was played at every wedding and on saturday nights.Brings back lovely childhood memories
My mother loved Bobby Darin. I didnt appreciate him as a kid and teenager in the 60’s but I am drawn to him now, his music, his charisma, and his tragic story of a life cut short at 37. How cool it is to watch these videos and see the reactions to this amazing talent.
Me, too! I wasn't yet a teenager in 1959 but I can still vividly recall hearing these songs on the radio. I'd be walking home from grade school and teenagers would be blasting these songs from their car and transistor radios. What a time it was!
Ricky, Bobby had a very similar upbringing to Ted Bundy's, yet he made better choices. No one is perfect. He was very ill for all of his life but he did not sit on his laurels or seek revenge. He was married for six years and had several heart surgeries, eventually dying at only 37, yet donating his body to UCLA Medical Center for research. If that sounds like an asshole, then I'm twice as much.
+Ricky obviously you didn't notice all those songs on the curtain because call of those songs were all his. Also if anyone is an asshole I'm positive it is you 100% - oh and I looked him up and he has 24 songs and 16 of them were hits, there were probably more songs of his but so far only found 24. So you saying he only has 2 songs just shows you know nothing and just like being an asshole
I just turned 73 last month and have been a first hand witness to all of Bobby Darin's success. What a great artist with mega talent. He was on record labels,on TV programs and in movies. He could sing, act ,dance or do stand up routine.Everything he did turned to gold.He knew that he had a bad heart and would not live to an old age and so lived every moment to the fullest. He left us way too young. He was a first class gentleman along the whole road.Youngsters today could surely take some life lessons from the great Bobby Darin.
@@kellydave1088 Hello Kelly- Dave !..I am a disabled VNam Era Vet..Combat Corpsman and Surgical Op. Rm. Tech and my disabilities are now catching up to me but am hanging in there..I was a big pharma rep [UpJohn ] sales training at distribution center , west coast...Hollywood when Bobby darin died and it was announced on the radio. My district manager at the time was really grieved, having followed Bobbies career from the beginning. We knew he was a special talent and we miss him to this day.. God Bless Dana
So I am divorced 6 years now. Dead end job. Still paying her for 4 more years. Income based support. More I make the more I pay. But I still listen to this song almost nightly. Someday I will meet someone who doesn’t care about money, but me. And maybe just maybe, I will even be cool enough to assuage from a missed handshake into one of the coolest shuffle/sways ever.
A greater recovery on camera was never ever done!!!! Don't worry bro she's out there. Ya just had to realize what was sour before ya got to the sweet .chin up mate.👍
I watched a short bio about him. I'm surprised at the number of hits he actually wrote. He didn't just sing songs other people wrote like some singers do. He's very talented!
This music from back then is my only tie back to my mother, father, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandmother and other loved ones who are no longer here in the flesh. I miss you so much. Thank you for this old music I used to hear as a child !
yes, we agree in america, but our culture is rule by our masters and we seems to have no control of morality... we are your allies in the war against evil we are americans and we are good an the future victims of persecution same are you
Don't blame me! Blame Donald Trump. Just because other people in America have depreciated with values and character as the years went by doesn't mean *we* have! *I care.* September 18, 2020, 12:37am
@@adampkalb Why blame Trump? If we are comparing 'values and character' to the 60s, Trump was only in office since 2017 until now. And putting the date and time you wrote this like it's some big JFK speech is really pretentious in my opinion.
What a talented musician. I am 15 years old, and all my friends think that I am weird for listening to the late, great Bobby Darin, but I dont care, because I absolutely cannot stand the bullshit music that people listen to today. Back in the 50s, they had real talent. No bullshit "doof doof" in the background, no swearing or trying to be cool, and no lyrics that degrade women. I think that was truly the golden age of music.
Dude exactly I am also 15 now and everyone thinks i am weird for listening to him as well. This is truly better then rap. Him Sinatra, Dean Martin all just great people!
@@comeacross9 Arrogance from people who have no reason to be so I cannot bear..arrogance from people who are exceptional i can forgive. Winston Churchill comes to mind.
I agree Sam Cooke was one of the best singers. I’m 74 and I remember his songs and it seems that it brings back memories from long ago. I grow up with some of the best music, what a wonderful time to be alive .
I was only 16 when I first heard this song; ran out that very same day to the record-store to buy it! Bobby Darin was one of the very best, still listen to the wonderful music he gave us!
Merci pour cet excellent partage en live mais en play-back J'ai découvert il y a peu Bobby Darin mais j'aime beaucoup Cette chanson est magnifique A écouter en boucle Très agréable RIP Bobby Darin
That was beautiful, Born in '60, and I still get chills, this was great, he kept the beat with simple things like foot steps, hand and arm gestures. WOW !
I heard this song listening to Art Bell on late night radio. I instantly fell in love with it. I’m from the’60s but never really listened to this magical music until Art. May you both rest in eternal peace and God bless you both and thank you for posting this beautiful song 🙏👏🏻
There are singers who overcome the fact of being a very good singer and become an Idol, that was the Great and Magical Bobby Darin, we will always miss Him and Sandra Dee
Sandra Dee his wife was a dream Love that came true for Bobby. Makes me wonder if he sang this before he met her. This is my favorite of the songs he sang. He nailed it better than anyone could. ❤
This would have been when my Mom was a teenager, but I've always loved this era of music, especially Bobby Darin. My Mom passed away a year ago, and listening to this always makes me think of her.
The 50s and 60s songs talked about love and respect, but then again every generation had its thing. Todays music I don't they've even figured out what their music is trying to say. I loved our music. It was easy to sing along with in the car, at home, wherever. Out parents, didn't like our music either. They listened to their music and we listened to ours, which to me was the best, but I liked Frank Sinatra, Perry Como etc. and a lot of their songs.
This song 🎶 bring back old memories, still listening in 2023 He have a soulful voice! This is my favorite song 🎶 so tell me are you a fan of Bobby Darin…?
I was twelve years old when I first heard this record. All the good looking dolly birds in this video are grannys now, but, they have names like Jackie, Angie, Molly and Debbie. People of this era, the birth of ROCK AND ROLL, will never grow old. Rock on!
Now singers do so many things with their arms and legs in their video clips which actually make you feel tired but he does a few things with his hands and fingers only but it looks so proper that you relax😌😌😌
This is such a wonderful song. Every part of it from the story, the singer, the background, the music couldn't be better. I'm thankful to be able to listen to it.
