Here's a longish (~20 minutes) edit from the Kentucky Educational Television (KET) "Jubilee" program that was recorded at the Osborne Brothers Hyden, Kentucky "Homecoming" festival in August, 2000. Except for the full closing song "Ruby" (with KET's production credits and Sonny's humorous comments at the very end), this video skips the music itself in order to highlight Bobby Osborne's off-stage spoken account of his own musical beginnings and odyssey.
The program was recorded by KET's great crew, headed by producer/director H. Russell Farmer. In the band at that time, in addition to Bobby Osborne (mandolin) and Sonny Osborne (banjo), were Shad Cobb (fiddle), Gene Wooten (dobro), Terry Smith (bass), and Dana Cupp (guitar).
Working with assistant producer Cindy Asher, I was the "interviewer" who asked questions, though my questions themselves were all edited out, as I knew and expected. I had done similar "cutaway" interviews several times before for Osborne Brothers "Jubilee" appearances, but had always done them with Sonny. This time, Russ Farmer said "why not see if Bobby will talk on-camera?" and he really did. Some (but not all) of his lengthy responses were integrated into the finished program, taking up about 15 minutes of the final ~52-minute program.
