I believe you are RIGHT, so I've changed the description for this clip to correct the location and date to Hyden, KY, 1998. Sorry, mea culpa... And thank you for noticing and correcting me!!!
@@user-su2oi5pb7b You may already know about the Osborne Brothers playlist on my RU-vid channel, but if NOT: check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FHMWmWS8f5U.html
That was the sound that I came to in '74/75. Used to hear Newgrass in the early '70s at the Storefront Congregation in Louisville. JD Crowe and the New South were the stuff, then Boone Creek. Wore this album out, for sure. RIP Terry Baucom.
What type of mandolin was Sam playing at this time? Don't think I ever saw him with anything in his hands other than his block inlay F5. Maybe a Randy Wood A model? He was still in Nashville at this time.
I don't know for SURE, but it was a long-neck A model, which MAY have been built by Courtney Johnson's wife, Hazel Dalgleish Johnson, who is on Facebook. You could ask her, or Sam, for details...
