Jack in Black I wish the Cowboys would have held onto him after Parcells left and made him the HC in 2007 instead of Wade Phillips (great human being, amazing coordinator but average HC). There something to say about Zimmer where he was the only coordinator from the Jimmy Johnson era retained by Bill Parcells. Zimmer also had a nice run with the Bengals and is doing his thing with Minny!!!

SB Nation that’s cool, I love your videos and I’m a Cowboys fan regardless of 3 SBs in 4 yrs in the mid 90s or 2 playoff wins in the last quarter century, I’m going to represent for life!!! I have always wondered if we fired Garrett and kept Maranelli & Richard but added the coaches we had in the Parcells days like Sean Payton, Zimmer, Todd Bowles, Anthony Lynn and Todd Haley with the talent we have with now with our offensive line & Zeke how good we really can be!!!

Combine that with the cheapskate owner and his fleecing of county tax dollars for the stadium deal. Yea screw Mike Brown, Marvin Lewis, and the entire Bengals organization.

Kyle R - I think a lot of it has to do with a lot of the guys on that team looking up to him. Some of them have credited him for keeping them on the right path. There are quite a few guys on the team with conduct issues and Marvin Lewis is a motivator type of coach. I imagine Pacman Jones for example would have gotten in more off the field trouble had he not met him. But I'm not a Bengals fan so I'm on the outside looking in and could be way off

Lefty stunk-up the field while in Atlanta. Though in fairness he was a last-minute hire that didn't have much time to settle in with the team before getting injured. Happy to hear Leftwich has found success on the NFL sidelines since retiring as a player.

Rudie Obias as a fan of a division rival, hue Jackson is a good coach, and he's a guy you can respect. It's a bit of a jump from QB coach to offensive coordinator and then to head coach but I have faith he'll turn it around

I remember when Petrino was hired by Arkansas because I was living about 20 miles west of the OK-AR state line at the time. Most Arkansas fans didn't like him off the bat because of what he did to the Falcons and most of the ones I knew legitimately hated him after they did a little homework on him and found out that he did the same thing to Louisville.

I'm sure the Falcons fan didn't mind since we can thank Petrino for the success the Falcons have now. The ordeal was a wake-up call for Arthur Blank and the rest of the upper management. The terrible season meant having the opportunity to draft Matt Ryan. The change of focus led to the aggressive trade for Julio Jones. 2008-2017 was the best decade in franchise history by far. If Petrino isn't such a screw up and a coward, I'm not sure the Falcons are as strong of a franchise as they are today. So thanks Petrino.

I don't blame Arthur Blank for hiring Petrino at all. Petrino had a reputation for being a QB whisperer, and Blank saw him specifically as the best chance to get Michael Vick's career back on track. Of course, no one at the time could've foreseen what we now know Vick was doing then.

I feel sorry for the assistant coaches and their families, especially those who had to move after the season. In the long run it was best that he left. If someone really does not want to be there and is not upfront about it, they need be gone, GOOD BYE, ADIOS and AU REVOIR. I say these as a Falcon fan.

I've been a Falcons fan since 1997, and aside from the 28-3 collapse against the Patriots, 2007 was the worst. And Mike Zimmer nailed it with his quote. Thankfully, Matt Ryan and Mike Smith came along in 2008 and the Falcons bounced back that season. Now, if Ryan and ATL can just win a damn ring before i depart this life....

ATL has had a rough time with coaching. John Mora Jr was atrocious. He just said Vick do you. It’s a shame because if a coach like Andy Reid for example, would’ve gotten to Vick early in his career the guy would be a HOFamer. Everybody is acting like Lamar Jackson is the next Vick or better some say and that’s just stupid. Lamar will never EVER get to Vick’s level.

At this time this was true. But as of 2021 there is no person coach or gm that destroyed a franchise as bad as Bill O'Brien did the Texans. He set us back literally 5 years minimum. And that's just to be competitive.
