I live in Dayton Ohio. Jimmy George, owned Ohio surf & skates, that for a short time became Bill Danforth skateboard shop. Jimmy put on the Ohio skate out. Bill Danforth was like a god to us. I saved a cigarette butt of his for like 25 years. I love Ron Allen..

Its funny how Im 32 but I grew up skating when you really did connect with somebody random because you noticed you both skated and kicked it off. Nowadays it seems like when I approach a skateboarder they act like Im a kook.

The vibe out there is a little weird. I agree. Most of the time, when people show up at one spot I go to pretty frequently, or a nearby park, I usually bounce. For me, skating is about my alone time(And oddly, I like to think of skating like a marital art, which is how Puleo described it in his Nine Club). The connection with a lot of skaters is kind of missing. Oddly, last time I felt it was around some people with cruiser boards around a downtown area. They weren't trying anything; they were just stoked on the simple act of skating, which was cool. I really don't relate to the scene too much anymore either (recently, I got vibed out of a local skate shop). It feels, though, like it's come full circle because, growing up, I skated by myself a lot. And that's pretty much what I do now. It doesn't bum me out or anything; I mean, I still really enjoy it.

@@tomlotti240 we probably identify more with the "posers" who just ride a skateboard for the pure enjoyment of it than with the scene. Thats what its about anyways. Enjoying skating and tripping out on it. My friend at work started skating in his 20's and just really loves to skate. In the past I would have had a problem because I had to fight people when skating wasnt cool and "earned my stripes" so to speak but now that I'm older I think its rad that its widely accepted and people of all ages start to skate.

13 years old in 1986. First real board was a black and red Gator. Just another old body with a young attitude at this point. Should probably decide what I want to be when I grow up so I can retire proper. It's a shame that the posers are laughing last while cashing in. 2200.00 for a McGill is ridiculous, but then again I wouldn't have ridden it either back in the day.
