This popped up and it took about three seconds for the tears to start. What a wonderfully talented man with the kindest heart. I will always cherish the times I got to meet with him and his family and hear them sing and play. Wishing Karen and Bobby eternal peace and love without limits in the hereafter. Thank you to the kids for sharing him with us. ❤

Wow! Came upon this tonight by accident. Was listening to a duo singing this song and then I was noticing many others who have covered this song. Can't believe this is Bobby Vee --but he sounds so good singing it! I was a Bobby Vee fan (probably my first crush on a singer) when I was a little girl of about 6 or 7 years old and heard, "Rubber Ball" . I remember seeing Bobby on some TV program that my parent's were watching and I thought he was a cute boy. Then when I was a little older I bought my first LP in my life (well maybe I had my parent's buy it for me) so I could listen to "Rubber Ball" over and over and over again! I didn't have a little girl crush on Elvis - it was for BOBBY VEE! 6 or 7 YEARS OLD!

This is absolutely gorgeous - and one of my favorite songs. Bobby, I'm sorry to hear of your illness, and I wish you only the best. I interviewed you by phone on WHCN in Hartford when "Nothing Like A Sunny Day" came out; it was a great hour, and thank you again 40 years later. I only wish it could have been in person. I've been a fan from your early rockabilly days, and this new track reinforces my appreciation of your great talent. Thank you for your music and your spirit!

I was fortunate enough to interview Bobby Vee a number of years ago. He was, I remember, a really nice, genuine, down-to-earth type of guy who just loved talking about all of his friends in the music business. His wonderful voice will be missed, too...

So sad to hear the news of Bobby Vee's passing... by all accounts he was a wonderful person in every way. Touching to hear Bob Dylan pay tribute a couple of years ago - search the video of Bob Dylan singing Suzie Baby where he calls Bobby the "most beautiful person" he'd ever shared the stage with. RIP gentle soul...

Your 100% right ! Ive got to work with Bobby on quite a few shows , and he is one of the kindest and great guys in our business . I remember working a show with him and he mentioned he had alzheimers disease when we were out to lunch prior to the show . He drove his van in from MN out to Peoria Illinois . I wanted to fly him out of Mn but he said no , ill just drive my van in . See im a promoter of oldies rock and roll shows and did a show that night with Bobby , Freddy Cannon , lou Christie , and Johnny Tillotson .We all had a great time at our after show party , and could I tell you some great stories just about the fun we all had that night, before , and after the show , till the early morning hours till we all parted We will all miss him , he is a pioneer that kept the music alive for alot of people , along with his gracious personality made everyone comfortable in his presence RIP Ken "The Legends Of Rock And Roll Concerts"

Always been one of my favorite vocalist. I used to spend my profits from my paper route in the 60's to stop by the cafe and play The Night Has A Thousand Eyes and Run To Him on the juke box as well as Charms! Thanks for the music, it inspired me to be a musician which I have been all my life and still am at age 63 with my band Union Made II. Check us out her on youtube.

I am just a fan here, but the song you are looking for is Up North December. It is on iTunes on Bobby's wonderful album called The Ultimate Christmas, and it is worth getting the whole album. A music video for another song from the album, Small Town America, is on RU-vid, and the intro is Up North December. Beautiful music!

Great to see Bobby re-recording a b-side track he wrote & recorded back in 1975. I don't suppose you have the 1975 version with it's A-Side "It's Good To Be Here", to post on you tube do you please. I have never heard that version & it was never released here in the U.K.

Bobby does a great job here, but Townes Van Zandt wrote If I Needed You. The earlier version of If I Needed You has not been posted so far. Bobby did write It's Good To Be Here, and that was just uploaded recently here on RU-vid.

He was great talent and human being He was a good Family Guy Bereaved it or not our lives were very similar type he was famous and I was not When I was in my teens my family and friends always said I look like him My wife Susan luved him when he came out with the song Susie baby. When me and my wife met in a skating rink in 1964 The first thing she said to me is you look like Bobby See It was luv at first sight We were together for 49yrs until her passing in 2013 Like Bobby I had a great girl I guess in a way I have to thank him I wish I could have met him in this life we were alot of like RIP Bobby with Karen

Sounds a little like the voice of guitar great Leo Kottke -- but, there's no mistaking it's Bobby Vee at his best. When I heard "I Wish You Were Mine Again," years ago I knew with a modernized vocal you'd continue to prove you're a top tier artist. Dylan took chances - ignored his detractors. Your Robert Velline lp was excellent & the 60's hits are classics. Your future should be Americana-Roots & you deserve that recognition. Stay well Mr Velline...I know your situation -- try to have faith.

I forgot to mention this in my last post but I have listened to what seems like different versions of "Suzie Baby." Some arrangements are different in that they are more orchestrated or start out with more orchestration (the ones on RU-vid.) But there is the other version that is not orchestrated at all - which I prefer. Was wondering about the differences and what album is Suzie Baby on WITHOUT the heavier orchestration? Were there two versions or more of that song released?

Correct Lynne Sullivan, THE IDOL (1962?) was a Desilu production/investigative documentary about the strange phenomenon of Teen Idols, and Bobby was the primary example. The orchestrated version of Suzie Baby came from that soundtrack (where presumably they didnt have the budget to license any of the original recordings, so they recorded new ones. But you're right the original SUZIE BABY from his first 1959 recording session in Minneapolis is far superior IMHO- There's a great Bob Dylan cover of it on RU-vid as well) . But the documentary followed him through a recording session in LA, and talked to him and his family in Fargo, North Dakota. It even showed a very young Carole King toiling away in her Brill Building cubicle writing BVee songs with her then husband Gerry Goffin. There's a scene of Bobby taking acting lessons from a pre-STAR TREK Leonard Nimoy and a very funny (not intentionally) interview with a Fargo newspaper man complaining about how American culture is going in the toilet due to songs like BVee's STAYIN IN - "I punched my buddy in the nose after lunch, now Im in trouble, cuz the dean saw the punch." Glorifying violent hooliganism apparently
