I had listened to Bobby Vinton in the 70's..and am only now returning to his music. He is a great performer,, family man and of course is loved by the Polish people and all people who love great music. The joy he brought to millions can not be exaggerated. Na zdrowie! I Niech zyje. Sto lat!
Interesting that he acknowledged "Roses Are Red" is "corny". I don't necessarily think it's "corny" but as a kid I did think his songs were a little "square". I didn't dislike him or his songs. I think I saw them as "girl songs" or "mushy". Now I appreciate their simplicity and melodies more. Come to think of it I do think I bought one of his Epic singles, "Blue Velvet". As far as the male heart-throb crooners of that era I was more into Dion ("The Wanderer" and "Runaround Sue" kinda kicked butt ). I don't think all current pop music is trash but they do lose me when they keep putting out tracks with no compelling melody and no hooks. Image alone is not enough for me.
