primitivepathways.com This dramatic series of photos shows a bobcat attack and kill a small mule deer. The photos were taken in October, 2016 by my brother's trail camera.
Truly it is sad when dumb humans who love bambi chase away preditors trying to hunt and eat and balance the food chain. We have done enough harm to natire, this is just stupid. Do not fear though, the scavangers will consume the deer and nothing truly goes to waste in nature.
what is unfortunate is that that bobcat worked hard for that meal and was chased off. who knows how long it will take for it to find another opportunity to eat. probably had kittens depending on that meal too. unfortunate indeed
From the video, "...but unfortunately, he was too late to save the deer." So I say, "Save the deer?" And you're talking to me about syntax? Bwahahaahahaaaa.....ok, whatever there, snowflake.
Please stop fluffing your own ego, snowflake. You didn't understand my point, are making a point of your own that was not mine, and are now trying to argue about it. Take care.
Why would he try to save the deer? Do you how much effort that poor Bobcat had to put into a successful hunt? Any good hunter should have recognized and respected it.
Good to see that others know what they are talking about! I'm Thankful for People Like You, that understand, and have Respect for Nature, and "Other Hunters!!!" Good on ya Sarah!
Kiss my ass you Wimps! It’s Nature ,A bobcat Has to eat just like you and I do! I am a hunter, and I’ve perfected my skill with high-powered rifles, and I can make kill shots at 600 yards. With my 300 magnum. Right through the heart,So the animal doesn’t suffer. It’s dead before it here’s the report of my rifle at that range.I was only stating my respect for the bobcat, because he is a Hunter too...
Mike Mcdonnell a murderer? Okay you snowflake don’t start crying holy f*ck grow some balls you pussy.. it’s called SURVIVAL! meanwhile you probably eat your steak from the supermarket and haven’t ever killed your food
right, Deer literally exist to be eaten. No senses, no defenses, no offenses, just a crazy reproductive rate and tons of easy to acquire meat. Thank you god for providing such an easy and bountiful supply of protein
@@majormindflayer7614 I mean you're half right but they do have defenses. Good nose, good hearing and they're obviously faster which is why predators have to sneak up on them but they are bountiful for sure. So much that they're a cars worst enemy lol.
I don't disagree... but I have to say, Bambi was a movie, not a TV show. I do not know these "reruns" off which you speak. Also, it was a heck of a book.
why disturb the bobcat? yall probably hunted it and killed it later on. there are tens of millions of deer, not so many bobcats. let them do their thing.
This is why I hate sheltered babies.Growing up in the backwoods by the Rockies this is normal. It's nature. If delicate pansies like this guy & his brother can't handle it - coming across as delicate & effeminate as preteen girls - then they should stay out of nature & live in a city. They're a pest. Not nature.
A predator that doesn't bother people and rarely bothers livestock takes one young wild deer and that's unfortunate? This is why we have such a messed up predator/prey balance in most of North America.
Jason Patterson you're right! People need to leave predators alone. How is it unfortunate that a bobcat killed a deer when the deer population is too high anyway? The more deer in a given area the more car accidents, injuries and deaths you're gonna have due to the deer. My cousin works for an auto insurance company and says deer cause thousands of accidents every year in the United States alone. That's not counting other parts of the world with high deer populations due to lack of natural predators.
Actually, mule deer populations out west are in decline and have been for a number of years. Biologists have been concerned about that but aren't sure of the reason...but most likely it's probably too many people. So you're point about there being too many deer is incorrect. Secondly, would you say the same thing about me if I shot a deer and posted a video about it?
You're assuming he doesn't eat the deer he harvests. And what do you think will happen to the bobcats and other predators when their prey goes "extinct"??
@@manhdo5841 lol, always the rhino's, you liberal shills always lump legitimate hunters in with poachers, please do some research and educate yourself. Your assumption that people shoot deer for sport and not food is wrong, we put a lot of time and energy into ensuring a clean ethical kill and I'm yet to meet anyone who kills merely for sport (and if I did they'd be sorry).
Jake Landshark Its because of their size . That's why people are surprised that they occasionally take a deer. But this is very rare. Most of their diet is rabbit , squirrel and other rodents.
OF course! I saw one the other day in a minivan at the Arby's drive through ordering a bunch of roast beef sandwiches for its kittens that were in the back seat....and they were all in the approved child seats so that was a smart, and legal bobcat mom!
Why worry about "saving" the deer? This is the way that nature works. A faster or more alert deer would have remained in the gene pool. Bobcats need to eat too. I'm impressed. I didn't think a Bobcat could take down a deer so easily but then I didn't think an Eagle could take down a deer either.
Why would an adult man act like it was so sad for the deer? The only sad thing is that the cat worked hard to be successful and was run off after killing it's prey. It's a pansy snowflake world these days.
Badass bobcat! I wouldn't have thought they went after deer, that was cool, hope your brother left the deer there so the cat could come back and eat some of its hard won dinner.
@Primitive Pathways I'm pretty sure that in one of your earlier comments you wrote that the scavengers ate the carcass, so the bobcat did not get it. Which one was it?
Unfortunately he was too late to save the Deer? Its sad he interrupted the Bobcats Dinner. Its best to allow Nature to take its course. I hope he left the Deer carcass for the Bobcat to enjoy after he left? I mean, the Deer was dead and the Bobcat Did harvest it as that is what they do brother. Enjoyed the Video by the way. Thank you very much for posting it.
This guy makes this sound like a tragedy. This is fucking nature. I’m glad that bobcats are capable of controlling the deer population because coyotes don’t do shit around where I live because we don’t get much snow anymore. I don’t see why people can’t just let nature do it’s thing, it’s not like bobcats are endangering the entire population.
@@zack_demonic doesn’t make any difference anyway, they’re still one of the most numerous mammalian predators in The Americas, I don’t like them either but if they didn’t have those debuffs they’d be out of control lol
Good video Billy, there's nothing unfortunate about not being able to save the deer though. That's a valuable, hard-earned meal for a bobcat. Some must die so that others may live. That's simply the way of life and it always has been.
There is no mercy in mother nature, eat or be eaten is the rule, compassion, remorse, sympathy, are attributes to humans, it is an unbelievable act of brutality what is shown here, but we are looking at it through OUR senses as a human. But our forefathers SOMEHOW gain the feeling and senses of community, compassion and remorse. They fought big beast and hunted others, fed themselves and share their kills with young and old, and those who could not provide for themselves, and become the top predator and got us to where we are Now. Was it an act of Divine, or Mother nature, or some other phenomenal to chose us, is for one to decide, the Fact remain the same, that if it wasn't for The hunting ability of our forefathers, these few lines would NOT be on you Computer screen. A top video, congrats to your brother who captured this educational sequences of photos , not 5 but 10 *s video, and with best regards, from New Zealand, Tony.
Why didn’t you just let the bobcat eat it’s dinner in peace? It takes a lot of his energy for him to kill that deer. If the bobcat died it’s your fault.
By chasing the bobcat off, you made it kill something else, or many other things to replace this meal. So, by intervening, you caused more harm. Way to go.
@Primitive Pathways I'm pretty sure that in one of your earlier comments you wrote that the scavengers ate the carcass, so the bobcat did not get it. Which one was it? If the cat did come back and ate it and you guys have the pictures, please make antoher video, I'm sure a lot of people would love to see it and that it'd have a lot of views.
This guy's got to be straight from the suburbs of some major metropolis, raised up on latte's and smart phones. Save the deer? Why on God's green earth would you do that? So the Bobcat and her kittens can starve to death? Deer are common and bountiful; Bobcat's are rare and fragile. Leave nature to her course.
nature also goes to the bigger scarier scavengers like bears or mountain lions (not actual scavengers i know) Wolf kills a deer and a bear smells it a bear would scare off the wolf and eat what it wants and leave the rest for the bugs
Why would he interfere with nature? That was not very bright of him! I can understand if someone was poking an animal with a stick or tormenting an animal. But don't interrupt the natural order of what takes place in the wild....
What an awesome event to capture on a trail cam! Love it..amazing hunters these bobcats! I don't find this unfortunate at all..it's well earned and fortunate for the bobcat and hopefully his kittens too
No he left the deer. Within a day or two there was nothing but bones left. The scavengers picked the deer clean so quickly that it didn't even get to the point where it smelled rotten!
Primitive Pathways did you really mean to say "save the deer". If you didn't, please repost something for everyone to read what you meant. Do you even know how that sounds
Your interruption may have caused another death. Who knows what other animal the bobcat had to kill because of that. But to be honest, I may have react the same way. Strange, when watching the clip, I feel sorry for the deer and want it to escape and at the same time I'm all with the bobcat. Seems like two souls are within me - one is prey and one is predator.
That's true...I can feel for both animals. Being a hunter I understand where the bobcat is coming from. But I also feel for the deer. It's a weird tangle of emotions.
What is this nonsense about him saying it is unfortunate that the deer died? Dude, bobcat has gotta eat! For an ecosystem to function properly, there must be a sufficient number of predators to keep prey animal numbers within control. All a deer has to do to eat is lower its head and open its mouth. Bobcats have gotta work hard to survive. Don’t interfere with that.
Thanks Billy, I am impressed by the footage and the boldness of the bobcat, also I had always been told that they were so shy that they wouldn't leave the cover of brush but the footage says otherwise. Awesome Brother, keep up the videos!
No, the camera is set to take a 3-shot burst of photos when it detects movement, then it pauses for a few seconds before it takes another burst of photos.
Awesome attack and kill video. Proof positive that a 25 pound bobcat can take down a 50 pound fawn. Everything has to eat in nature so i don't blame the bobcat for the attack. A young deer also isn't always as alert and swift to dodge nor strong enough to break free so I don't blame the deer either. for its demise It's just how nature works. But it does point out the abject cruelty and lack of compassion any predatory killer has for its prey. As you noted, it takes minutes for a deer to bleed out and die due to punctures and bites to the neck. A deer needs to bleed out about 3 pints of blood in order to die. I say this simply to point out that a vital zone bullet from a hunter's gun kills far more humanely than predators in nature ever do. I'd be willing to bet a lot of those saying let the bobcat kill and eat the deer would be completely against a hunter killing the same deer. To the deer it doesn't matter all that much; it dies either way. What this video proves is that controlling the deer population via hunting isn't any more traumatic or unethical than simply allowing nature's predators to do the same job. Thanks for sharing a great video!
Mother Nature at her finest !! I’ve seen a coyote haul down a fawn & drag the dead fawn back to her baby yotes........Not fun to witness but that is the way Mother Nature works......
"Without sharp claws or teeth, there's not much the adult deer could do to help the fawn". Wrong. They could stomp on the cat w their hooves. The cat would flee.
" Unfortunately he was too late to save the deer. " Why would he want to do that ? It's nature and nature appears at times to be cruel. But the bobcat needs to eat and it eats herbivores like deer. That's the way it is. Would we feel sorry for the defenceless grass that the deer eats ?
I get a kick out of people who always talk about how a coyote will win in fight against a coyote. They have never actually witnessed a bobcat attack anything. Just a few years ago while hunting from my deer stand I watched a young female bobcat that was only 12 to 15 pounds absolutely destroy a large male coyote that was 45+ pounds. She came walking up the ridge with a rabbit she had caught and the large male coyote sneaked up behind her and tried to steal her catch. It didn't take but a few seconds for him to realize he just made the mistake of his life. She wrapped her legs around his neck and head, sunk her claws in and went to chewing with her teeth. He tried everything he could to shake her off but all he could do was roll with her and scream. After probably 15 to 20 seconds she finally let go and all you could see was him running away yelping with his head tore all to pieces. Never underestimate any kind of cat. They are Apex predators....
People get so hostile about wild wolves in Wisconsin. They say they are eating "all the deer" because they aren't acting like backyard pets anymore but are wary like they are supposed to be. Also we have a big epidemic of chronic wasting disease or CWD in deer which is like mad cow disease for deer and itsnpotentially contagious to humans who eat it is really seriously affecting the deer as well as people who depend on deer hunting to get through the winter. However the areas where there are healthy populations of wolves are the ONLY areas where CWD hasn't spread because they take down the weak and the sick. The DNR has been worse than useless and haven't even tried to contain the epidemic and now it has spread into Iowa. They are much more involved in trying to demonize the wolves and open up hunting season on them again. Former Gov. Walker put his flunkies in there and they dodnaway with most of the scientist positions so they wouldn't be contradicted with facts when they made their plans. They cater to the very worst elements in so called hunting. Wisconsin has a long history of partnership between hunters and environmentalists but its the most sadistic assholesmwhonrule the roost here. You wouldn't believe what they allow people to do to almost any injured small wild animal including feral cats with hounds and to hounds in the name of training and hunting. Then for every hound they get killed by putting them in harms way near a mapped wolf den with pups or sending them after a black bear to maul and get mauled they are reimbursed 2,000 dollars in taxpayer money per dead hound if killed by a bear or wolf. Funny how those numbers keep going up isn't it ???
