Another great video. I’ve been around these machines for a while and you’re the first person I look to on RU-vid when I’m not sure about something. Thanks
I work for Clark equipment in Australia, doing the hydraulic filter from the side access has always been an absolute nightmare to get out for me for whatever reason, I’ve tried every filter removal tool possible, you make it look so easy 😅
I enjoy your videos, this is the first time I've done the filter element change on this 740. Thank you so much for making the videos for some of us out here who just need a little help. LOL. Keep up the good work!
Great video thank you so much. as you showed in this video you only pumped out 3 or 4 gallons of fluid . I was wanting to change as much of the fluid i can hopefully the 9 gallons it requires. my machine has 3300 hrs and i don't know if they ever changes the fluids . i have changed all the fluids and filters except the hydraulic oil and filters. how do i do a complete oil change ? is there a drain plug ?
Ok, I had it brought to my attention if you use two hoses on the axillary ports both the in and out. Set an empty 5 gal, (out), and a full bucket of new hydraulic oil fluid (in), you can completely flush out the old fluid? Has any one done this? Will it overflow the reservoir? Sounds like a real trick if it works? When would you change out the filters? Before or after? Would like some input on this method? I just did the discharge part of this as you showed. Looks like I got somewhere around 2 1/2 -3 gal out from this out port (top one). I’m doing this on a T450 Bobcat. Believe the complete system is around 5 1/2 gals. So I still have quite a bit old fluid left in the machine? Also, another thought would be keep adding new fluid to the reservoir till clean fluid flows out this out axillary port?
Ok, I just did the latter, I added fluid to the reservoir as I expelled the fluid out the top port. It cleaned out all the milky brown stuff that just started the first time when it started to bubble out. I ran the rest of the 5 gal bucket of the new fluid into the reservoir. The fluid coming out was not perfectly clear, but looked pretty good.👍🏼 😊
Great video ! I purchased a 2016 T550 and have changed all the fluids and filters except the hydraulic fluid so now i know how to change the hydraulic system . On the antifreeze i have not changed that fluid how often do i need to do that the machine has 3300 hrs. I am wanting to change everything so i can start fresh and know where im at with the machine. Thanks for all the help !
Thanks for the video! Bringing a 1979 Bobcat 730 back from the dead with milky hydraulic oil. Just repacked both lift cylinders and was trying to figure out a way to flush it.
Great video - loved the amount of detail and explanation!! Since this is just pulling out 3-4 gallons, I'm guessing that equates to about 40-50% of the fluid in the system. Is that right?
Great video! Just made me a subscriber. I have a 2014 S550 and it has the little screen filter under the cab in the housing. Can you believe the local dealership tech told me not to change my hydraulic oil? Today the machine shut off because it said 'hydraulic oil extreme high temp' I think it has lost/decreased its viscosity. Changing it, the filters and cleaning the coolers. Has 2200 hours. Thanks for being thorough and easy to understand.
Honestly I don't think cavitation would be a problem because you're putting no high stress on the pump the pump is barely running idling awesome video I did subscribe about to do this to my t770 glad I found your channel
This is a gold mine video on what needs to take place in the right order. Thanks so much. A while back I started getting a M3507 Hydraulic Fan Open Circuit on my 2014 T650 M Series. It happened after I used a hose to clean out some pack rat mess under the cab when I had it tilted up, like some sort of connector got water in it or something. Any ideas on what to troubleshoot first?
I own a 863 bob cat I replace 1 hydraulic filter under the cab, now it won’t tilt or the arms move 😅do you know if I have to bleed air out for the hydraulic system to work again? Tia.
Thanks for charing jour video’s. I have my s300 for 14 years now and itwas always a mysterie for me to understand this technologie. It has 450hrs now. In the years i had to add regular hydrolic oil an i was always demanding where the oil was gone, there were no leaks! Is it possible the oil is leaking in the chain box? Thanks for clearing this out for me. Philippe
I was exposed to the concept of cavitation with my 7.3 Ford diesel and thought my leg was being pulled but it was explained to me that improper. Antifreeze allowed ait bubbles to form and the diesel caused a vibration that smashed the bubbles against the cylinder walls and unchecked, ruined the engine. I put in a long life antifreeze that is supposed to stop that. 200,000 miles later I,m still good. John
Great video, thank you for sharing, I have a question, how to change “oil level” glass on 2015 T630, just remove screws and coming out? I guess is great idea to do so when tank is empty
Very good video! Thanks excuse I want to change the in line hydraulic filters but I can't find them, do you know maybe where can they be located please? Thanks.
Just start the engine and run it thru all the controls several times, lift all the way up and down, tilt all the way up and down and drive it a little and it will bleed itself out. If the oil is foamy it will clear up after sitting a little while.
I'm curious on how draining and replacing only 3-4 gallons of the (in my case T590) 9.5 gallon capacity does any good? How can one drain the entire system? Would you continually feed fluid into the reservoir while pumping out the aux hydraulic until you have pushed through 9.5 or so gallons?
I have a 763. Bobcat is out of Hydraulic fluid online. (List at $62/2.5 gal)Nearest dealer 2.5hr drive is $82/2.5gal jug. Service manual says I can also use 10w-30 or 10w-40 motor oil. What is your thoughts on that?
20 years ago motor oil was acceptable but changes in oil additives and detergents over the years have changed. It's better to stick with a hydraulic oil AW46. You should be able to buy it at Napa or any auto parts store.
So why does bobcat say it takes 10 gallons to change it? This is the way I do it as well and only get about 4 gallons out. Is the oil in chain case different?
Just Finished servicing the hydrostatic oil and filters on my 2018 T770. After running it about 5 minutes today, the machine shut itself down with error code D7528: “Right swash plate out of position”. Double checked all filters and oil levels. No metal or glitter in the old or new oil, but the new oil is the blue stuff and the old stuff that came out was a different color and smell. I’m a bit freaked out. Any idea what’s going on here?
I noticed you used filter pliers on one filter and a metal strap wrench on the another. I have a pair of the same pliers you used. I found they work much better than the strap or any other type of filter wrench. They work so good I don't even use any of the other types I have anymore. Pliers have worked in every situation and on every type of spin-on filter I've come across. When the filter is too tight the strap wrenches just slid around the filter. Pliers grip every time. Is there a reason you used the strap wrench on the last filter instead of the pliers? Hoping to learn something here. Thanks.
Great question, I also like the pliers but there is not enough room for pliers to remove the fan filter, due to limited space the band filter works better in that situation.
I've done my 500 hr service on my 2018 T770. That was fun and interesting. But this machine had some iffy emissions components, so they sent out a Tech to change them out. We got to talking, and he said this machine doesn't like to give up all its hydraulic fluid when pumping. Would your hose technique on the Aux hydraulic line work on this machine too? If so, I'd love to pass this on tho my Techs up here in Idaho. Thanks!!!
Yes that would work on the T770, you get about 20% more oil than pumping the tank but like I said in the video, not everyone agrees with this method because they think the pump will cavitate. I may know the Idaho guys, we just purchased most of the dealers up there, they are now part of our dealer network.
@@tetradgroup Cavitate, shmavitate. Even if it does, its not like you're running that pump all day long, like that. Just long enough to change out the old fluid. I would be very surprised if cavitating a pump for such a short period of time would kill a pump, I would bet the pump was suspect in the first place. Thanks!!! Stay safe, and keep the vids rolling!!!
Bobcat dealer is 100mi from me and kinda spendy. I am curious as far as quality or fitment there are good substitutes like NAPA, CAT, or others that can be ordered for hydraulic, fuel, or oil. I have a 863c if it matters. I don't mind spending extra on good fluids and filters because I feel I am saving money in the long run, but I don't like eating dealer mark-up if I don't have to.
I like all your videos, I need you at my place for a good day maybe day and a half lol. Quick question, do you have to evacuate the hyd system to replace the main filter in the back?? Probably should every time, but is it necessary?
I bought a T590 used and don't know when the hydrostatic fluid was changed so I am going to change it. You mentioned bleeding the air after the fluid change. Is there anything you have to do to bleed it or does it bleed the air on it's own when you run the hydraulics?
@HowIDidIt I have a 763 and was wondering if the change is the same process? There is a hyd. oil filter on the back above the motor but is there a 'top' filter as well. And then when filling does the oil just go into the overflow reservoir by the dip stick or is there a second tank that should also be filled. Sorry for the questions but i inherited this machine and there was no manual. Used your video to reseal the leaky spools - thanks!
@@zepper25 the only filter is above the engine in the back. There are 2 case drain filters under the cab. The hydraulic oil fill hole is on the outside right side behind the seat. There is a hydraulic dipstick next to the oil fill as well
@@SteveDoesEverything Great, thank you for that. That saves me from tearing off the upper cover on the back to check and see. I'll have to take a look at those filters under the cab. Sounds like they're inline filters?
My manual says to change filters at an hourly mark OR every year. Well i went to bobcat and got all my filters for a t590 and E50 R2 and it was $940. Is it necessary to change hydraulic filters every year if you don't meet your hourly limit? My machines are personal machines. My E50 is a 2020 and it only has 180 hours on it.
I have the cartridge style filter at the fan. Can’t get the cover off of the filter to save my life. Starting to crush and twist so I stopped. Tried every kind of lube and heat (to some extent). Any thoughts on how to get that cover off? Thanks
Your videos are awesome but i do have a question im workin on 2015 t770 did 1000 h service and the machine is throwing a hydraulic temp to high and filter plugged codes right at start up everything cold changed hydraulic temp sensor didnt fix problem do you have any ideas im starting to pull my hair out and bobcat not real forthcoming with any help? Thank you
@@tetradgroup i pulled filter and checked nothin but now that code is gone and the m0721 still there even before i start the machine im at wits end guess i will tell customer to take it to bobcat
Just got an s650 at auction. Its low on hydraulic fluid. The breather cap is on super tight. Can i fill thtough the other plug with the hex on it also on the top of the tank?
I think I am going to stick with the the procedure outlined in the service manual, I have an older machine, there are other screens/filers they want you to clean as part of this service.
