the MT100 is a good mini skid steer, what you got on rental will make you happy thats important,

Jury is still out for me on those things as a go-to woodyard machine. They do look handy, but I think I'd miss my tractor. If money were no object, I'd like to try the JCB 300T.
@765Guys
@765Guys Месяц назад
I googled jcb300t, looks out of my price range and I don’t have any local dealers to provide quick parts on the used worn out unit I’d be able to afford😂. These don’t fit everyone, your yard is plenty big and open that a tractor is a good fit for you.

Hey Genin , I believe that would be a very good addition . I like the idea of being smaller and still doing the same job . 👍🏻🇺🇸

That’s what I’ve been into lately, smaller compact machines that do the same job, thanks for watching del 👍

I'm considering a mini skid when we can get a piece of equipment here too. I really think I'd like having a pto though for other implements. Time and money will tell what we get, awesome demonstration of what they can do!!!

Some really good pros and cons! I’m really surprised and how well it lifted the totes! I think with the weight kit you’d definitely have no issues picking up whatever you need. I’d say the visibility is much better than tractor as well. Great video Genin 👏🏻

I’ve rented one in the past and like them. At the time i was finishing off the sides of my tree lined driveway and needed the compact size. I’ve got a mini-x, Bobcat T595 CTL, and several tractors, so I really don’t need more equipment. If money wasn’t an object, I’d definitely add one to my fleet. They’d be really handy in the woodyard for the reasons you noted.

I find a tractor to be like a Swiss Army Knife. It does an OK job at many things, but isn't great at any one thing. A couple of the other firewood channels I watch are using Baumalight mini skids in their operations and are having some success with it. I am having my back patio redone with interlocking brick at the moment and my landscaper is using the same Bobcat MT100. The main reason is the narrow width when having to enter through gates. He uses 36" buckets for the same reason. It's a workhorse of a machine.
@765Guys
@765Guys Месяц назад
The tractor is definitely a Swiss Army knife, just thinking maybe I should dial in my machine choice to exactly what I’m using it for 🧐. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I agree, your property is to large to travel slow on a mini skid or use smaller attachments, tractor is definitely the way to go for you.

@765Guys
@765Guys Месяц назад
That’s a good one! It looks like a tank in your videos. Seems like a lot of newcomers are entering the mini skid market, however bobcat has made mini skids for 20 years and my local dealer is awesome, so that will be my machine if I choose to go that route. I just value a product that is proven with parts readily available. Thanks for stopping by Matt!

@BobbySixguns Месяц назад
I've used the Toro variant and I have to pretty agree with everything you said. To me, it's the ideal mix between tractor and skid steer. Now, you can get most any 3 pt attachment for the front of that. Fits through the woods great. Just a versatile machine. My only real beef, they always seem tippy to me, even with the rear ballast weights installed. Hard to beat for a one man firewood operation. Few years ago, you couldn't find as many used attachments for them as you could 3pt tractor, but I'm sure that's changing as they have been around for a bit now. Plus, rentals are near by.
@765Guys
@765Guys Месяц назад
Spot on, I agree with them seeming tippy, quick hydraulics and short footprint really contribute to that. Thanks for stopping by and sharing Bob!

That's a great machine. Cost and complexity of repairs may be a bit of an issue?? It does help to have a local dealer. Great video
@765Guys
@765Guys Месяц назад
Possibly, if I get one I plan to get a low hour unit so repairs should be awhile out. I’m a decent mechanic and these are pretty simple machines. my local dealer can get ahold of most parts fairly quick and bobcat has great manuals and diagrams to help sort through issues. Thanks for watching Derek!

They are handy. I have a friend who has a dingo. But the bobcat definitely has advantages vs the toro. I’ve thought about getting 1. But can’t give up my skidloader. So would have to add another piece of equipment.
@765Guys

@TwinCityFirewood

Great video Genin!! I’ve looked into these little units and have had similar thoughts. If I was only using it for firewood, and nothing else, that’s probably what I’d have. But to be honest,, I love tractors new and old. I use my tractor for more than just firewood too. I have wondered if standing up for long periods of time would be irritating. You operate it well for no more time than you’ve had on it!! I could see its compact size being super handy.
@765Guys
@765Guys Месяц назад
It’s very easy to operate, I think if I was to run it for 8 hours straight my legs my hurt, the platform does have alot of flex to absorb bumps. I also know when I sit on my tractor for 2 hours busy hogging I’m ready to be done😂. Your spot on, just for firewood or like tasks, probably is the perfect machine, maintaining large property probably isn’t its strong point. Thanks for stopping by Jacob 👍

Finding one in an acceptable price range might prove difficult but looking into one of the smaller articulating wheel loaders might not be bad as they fall almost in between the tractor and mini skid steer, more maneuverable than a tractor but faster than a mini skid. no actual use in a woodyard type scenario but having used both an Avant 528 and Ditchwitch 1050 for tree service work I prefer the Avant although it does have a few more functions to learn.
@765Guys

Saw mike morgan's latest video and he was unloading a Vermeer mini skidsteer. Hard for me to picture the braggart, (mike) having to stand up to operate equipment. But yeah Genin those mini's would be the berries with a grapple to assist in cutting rounds. Easier to just step off than climb down off the tractor. Shame you can't keep the tractor too.
@765Guys

I saw mikes video, very similar opinions as me. I haven’t decided what I will do, if I was to keep the tractor I feel like it would be a shame to see it just sit. 90% of the time I need an all terrain forklift id choose to use the mini skid. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts Everett 👍

@@deanmoore420 I haven’t done anything yet, but I think pairing the mt and my mini will open doors to small side jobs as well be great in the woodyard. If I had 40 acres of property and constant maintenance I think I’d be crazy to get rid of the tractor but I don’t, it’s soley a loader for me. The only 3 point implement I use for myself is the trailer mover, all the other 3 point work I’ve done has been for family and friends. We’ll see what happens, I’ll definitely miss aspects of my tractor is I choose to sell it but I think I’ll definitely love aspects of the mini skid as well. Tough call for sure!

How much do the tracks tear up grassy areas?
@765Guys

They definitely leave some marks when turning. Nothing major that needs fixed up, but not as clean as tires. A notable difference as well though is the tracks have less ground pressure and on soft surface leave less ruts than the tires.
