Thank you, he is very smart. He is in the tub all the time. this was the first time he has been in there when the water was draining. I actually filled the tub up for me and he barged in and jumped in. He immediately peed in it. Bobcats love to pee in water. I don't know why, but they all do. So I had to drain it. He did not like it draining.
Yes. If you hear a bobcat scream or make one of their human like screams, or their growl, it is absolutely scary. it will make the hair on your body stand on end. A lot of people camping every year call 911 when they hear the screams. It sounds exactly like a woman screaming like she's getting murdered or something. and their growl is so deep that it sounds like a grizzly bear. If a person broke into a house where there was a bobcat inside, They would not be leaving that house under their own power. that's not a joke either. lol.
Thank you Laura. and thanks for sharing that about your Pit. They are one of the family and they realize that. they love us as much as we love them. and they will defend their family just as much as we would defend our family because they are one of the family. My Rott is much like your Pit. Always watching over the other animals here and protective of all the animals and humans. And especially kids. He just knows or thinks it's his job to protect everyone. It's pretty amazing what they do. Thanks again and have a great night.
It probably did. We laughed so much. He was in the bathtub almost everyday, but never when the water was draining. I didn't expect him to growl like that.
A1 Burdz thank you. It's been hard without him here for sure. He was an awesome. Little guy. Unfortunately they are illegal to own in most places. My opinion is they can be very happy living in captivity with people. But I do think it requires experience because they are a wild animal.
First of all, there are enough bobcats in the world and it's not like they are taking it from the wild. Secondly shame on all of you with your ridiculous ignorant comments. A bobcat can be raised just like a kitten and yes its a wild animal and not for everyone but obviously this one is a pet. I have had several wild animals as pets due to various circumstances and I have never had "my face ripped off". Don't you think they know the risks? I am sure they didn't put this video on here for people to criticize and judge them. I say I am happy for them and their bobcat as this guy obviously looks very happy. It's not ideal to take animals out of the wild but again, nobody knows the circumstances and even if they have decided ti raise one from a kitten that's no reason to be as rude as some of you have been. .
Kelli F I really don't advocate owning wild animals but I don't really know enough about Bobcats to say whether they can be good pets or not. This video clearly shows a loving Bobcat and I think I've read that they can be somewhat domesticated. There are always rare circumstances where a wild animal decides to domesticate itself also or of wild animals and predators befriending prey lol. It's not something I'd do but I'm too not knowledgeable enough about Bobcats to say whether this is right or wrong. It doesn't look wrong though. All I see is a loving pet. Just so long as they keep in mind that it is a wild animal and just take the proper precautions they'll probably be okay. It's not like they're bathing a freaking lion lol. I'd definitely get it spayed/neutered but I'd do that with regular cats. They can be a pain if they're not spayed and just have a much happier healthier life when they are spayed and neutered. Plus tom cat spray STINKS. Had to find that one out the hard way. My tom became very aggressive. No more cats who aren't fixed for me. They just all get along so much better now.
I don't believe that, I had a raccoon and a skunk and everyone said the same about them and they were amazing pets. This is much different, this is basically a big cat and if you have a domesticated cat where do you think they came from? Granted they have been tame for many many years but I can't believe that if you raised a bobcat from a kitten it would be anything other then just like your pet cat. You take a risk with any animal regardless.
+Robert Komarek - not true. Seems you have no experience w/ animals. Take my cousins kid, he was so scary he should have been exorcised. Know what that means? And that's a humanoid child for you. Dangerous. Animals on the other hand are "heaven sent". Adorable & trainable. Not like some children I know.
K I also raised a skunk and a raccoon, and I agree, they can be great pets, but certainly more challenging than a domesticated animal. As for the cat, you answered yourself. They are also domesticated. Bobcats are not. You can own one, and you may be up to the task. It does take far more skill and time however. Like owning a wolf. It's possible, but there will always be that "wild hair". Also, a skunk and raccoon do not look at you as prey. A Bobcat and a Wolf ... do. Big difference.
After reading these comments I'm starting to think every other person here considers themselves an expert on Bobcat rearing. Just ignore these idiots bobcat guy, it's obvious their jealousy is over flowing into the ignorant and presumptuous comments.
The Wild Bobcat that lived in the Area for 5 Years was very polite to my Neighbors and me. It did its thing and there were no issues. It used to check in about every 2 Months for a 15 Second Pow Wow. Always stayed about 6 Feet away and looked "Fabulous"... Lol.
Such a beautiful bobcat!!! Oh those eyes..such jewels! Can sweep you right off your feet! And his reaction to the water drain? Precious! Such a sweet baby. Oh I wanna hug him so bad, you're so lucky to have raised such a beautiful creature. A bobcat is my spirit animal.
People call these wild animals "Tamed" or "Domesticated" but I like to think of them as Opportunistic, :P . Hunt for food and fear starvation or have the Humans serve me Food and be well feed. Just like the House Cat.
there are two things to thing of, one its just like a house cat, two, its just like a house cat, so imagine how a house cat acts when pissed off but bigger
@@gaterjames There is, but they can twist around and get your arm with their hind claws. That "disembowel the rabbit" kick can seriously hurt you. ( I have owned and sometimes bathed 10 cats... and have scars.)
Very cool, I had a bobcat for many years and just loved that guy. never gave him a bath though. We have many many stories of antics bobby would play. Very lovable and never once intentionally hurt anyone but all the neighborhood dogs were afraid of him. Thanks for posting the vid. brought back a lot of memories.
All animals deserve a good home w/ a caring human. This cutie can't stop the water from going down the drain!. What a beautiful bobcat. A cat is a cat. Just like any other cat. I love cats, big & small. Cats are royalty.
+anna Last More often then not when people have a wild animal as pet they regret it. It is human arrogance to think their lifestyle is fit for animals. Animals did not ask to be domesticated. The question after that is where does it stop ? To my right is a video about a family with a pet tiger. Do you think it is a good idea for people to have pet tigers? The only people stupid enough to have a pet tiger are people who have never lived in tiger country. You don't see pet tigers in india or thialand, these are countries that have history of tigers killing people. I realize bobcats are not tigers and are no real danger to humans but it is still the same arrogance to think they should be pets. There is more than enough domesticated cats and dogs to go around, indeed there aren't enough good homes for these animals and since we truly domesticated these animals they can't survive on their own, were as bobcats are still wild animals that don't need humans to take care of them.
Interesting take, and probably the most popular belief among people that speak before they actually know the whole story. One point you are correct about is that most people regret getting a wild animal within a couple days of getting it because it destroys their house, or attacks someone, and people realize that they got in way over their heads. so they end up giving the to a sanctuary, but a lot of the time sanctuaries are full so the animals unfortunately get put down. Many many people in India and Thailand have tigers and other wild predators as pets. So that as just simply not true. I've been working with exotic animals for many many years and am very familiar with all aspects of private ownership of wild animals. Yes, there are plenty of domestic dogs and cats in our country that need homes. That is very true. But you neglected to say there are literally thousands of bobcats and other small wildcats that also need homes in captivity becuase they cannot survive on their own in the wild due to sickness or physical problems like my bobcat Benji here did . He could not be put into the wild because of his health. and it would have been illegal for me to set him free. and setting him free would have been a certain death sentence for him. So instead I volunteered to take him in and raise him and give him the best possible life that I could. and I have a lot of experience working with injured or sick wild animals that cannot be in the wild. Like I said, zoos and sactuaries are most always at full capacity and cannot accept new animals. so those animals that need placements that cannot be in the wild are just put down. Thank goodness there are others like me with experience and training to take in these animals so that they can survive and live a happy healthy life. Can or should just anyone attempt to adopt a wild cat like a bobcat? absolutely not. But please learn the whole story before judging something. There are many of us here in the United States that have saved thousands of wild animals that would have been put down otherwise, but instead lived happy lives where they were loved and well taken care of and received the medical treatment they so desparately needed. We are not rich, actually we are below average as far as income but we spent our money on him for medical, food, building a beautiful large enclosure, remodeling our house to prevent escapes and making it bobcat proof so that he would be safe in our house. We sacrificed not having knick knacks and decorations in our house. Our house looked completely bare except for climbing trees and large jungle gyms that I built for him to play on, because this was his habitat. and he absolutely loved it, and he loved us. But if you had watched our videos from when we got him you would have known why we had him and the good we did in taking him in. He was within a day or two of being put down before we got him, and I am so thankful for the years that we did have with him, and so happy that I filmed everyday of his life to share with the world here on youtube. I never promoted my videos for people to think that it's ok just to go out and get a bobcat, because I don't think that's right. I do believe though that if you have the training and knowledge and hands on experience that you should be able to adopt an animal in need. So, yes, some bobcats and other wild animals DO need humans to take care of them because of health reasons. and thank goodness there are people out there to do this.
Benji The Bobcat yeah sorry my comment must not have made much sense from that perspective. i was rather talking about a utopia in which even humans would be living free and not domesticated/socialized into an inescapable society from an early age. i am sure you are providing a good home for your cat and it most probably has a better life with you than qas a wild animal. however thats only the case because we humans already swarmed this earth so heavily XD in my opinion animals would be even better off if there had never been a species that became as self aware as us humans.
My great gran had mixed bobcats living in her yard all the time in Southern Georgia. Somehow the babies always seemed to find one of her grand kids to go home with. All in all they had great lives.
This is one of my favorite videos of Benji. You and your wife laughing is hysterical. And him growling is so cute. I loved when he stopped the water with his paw.
People own mountain lions, tigers, leopards and tigers as pets. I guess it just depends on the cats personality, but not all big cats owned as pets are dangerous.
But we also have big dogs as pets, just look at a rottweiler. Sure it could also attack you, but he won't if you take care of it and raise it right... It's safe as long as you raise the animal right
Nah, Cheetahs can be too, possibly some of the other lynx varieties, and snow leopards. Tigers have a good track record too, but not flawless, probably safer than wolf hybrids though, honestly. Mountain lions are the worst btw, the top killer of keepers, compared to the amount kept in capitivity, followed by jaguar and leopard.
That was funny he really was loving bath time. You could tell he didn’t want it to end so soon. Trying to stick his paw in the drain hole funny. I used to give my F-1 Savannah cat a bath she loved playing in the water.
Beni is as adorable as he is big. I only have a normal house cat and I put her in my empty bath as a comparison. All I can say is WOW you have a very impressive cat.😊😊😊😊
We had just bought the house that was in need of a lot of work, that is all finished now. So don't get your panties all bunched up over it. Check out newer videos and you will see it was all taken care of Mr. OCD man. Actually what is really gross is your horrendously "GROCE" misspelling of the word "GROSS". and I can also see that bad spelling runs in your family by the looks of your name. I knew it was hereditary. LMFAO anyway, I'm just joking around. have a great night.
I knew a guy that had a pet bobcat. he seen a car hit a pregnant bobcat, killing it instantly and he pulled over and went to move it off the road when he seen the momma's belly moving, so he cut it open and pulled the baby bobcat out. He was an awesome guy. R.I.P Ron
There was a guy who lived in my old home town who made a living doing things like this and he had a story really similar to this of one of his rescues, so it's not impossible. Improbable, but not impossible.
+commentgirl234 um, no thats not true there have been tons of ligers seen breeding and they have about the same lifespan of normal lions and tigers. watch some documentaries about it
I have raised bobcats deer and so many different animals and they are all the same every animal can be mean doesn't matter what they are and they all can be loving too and I take any animal into my home and show them love and never had any bad experience with any of them
Well, gee, just as you get to the best part, when the water completely drains away and disappears, you cut off the video! Would love to have seen this bobcat's reaction as the last of the water circled down the drain. Meanwhile, I did love watching him try to figure it out, and growling back at the drain, but really, you killed the punchline! ^~^
Yayyyyy! They look so happy to have a hot bath. But maybe try giving them a hot shower to see if they like that better, they seem reluctant to get all the way from head to toe soap suds'ed up. With smaller Cats it's easier perhaps to soak them, you hold them lightly while you soap suds them up and then rinse em off, towel em off, and brush them out from head to toe.
Hey thank you. He has a pond outside and he loves to swim. He goes all the way under and catches fish too. Its really fun. He likes to be sprayed by the garden hose outside in the summer. One of his favorite things to do was to swim and then quickly run into the house before shaking off then come up to one of us and shake the water all over us. Haha
+notsosilentmajority1 Thank you. He loved the water so much. He was always in the tub. I always had to make sure the door was shut if I was in the tub or he would literally run as fast as he could into the bathroom and just jump right into the tub. right on top of you. lol
+Benji The Bobcat I'm curious how did you wind up with Benji a friend of mine dated a chick that had two Lynx and I was just curious how you got a bobcat I've always wanted either a bobcat or a Lynx they are beaut berry beautiful animals
+Benji The Bobcat I had a brown bat for a pet from September to June because he accidently got painted and I wanted to see if I could save him I saved in he lost all his hair where the paint was I keep him fat and happy all winter he never did hibernate but he had plenty of crickets to eat plenty of fresh water and I used to get him out and he would crawl around on my arm crawl up on my shoulder and just hang out he never once tried to bite me and I actually started out feeding him by hand until I caught him hunting crickets on the aquarium floor so then I only fed him by hand every once in awhile that way he wouldn't be accustomed to when I turned him loose I ended up letting I'm go at my property and for the last three summers when I call him he'll Circle overhead a few times and then go back to what he's doing I miss having him but he was wild and it wasn't right to keep him locked up and it wasn't like he was a baby when I got him he was already fully grown if I got him as a baby it would have been a little bit different story I do miss him he was one of the coolest animals I had the pleasure of having for a little while
They point out a serious and valid concern and all you can say is something juvenile. Must mean your home is a trash heap if you would get so defensive over a stranger's house state.
haha. yes, actually that's not a bad idea. there are a lot of injuries. It just comes with the territory. A bobcat has never killed a person, so life insurance may be a bit of a stretch. lol. but it is possible. They have severely injured people for sure.
What The F Blog haha. That's very true. That's why when you have an exotic predator you have to go through one of only two insurance companies that cover them. It's a million dollar policy for each animal. Crazy expensive.
As Ben Shapiro always tells me, you are going to die so get some life insurance because when it's too late you can't fix it then and what happens to poor Bobby here
I love this! I had a cat that was half domestic and half bobcat! They are the most amazing animals. I live way out in the boonies and get to see these guys on a regular basis. I also get to see a mountain lion, coyotes, and all sort sof other wild "beasties". I thouraghly enjoyed the video and cant wait to see more.
Thank you so much Imad. I feel the exact same about your content. The hinge that you do are a dream for me. I wanted to tell you congrats on 10k subs. And you deserve alot more. Everest has always been a dream of mine. I don't think it will ever happen though. But I am trying to get back to making videos again. If I do I'd love to do a collab with you. You do such amazing things. Thank you so much and have a great day. George
That is so cute! The cat species are curious creatures. My cat likes to chase streams of water when I squirt it out of a water bottle and doesn't care if I squirt him in the process. It's funny to watch. Your bobcat looks like he enjoys the water very much! 🙂
Please for the love of god put a disclaimer with these videos so you're not encouraging people to get wild and dangerous bobcats. Seriously idk if you're at a cat sanctuary or something but they do not make good house pets and if you say you have had one that didn't attack you then you got lucky. Not saying you're evil or wrong but this kind of thing could lead to people and the cats getting hurt.
megalomania345 As you can clearly not see. Even wild animals tend to portray elements of Domestication even though they are in fact wild. A leopard may act like a common house cat but that moment when it turns wild is what i'm talking about.
+Nate M If the laws were different I may put a disclaimer but bobcats are illegal to obtain pretty much anywhere now. so we don't have to worry about it. and in the states where it is still legal the laws are very strict. so just anyone can't go out and just buy a bobcat or tiger or anything like that. I did these videos to share benji's life with the world and I actually do talk in many videos about the ups and downs of exotic ownership and that it is imperative that before eve even thinking about buying an exotic animal like a bobcat it is important to receive training and hands on experience. Too many people just went out and bought one and ended up in the first few days getting attacked, bitten, and mauled, and their houses destroyed. So I definitely think training and hands on experiece are viial before ever getting one.
***** yes they are. And I agree that just the average person with no experience should not be allowed to obtain one until they have training and experience. Which is a major point that I raised with the governor of our state but was just completely ignored
Specialist in Failure You'd be incredibly naive if you think otherwise. I've seen people get crazy pets because they saw one other person with one. Shit just look at Donald Trump. He's obviously bad but you see one person vote for him and then you might want to.
