My faithful LG tablet has started to give me some issues with charging, so it was time to replace. I went with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. This is a step by step video on how to download and install the BobT maps on an Android tablet. Your tablet must have built in GPS. I install using Orux Maps but if you are using Back Country Navigator app you will follow the same basic instructions. This video shows downloading the West Virginia, Virginia, and Kentucky Outlaw Trails and Hatfield McCoy trail systems but there are other systems to choose from in the BobT Maps.

We use hillbilly navigation on outlaw trails....no equipment necessary except a big pack of chalk makers that kids play games on sidewalks with.

I don't have an Orux folder in my file manger. I've followed this three times and it doesn't show up in file manger.

Once I bring up Orux I can see the map at first then it goes away and I get a blue back ground

Thanks for the video. Any idea how far you can ride in a day? Starting in War, could i cover the four connected trail systems in a couple of days?

Hey! You could ride Warrior, Pinnacle Creek, Pocahontas, and Indian Ridge from War. You could cover a lot in a couple days.... long days.

Southern SXS Riding posted this below and it may help. Let me know if it doesn't: The maps can also be loaded into the correct file folders without the need of a file manager app taking up space on the tablet. Using a PC, download the file(s) to desktop then connect the tablet to the PC by usb port. After the PC recognizes the tablet you can then locate the oruxmaps mapfiles folder on the tablet, copy and paste the new file into mapfiles folder and you're done. It takes me 5 minutes to update Bob T's on my tablet using this method...no need for a file manager. I also bookmarked BobT's map files on the mediafire link. That takes me right to the files for uploading. Back Country Navigator files can be uploaded just as quick connecting the tablet to a PC.

I could not see what icon you touched to start GPS. Andni cannot find mine... what does the icon look like. I can see where I can add and change icons.

I cant seem to view my regular maps ever since I overlayed the Bob T maps onto Orux. Everything is just a light blue backround. Is there a way to get the standard map views back?

Unfortunately not….. or at least I am not aware of how. If you use backcountry navigator app you can choose a topo map as a background.

@@MidwestAtvGroup follow the lines. It won’t actually tell you we’re to go. You can plan trips and it does track you which is nice.

Hello I am planning on trip to Buffalo mountain trails the Hatfield McCoy trails, can I use this on my Samsung s20 phone and do you recommend for beginners, does map show me where I'm at like Google would for cars, thanks

Hi! Yes, you can use on your Samsung s20. Your location is marked on the maps, you just have to plan your route.

Thank you for the video. I have a Samsung A7 Lite tablet and I followed your instructions and I now have the 2023 maps in my Orux maps - the maps automatically went into my Orux maps without me having to move them or paste them - I'm guessing the newer technology helped with that - not sure. Anyway, I followed your instructions for opening the maps, but when I went to map settings - none of the things that are in your video showed up on mine. There are no options for me to click KML overlay settings. Not sure if the upgrade in maps to 2023 is the reason or something else. Any ideas or thoughts?

You have to take it out of the easy beginner mode, and all the extra settings will show up

I think you can but it doesn’t come across the same. I highly recommend getting an android tablet for the mapping.

No, if you downloaded it should show up. Did you try “downloads”? May go there.

I have the app, I can open and use it. But it’s not in main storage so I can’t copy and paste the Bob t maps in it.

I found this video while trying to load Bob's maps, for some reason I do not have the Orux maps file in my main storage, how do I find this file because I do not see where you created one. I am not very computer smart so any help will be appriciated.

Quick Question???? I just got a new Galaxy S7 FE 5G Tablet and went through your video and downloaded the apps you suggested but I can't get the Orux Maps folder to show up in my file manager plus. I have tried un installing them thinking that the file manager had to be there first and visa versa and re booted each time and still no luck. Checked my permissions and it shows to allow everything to File Manager and it's driving me a little crazy as I downloaded the map ( WV-VA-KY May-13 2022 ) Public Map img and it show up in the download folder as it should just no Orux folder?? Any assistance would be GREATLY APPRECIATED as I am heading there in 2 days.

It should be the same process but in GPS file depot it’s listed North Cumberland ATV Trails.

How can you overlay a map with street names on this map? BobT has a tutorial but it’s from 2016 and the multi map option he shows is not available on my orux version.

I’m not sure how to do that on orux, but you can get back country navigator and install bobs maps on it. It has several different map backgrounds that you can overlay his map on.

press maps button, then composite (it is beside offline) then create a composite map with either topo, aerial, street maps etc as the bottom layer and the bobt map as the second layer.
