It was a hot and dusty distant trek out of the city to pay the customs officials and a race against the clock to return in time to take the watch from the faraway post office. Given that it was a Friday, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the folks in the international cargo department hadn't left early, as is often the case.
This is the groom's watch. I am a bit disappointed in the lume on the dial, since it is not exemplary of the images on the company website. And in fact, the photos on the site also had lume on the bezel indices, which are non-existent on this example, aside from the pip. But, my complaint is immaterial, since I am gifting this to someone that will probably be happy with the lume that is present.
The Miyota 8215-33E features 21 jewels and 42 hours of power reserve. The strap is PU Rubber as opposed to what I misidentified as silicone, meaning that it is more resistant to abrasion. This is a nice, rugged and straightforward watch that is versatile enough to wear in a number of situations without being a distraction.
I always say that the best gifts are the ones you want for yourself and this watch is no exception. I had intended to buy this watch for myself some months ago, but got distracted in pursuit of others. However, having purchased this for the groom, I was inspired (envious) to purchase one for myself - albeit in bronze.
