An afternoon out. A circular walk exploring The Hurlers an ancient (3500 years old) stone circle, The Cheesewring famous weathered balancing stones with a bonus visit to Goldiggings a hidden flooded locally know pit, a walk through the quarry back to an old engine house with a mini museum in.
It starts at the famous village of Minions on Bodmin Moor at a free car park
I’ve made this a circular walking route starting and finishing in the same place to make it accessible for all.
It’s a walk of 3 1/2 to 4 miles which can be added to with plenty of more options to explore.
There are at the start/finish tea rooms and cafes in the village of the famous Minions
This is a walk of nearly all footpaths or open Moorland (so you can find your own path 😀)
Get a taste of what mining was about or take in the fantastic views.
Allow yourself 3 to 4 hours to give some time to explore or just sit and take in this natural beauty
Enjoy 😀😎

Ahoy, ahoy! I am so very catchy-uppy after a summer of boats & fishing. Now it's time to geddon with the stomps again. Easing in with a 2 day wild one (well, not so wild) - Dartmoor, Templers Way in a couple of weeks. Also looking at around Minions - so interesting to see the engine houses so close to other interesting stuff. Never really explored that area TBH. As an aside from Bodmin John - have you ever found this book... "Worth's Dartmoor"? I stumbled across it while kicking tyres in a Devon library several years ago - it has been my Dartmoor bible ever since sourcing my own copy. Worth a look up for some VERY off the beaten track stuff (detail, detail, detail. Followed by some minutiae). Cheers again champ! Love this land and it's great to see you do too! Cheers Jack

That was very beautiful. I recognize it from my visit there last summer and it is a really lovely area. And quite surreal to see how these stones have been stacked like this. Thank you 😊
