Thank you so much! If you add the butters in equal portions, then 40% oil should work

Thank you so much! I’m a newbie so I wanna make sure I got it. If you wanted to make 100 oz jar. Ingredients will include mango and Shea, would I do 80 oz Shea, 20 mango oz, 30% oil, 1 % fragrance? And then from there I can make 10, 10oz smaller jars? We appreciate your knowledge

Great question! When developing a formula for body butter, it's best to reach out to a qualified formulator to finalize your recipe measurements. What if you’re mixing butters though? How do you know the correct calculation then?

Customers that have done this mention that they've chosen a ratio that is in the middle of the hardness level of the butters, from very hard (cocoa) to very soft (shea)

Hi Soozie, you can just add the oz of butters used and oz of oils used to come up with a total yield. You can use any size containers, just divide your total oz by number of containers you'd like to make.

My hands are really dry and need something thicker in the cream so it doesn’t melt into oil right away on my hands. Can I add beeswax to my butter recipe and if so, what’s the beeswax ratio? I browsed your channel and couldn’t find one with beeswax - I found a lip balm video made with beeswax, would that be suitable for a hand cream recipe too?

Hi V, yes I think a wax is a great addition to a hand cream to create a barrier to protect your skin. Beeswax especially is great at drawing moisture into your skin. When I have added beeswax to existing butter recipes, I just added 1-2 oz and didn't whip the butter to create sort of a soft balm/butter hybrid that is easy to scoop.

It depends on how much naturally hard (cocoa, kokum) vs naturally softer (shea, mango) butters you are going to use. If you are using equal parts of each, most customers mixing butters prefer to go with a butter/oil ratio somewhere in the middle, such as the 60% butter to 40% oil ratio used for mango. No, not if there isn't any water or water-based product in your customized recipe. The shelf life for a mix of just butters, oils, and waxes is around 6 months if stored away from excessive heat and moisture.
