That’s exactly what I was thinking. There is no way in hell I would run at 4:30 am. Memphis is a hell hole. She was so vulnerable and petite. She had no chance.
The woman really ran in the dark, saw a black van speed ahead of her, stop abruptly, and she still ran towards the van. There was no helping her tbh. I’m not even a woman but whenever I’m running in the dark, I’m glancing behind me every so often and whenever I hear/see a car, I note it and brace myself. It also helps to be sharing your location with people while on your run and I carry a baton with me to run. I live in a relatively safe suburb mind you and I see others running/walking as well, but you can never be too careful.
A whirlwind of profound sadness. My heart breaks for her husband, children & all of those who knew her. This particular case just *really hurts my heart.*
Years ago I would've agreed. But I believe death is the end of suffering. It's eternal peace. I believe these people should be locked up and kept alive in misery for years and years.

When you lock a person up for that long alot of them come out as a super predator. They're extremely angry, extremely violent and they couldn't care less if they return to prison. Prison is all they know now and they don't mind. As long as they can inflict maximum damage they just don't care. We have to do better. When someone is sentenced to life, it should be LIFE. PERIOD. Not life with eligibility or 25 to life. Our system continues to fail us. God bless her family. 🙏

We need restorative justice, this poor man was another victim of the school to prison pipeline as explained by Mrs Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. We failed him by allowing the private prison industry to continue for so long. Nobody would care about the young lady involved if she was not a white woman of privelege and because of her this man will likely never have a chance to resume a normal life.

I used to run early before work and was lucky no one caused me harm. Women please be careful when you run , walk alone especially in the early morning or late hours.
I'm 19 and I have gotten a firearm and have been practicing ever since. This world has gotten very dangerous and it's worth now to be carrying for protection. Horrible to hear about this though.

Sounds to me like someone wanted to get rid of her for financial purposes. I mean, his previous arrest being connected to her as well. I would totally keep an eye on the killers relatives and friends bank accounts. Totally delve into family spats…cause at the end of the day, you can’t always trust everyone. RIP 🙏🏼
And look through the husband’s bank accounts, phone look at all the icons cause the husband could have a woman on the side and the app’s on his phone says it’s a calculator, life insurance policy’s and bills see if he has a gambling problem.
Unbelievable, it makes me so sick knowing we live in a place where you can be out jogging minding your own business and out of nowhere have your life snatched from your body. Violent crimes, like the kidnapping he did prior should be given the longest, strictest sentences! No early release. You want to do something to hurt another, you stay in jail. Period. I am heartbroken for her family
May she rest in peace. Goodness. I wouldn't go running anywhere that early without my dog. It breaks my heart seeing a fellow teacher as bright and cheerful as she was only to have such a tragic end. Absolutely devastating. My heart especially goes out to her family- Losing a mother and a wife so young.
So sad:( We all wanted the best outcome. I'm not victim blaming at all.. Us ladies just can't go out like that anymore alone. It's sick but we need to take care of ourselves.🙏 That's what it comes down to. Because the system does not protect us in the end.
4am in the dark alone...ladies in a perfect world we should be able to go where we want when we want, but that's just not the case and probably never will be. That’s what happens when prisons fail to actually rehabilitate. They lock people up for years, treat them like animals, and then unleash them in to the public. The entire system is to blame.
it's insane how we hear how dangerous it is to go out alone at night. but ppl do it anyways. i will never understand night/dawn runs. As a marathon runner for over 10 years now, I never go when it's dark due to safety.
I don’t know her, but having seen the actual video of her abduction - I could only hope and pray for her safe return and when I heard that the guy was cleaning the back of his SUV around 10 that morning I could only fear the worst and todays announcement only confirmed the worst.

Humans can be so good, yet more evil than anyone can imagine.. can't imagine what she went through in her dying moments..... never letting the women in my family run in the dark ever again.
it's understandable.....the judges, ect live in a different world...let them walk the streets of Memphis in almost any neighborhood and fear for their lives from the animals that make up about 70% of the city's population and they would understand quickly
& THIS is exactly why I can’t even go for a walk at night when the temperature is actually bearable, so I can’t even safely exercise w the easiest method being walking or jogging bc during daylight hours the heats been too unbearable. But If I did what she did I’d also be putting my safety at serious risk. It’s just a shame the world we live in. I live in a fairly quiet town too, but still I mean I went to high school w a boy a year younger than me who 20 years after graduation attempted to kill both his parents w a kitchen knife, he DID manage to kill his father, but his mother survived his attack.
Poor lady this sucks hate it when someone who actually has a life is taken senselessly by someone who couldn’t care less about theirs, I don’t regret going on runs with a female friend who would go on runs at all times of the day and night now looking back at it

I felt as more time passed that this would be the outcome. So tragic that 2 young children no longer have their mother. Sympathy to all of her loved ones. She seemed to be a really lovely person. Hopefully her perp will just rot in prison. He has made it clear he has NOTHING productive to contribute to free society.
