Haha, this is funny. Oh,also i know you arent into manhwas anymore but i need to spread this: messy rant of remarried empress I'm gonna pour all of my emotions here since I need a good stress release after reading this. This whole post contains spoilers. also, please give me recs in the comment of actual good rulers preferably with a female protagonist and political intrigue I need some cleansing after reading that mess. .. .. People literally support Lebetti and Alan, when they're slave owners and abandoned a teenage Rashta after giving birth. But ofc Lebetti is a sunshine child because she has portraits of Navier. Alan is ofc not criticized as a wimp which is the one of the main cause why Rashta have to run away in the first place. if people are gonna excuse Navier of normalizing slavery because of her upbringing, then stop bringing up Rashta solding a girl to slavery. Not only does Navier normalize slavery but also CHILD slavery and have openly reminded her this once by inviting Rashta's ex-slave owners. Both are bad but stop making Navier a saint when pointing out Rashta's mistakes when she have made the same (some even worse). Also that girl was literally the one of her ex owners so I can't really blame Rashta when it's clear how they treated her. Also, if people are gonna bring up that the author is Korean so Korean slavery is not the same as European slavery and classified as Nobi. Here's what I've searched, Nobi (노비) class of Joseon. They were a class of servants, serfs, and slaves that existed to serve the Yangban (Noblemen) class. Their status must defined by what can legally be done to them, not what benefits they could legally be afforded. Following this logic, “slave” is best to describe the nobi, who could be legally beaten even to the point of death (Kim, 125), raped (Hee-sook, 123), or starved (Kim, 118), even if their treatment differed by time, place, and master (Kim, 108-109). journeys.dartmouth.edu/marcanovicoff22/the-meaning-and-importance-of-nobi/ Girlboss moments weren't actually girlboss. Educated adult woman empress vs uneducated teenage slave. Not really an impressive feat. showing how Rashta was once not before considered human is not very noble and compassionate of her, as the narrative stated. The sexism that seems to be there just to make Navier looks good. Its either to make her pitiful for the readers or non-existent if its convenient of her (the lack of criticism when she suddenly married another emperor after she just divorced). I've expected more tension and power struggle. Now, I've already dropped it after I've read the spoiler that Viscount Landre is some kind of multinational knight and he doesnt seem to have any important role other than to showcase how girlboss Navier is. Theres also this ice powers and how her kids will inherit Sovieshu's empire which annoys me because where is her fucking conscience to AGREE to this. Her kids father would have the blood of the same man that harmed her citizens (the mages) which have obviously destroyed their livelihood and caused the empire's military to weaken. Once lari gets the throne, this would also not grant Navier power but also Heinrey since he is Lari's father (at least an influence). According to another spoiler I've read is that she KNOWS and have only given a Heinrey a slap on the wrist and the "commoners dont like her anyway". Take this last sentence with a grain of salt because this is from a spoiler and I'm not going to read the novel for several reasons. And if ever this is true, this would just annoy me because the narrative and framing of the story always paints her as a saint when she's not. She barely cares about her citizens and empire. She's just doing it out of duty. Now, my most hated in Remarried empress is not Rashta, nor Navier, nor Sovieshu. It's the author. In every chapter, I felt like it's either to elevate Navier and widen the gap between them which i think is smart tbh. Smart for bussines, not smart for writing. The drama in each chapter just keeps the readers hooked. The classism is poorly written. Also, i dont really like how the male antagonist got to live. Like author should have atleast make smth more cruel than him yearning for Navier. Rashta is also MID, yet the most well written one. She doesn't have atleast one good trait because if she does then the readers would side with her instead of Navier. She's a caroonish villain with a backstory. But in the end, the writer has intended to make her bad to worst so there wasnt really any depth except that shes there to agitate the readers. Her personality and actions are out of nowhere in the beginning like suddenly claiming the letters are hers when she barely can read. Her actions later are the one who makes sense because of the people (Duke Ergi, and her ex-owner) making her more paranoid. Its cruel when she cuts the cut the maid's tongue but i can excuse that when Navier literally normalizes a child being treated like a slave. Navier, well the world revolves around her. If only, she was WRITTEN by the author and the writing FRAMES her as a passive yet petty empress then i would have atleast supported her. But thats not the case. Shes always the victim and poor her for not being treated like an animal, studying hard in her luxurious mansion while her family loves and supports her. She's an enabler to many problematic people who are good just because they worship the ground she has walked on. Her brother is also a fuckin brat that was sent to the borders due to her violence and poisoned Rashta with an abortion drug but ofc it's good because he loves Navier anyway. Heinrey is a creep. He turns into a bird and secretly invaded Navier's personal space while in her most vulnerable moments. Kaufman, well the spoilers about him turns me off. He still loves and chases after Navier even while she's pregnant. There are times you need to give up, and this just comes off as those "nice guys" who can't understand no. Sovieshu should have been Overthrowned, then tortured, then exiled and live as a beggar. Duke Ergi which some readers have simped on has used a teenage girl and cause her to experience constant paranoia. Edit: conscience not consciousness
