Good to see Body Solid getting some love finally on YT. For some reason they get no coverage whatsoever from reviewers, probably because they like to fly under the radar.

That bench is brilliant. Some did that mid locally for their normal body solid curl / extension and added a pulley to be able to connect to cable machine. I literally sent this idea to rep and rogue last week. I sent pictures of the mod the guy did.

In the market for that similar setup(power rack with functional trainer). I got 3 in mind, 1: Rep pr5000 with athena weight included $3770 roughly. 2: The cheaper major fitness with functional trainer around $800. 3. body solid rack with trainer. $2675. Great video and very interesting, this video helped me with my search.

I really like this setup nice work! The only thing I would change is the bench setup. The seat on the bench would angle up to line up better with the knee pad and the backrest would be able to decline for hip flexion which is better for leg curls. If you really want to go a step further is to make it a dual cable resistance like the Inspire SCS bench. 👍😎

I don't believe they had a booth there, but I think the MAXUM Fitness SX2 looks like one of the best all-in-one options on the market. Has unique features like articulating arms for the functional trainer, includes a leg press plate that turns the smith machine into a vertical leg press, and a bunch of other cool stuff included!

Nice job with the interview. Glad to see Body Solid is stepping up their game. I feel like in the early 2000s they were one of the best brands and now with all the competition since the pandemic they are once again starting to stand out from the crowd. In 2002 (?) I had a Body Solid smith machine and dip station and it just felt almost commercial grade even though it was for in your home which is much better then their lowest product line (Best Fitness) smith machine that I currently have. I like that open trap bar it reminds of the Rep one. The bench being able to attach to a pulley system is a great idea. As for the fat grip lat attachments they already have competition since Bells of Steel released their version just last week. Not sure if they are there but if they are I would love to hear more about Deltech Fitness products in particular their pec deck with lat pulley all in one unit.

My issue with all these bench attached leg extensions is the limited range of motion that cuts out the full knee bend, these Body Solid ones look to be the same ☹. A lot of the latest science says training with tension at longer muscle lengths is the most hypertrophic part of the movement and for the quads that would be when your knees are fully bent. Someone really needs to come out with a cable resistance leg extension/curl attachment that allows the feet to come back under the bench to get a good stretch on the quads and move your legs from full knee flexion to full extension. For this reason, I just use ankle straps and a cable and that allows me to bend my knees to bring my feet almost all the way back under me at the start or do reverse nordics which are essentially a bodyweight lengthened partial leg extension.
@LukesGarageGym
@LukesGarageGym 4 месяца назад
I hear you! Seems to be the norm with all these machines is that ROM you are saying. I have not tried the ankle strap method! Do you just elevate your bench to do it?
@killerkhatiby009
@killerkhatiby009 4 месяца назад
@@LukesGarageGym Yup! I have to do them one leg at a time with my current bench so my process is: incline the bench about 15°, angle the bench slightly in front of the pulley so the bench frame isn't in the way, drape one leg over that raised head and stabilize with the other leg on the ground, clip the ankle straps to the cable (may need some short chains or something to extend it a little). I'm looking to get a new bench like the Flybird FB-3000 or something with leg rollers that attach to the back pad side so I can instead incline the bench/rollers which creates open space underneath the back pad, then center the bench between my two functional trainer pulleys, attach both pulleys to the widest holes on a spreader bar, then attach both feet to more central holes on the spreader bar and basically have a full ROM two-legged cable leg extension setup. So I'm looking for a wider, non-tapered bench ideally with some leg rollers (bottom rollers have to be removable too so they aren't in the way) or just an extra wide back pad to fit both legs at a time.

@@killerkhatiby009just sounds like a hassle to set up tbh. Have to look at whether the set up time is worth all that
@killerkhatiby009
@killerkhatiby009 4 месяца назад
@@abu8492 For sure, that's one of the biggest downsides of having a home gym with limited space, you can't setup dedicated stations for every exercise. I will say, it's actually not that bad to setup for the leg extensions, it sounds like more work than it really is. Once you figure out the process and dial it in to your preferences after a few sessions you can get it done pretty quick. I find it to be a similar amount of effort as setting up for a bench press or squat on a rack by getting the bar and safeties out and in place and loading up plates and lining up the bench and all that. I use more time right now on the fact that I have to do it unilaterally rather than bilaterally, so once I have a new bench to do bilateral leg extensions it'll be even more time efficient. But sometimes, the way I justify a little more setup time is that I compare it to the travel time and locker room changing and waiting for equipment and all that that I would deal with having to go to a public gym. In general, I find it balances in favor of me still saving time by working out at home even when there are exercises that require effort to setup. There's always reverse nordics if you want a similar exercise with basically no setup time! Haven't tried using those yet but probably will incorporate it as an alternative when certain movements get stale.
