You actually listed all the yin and yang characteristics in nature as the opposites. In Chinese philosophy, yin is passive while yang is active, beyond masculine vs feminine. Yin = moon, hidden, dark, winter, cool, negative, calm, closed, death Yang = sun, obvious, light, summer, warm, positive, energetic, open, life

I made an error........the examples in the beginning of the video are backwards (the ones pertaining to nature). The Kibbe example are correct. Thanks lovelys for pointing that out ✨

Did you already edit and repost the video? Because I don't see how the nature images are "backwards", they fit perfectly with what you're saying. If this is the "error" you're referring to, don't worry about it, just keep the video as it is. :)

I understand yin/yang so I wasn’t fazed by the flipped intro, but for someone who is new to that concept it might be confusing. Loved this video. I love seeing real life examples, especially casual looks for yin types.

Wow what a difference in the two casual outfits for Kate Winslet! Interestingly Katharine Hepburn wasn’t said to be very tall but she had the lines of a Dramatic and always looked tall. She had an iconic modern style. Women are still inspired by her .

Kellie Gallagher Right! Yeah I really wanted to showcase that Kate is able to honor her romantic lines while still dressing in the same elements. Crazy what a little bit of tailoring and color (the addition of the white T) can do! And yeah, Katherine was only a few inches above average at about 5’8” but you’re right....she has that gorgeous vertical line and angular frame. I feel like she’s a very underrated style icon! Another D that isn’t very tall at all is Keira Knightly. I’ve thought about her often and really can’t picture her as any other Kibbe type. She is SO dramatic.

I'm 100% yin physically, but my natural 'energy' doesn't fit this type - I'm pretty charismatic, creative and boisterous - I doubt anyone's ever described me as 'feminine' or 'sweet'. I'd just like to let people know that your body type doesn't determine your personality/energy, that's what makes you unique.

I just discovered you last night, and WOW... I have determined I am a Romantic, and now I understand why I don't like boyfriend jeans, maxi skirts, and tailored blazers. What an eye opener. I'll stick to my skinny jeans, flowy tshirts, and fit and flare dresses. :) Thank you so much for your channel.

Hey Elyssa, love your content and instagram. Just a quick heads up, your initial yin and yang examples at the start of the video were all incorrect, you have the opposites. eg. yang is bright, expanding, high energy, fire. Yin is dark, contracting, moon, quiet, flowing.

I’m guessing I need unconstructed pieces as I am a FN. That streamlined narrow silhouette really helps my wider bone structure and broad shoulders. Michelle Dockery has had some very beautiful red carpet moments, especially with cuts and color. Kate Winslet is an oil painting in real life. Such a romantic beauty.

E W yes, the frame of a FN is naturally meant to showcase an elongated and straight yet flowing silhouette. That sort of silhouette works *with* the FN’s frame rather than against it. Also, FNs look very flattering in unconstructed head to to looks but this doesn’t mean that they can’t wear blazers per se. It’s more a matter of considering the balance of tailoring and drape that will accommodate your FN frame, shape and essence best 🤗

Hi ! Great video, really interesting. You deserve way more followers, your videos are such great quality in form and content. I love that last orange and brown dress on Michelle, it’s such a good idea this geometric pattern to keep the vertical line. Otherwise, I pretty sure that sun in yang and moon is yin (not that important 😅). From what I had understood narrow is yang and wide is Yin.

I haven't actually watched the video yet, but you seem to have mixed up Yin and Yang. Yin is 陰 in Mandarin, which means 'shadow'. Yang is 陽 in mandarin, which means 'bright, sunny'.

I have a question about the Romantic type . Is it possible to have that body type without an obvious hourglass figure.? Could you have some curving and fleshiness , the small but wider hands and feet but have the the hourglass like Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor? Or is that a must ? I ask because it goes back to mistyping because many wouldn’t relate to a Marilyn or Elizabeth and could mistype. Also some systems add Marilyn Monroe to the Ingenue or Youthful essence which isn’t a particular body type but like Ethereal still affects the overall impression of the person. How do think that affects the body type?

I'm inclined to think so. Your body sounds like mine. I definitely am an hourglass, but I don't have big curves as I'm still a size 0-2. I think it's important not to take each Kibbe ID too literally (i.e. romantics will not have x, y, z) but rather, look at each individual line in your body and see how it harmonizes together. For what it's worth, I'm a Romantic with a lot of 'D' answers on the test (I also have 2 C's and 2 E's). The C answers lie within my bust and hipline, and the fact that I have more D and E answers is more than likely why I don't look like a 'typical' Romantic like Marilyn Monroe.

Yes, you don't have to have EVERY element to fit the type. As long as you suit Romantic more than the other types and you look good in Romantic clothing then I think you truly are that type. I think its actually normal to have one or two elements that are slightly different from the rules. That's what makes everyone special and different. Each Romantic person has a different story to tell.

@@tomjones2157 totally agree with this! For example, Christina Ricci and Beyonce are Kibbe verified Romantics. They look so different from one another, but they are very yin.

Kellie Gallagher it’s definitely possible to be R without a seemingly obvious hourglass figure. Christina Ricci and Susan Sarandon are the ones that stick out to me when I think of R that don’t necessarily have an extreme hourglass figure. BUT R will ALWAYS be curve dominant. Their focus is always on accommodating curve. I go back and forth on including verified celebrities in my videos because I feel like it could add to the confusion. But viewers like to be able to see a physical example and I made a video explaining why they shouldn’t compare themselves to celebrities, so I think I’m on the right track to covering some bases👍🏻 Ingenue and Ethereal aren’t a part of the Kibbe system, so they’re not really a good metric to determine your Kibbe Image ID. But something that closely resembles the “Youthful” description in Kibbe’s system is Essence. Essence does contribute (not necessarily dictate) to your overall yin/yang and has a lot to do with expressing yourself through personal style. Remember, you’re considering your frame, shape and essence in the Kibbe system. So the aim is to always accommodate your frame and shape. Essence will impact personalizing the head to toe look. Essence bridges the gap between clothes just fitting your body correctly and actually expressing yourself through style. Does that make sense and answer your question?

I think I know what you mean by this. But to answer your question, yes.....Bessie we’re all a particular mixture of yin and yang (except for the rare case of 100% Dramatic or 100% Ingenue). But I think you’re saying that you’re an obvious mixture of the extremes, right? Not so “blended”. Am I understanding you correctly?

I think michelle dockery might not have been the greatest example of yang. Someone here said she's a dramatic classic but i think she's actually pure classic, thus being in the middle of the ying-yang spectrum. The very straight dress you showed was too angular and shapeless on her, while as the simple fittedness of the yellow and brown dress really showed off her curves and how balanced she is overall.
