Except for people get away with murder all the time. Statistically speaking there are unsolved murders that happen every year. Most people are incapable of planning anything perfect though and crimes like this are usually spontaneous, emotional and erratic so they make mistakes.
They need to give this man something for stumbling across the remains! If he never went out there for whatever reason they would have NEVER found this beautiful young girl to lay to rest.
@subrizi6863 I don’t know him, of course, but he strikes me as the type who wouldn’t accept a reward if one had been offered: just a good, honest and conscientious human.
Put his name in lights because God used him that day.. I hope him and family stay in touch, I can only imagine when he started to hear who she was and saw her face, it has too be very hard. I pray for her family n him n his family
@@cm1642 I agree...but this isn't the UK where everyone who cares goes and looks around, especially when a child who is missing. The UK is a small country...maybe that's the difference? Was US GA law enforcement mobilizing searches? No I don't believe they were. There are private organizations like Texas equa search etc. Private charities. It's sad...but think about Susana being 20 miles away from her home and the expanding circles that would have had to be covered. No not impossible....just wear do people start?
@@blackcherry6877 and I think is was God who led that bystander to the remains. That was a long walk who does that? Park your car at the hwy and just walk into the woods.
I’ve seen many other criminal investigation type videos and typically the personal information especially phone number and address are muted out. I’m not sure why that was not the case with several of the witnesses in this case! I agree it is very bothersome because my first thought was hey I could pick up the phone and call that guy right now and ask him what it was like stumbling across a crime scene-not that I would-but I had the thought!
You can go request the last 10 felony cases in your city, every one of those cases will have personal info. Height, weight, eye color, race, sex, address, phone number, even the social security number. Its really easy to browse the people that get locked up, find one that looks kinda similar to you, and you just stole that person's identity. The legal system sucks, itsout dated and the clerks are just lazy, it should all be redacted
@@ZacharyWillYou are 100% correct. Anyone with a cursory understanding of history would know that humans have always been capable of extreme savagery toward each other
The 90/ 00 babies grew up with way more access to porn in their young years… and start doing stuff a lot earlier imo compared to 70s and 80s… they have more fantasies imo. This guy Miles is just sick af and they gave him power. RIP Susanna
He was nervous. Rookie on the job....still in his FTO phase. It's 2 yrs later....and I gotta say, I'm surprised he didn't remember what NCIC stands for. ALL cops should know that.
@Marsha_ Yes, and he couldn’t remember the name of his field training officer. He was brand new; you’d think everything would have made an impression on him.
Former officer Miles Bryant murdered Susana, not this cop. Miles kidnapped Susana and murdered her! If you google Miles Bryant who murdered her, you can read many articles about her death.
Young rookie cop and already involved in probably the biggest case of his career, first time testifying in court, knowing there’s tv cameras pointed at him for a national audience, you’d be nervous too…
An adult who doesn't know it's bad manners in gen but esp in any professional situation duh ... more importantly it looks mindless & is a huge distraction in court. I've had to ask wits to get rid of the gum b4 they testify. Lets hope after he watches this he doesn't repeat it or his CO catches it.
As a former smoker, my bet is that is Nicorete gum. You chew a few times, then “park” the gum between your cheek and your gum. I’ve used it on 8-10 hour flights in the past. At this point in his testimony I do not see a lot of active, noticeable gum chewing. When you are addicted to nicotine, a depressant, and entering a stressful situation, it is just helpful to keep yourself less stressed.
She had to be petrified if she wasn’t already dead by the time they got out there. Realizing she probably should’ve listened to mom & not be out roaming the streets at 10:00pm
Good thing he wasn’t even a real cop to be able to do that because I know he would have snatched his gun right up. Why did he leave it out there to begin with? This guy is an absolute psychopath and budding serial killer.
WOW....I HAVE CHILLS...THE POWER OF NATURE...THE POWER OF GOD...LEADING A MAN IN THE WOODS THAT PROBABLY NO ONE ELSE WILL EVER GO IN AND GIVING HER FAMILY CLOSURE...I DON'T BELIEVE IN RELIGION BUT IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD YOU'RE A FOOL...WOW WOW WOW...
Happy Birthday Mathew Gilbert! Just so happens, as i watch this video, it actually is June 10th as you told the police officers was your birthday, while you were showing them where the human remains that you found in the woods, were. 🎉 At the same time, my condolences to those who loved Susana, God rest her soul❤
So those cops were despatched because someone had found human remains. They know if they are human remains they have to tape off the area to protect it, yet neither of them though ahead to take the tape with them when they left their cars. Absolutely unbelievable.
@@wmgirl041668 Haha haha, well you must be American & i will show you how dumb you are. When there is a suspected crimescene or a scene that needs to be preserved its taped off. Now i hope you at least know that. So now we know you do know that, the next bit is, the cops receive a call saying human remains have been found in the woods off the beaten track. So they know if it is human remains the area has to be taped off, i hope you reralise that. So now last but not least any one with any foresight would know to take the tape with you or you will have to go back to get it. My god you m oron it doesnt take an Einstein to figure that out.
This officer is a idiot. He should know better , you don't chew gum or have anything in your mouth while talking to someone or in this case being in court.
I'm shocked that their personal information like phone numbers aren't edited out of the videos. I'm curious how many nuts have called Matthew Gilbert. Poor guy did what any decent man would do and he's probably being harassed by Internet psychos.
This police officers body language was very nonchalant, considering he was testifying in a murder trial. Smiling, slouching back on the chair, etc. Show some respect. You are not at the cinema. He seems very immature.
People react all different ways. Do you not remember Jon benet Ramsey's brothers interview a few years ago? He was smiling the whole time. People said that it's just his nerves. It looked bad though
Glock19 Gen5 in 9mm Luger. It’s the district attorney who jacked it up and the officer probably didn’t know any better to correct him… much like I’m correcting you…
I was thinking the same thing. If he had to be graded on the information he should have learned in class he would get an F . He didn’t know what NCI stood for& i believe it’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC)🤦🏽♀️
Yes note taking would have been better than saying I can’t remember. I am 70 and I wouldn’t have done this I would have written it down so I didn’t look like a dummy on the stand especially a serious case like this one
He was still in the training phase with an FTO... THE FTO Should have been training him onthese things..especially in this situation...yet alottttt to take in yourself
So he's trying to say..tha person that stole his gun..left it covered up at the crime 🤔 scene????..I only watched the body cam footage of him reporting it stolen and some of the ex girlfriend's testimony....so far I'm thinking as he was leaving the crime scene he dropped it unbeknownst to him ..this iz wild...
I'm so glad all the commenters are so well versed on how to testify and behave at a crime scene. I had no idea there were so many arm chair detectives and professional witnesses.
In baltimore police eat slim Jim’s they buy from businesses involved in a crime when they should be investigating said crime and drive through the scene then realize they have ridden over bullet casings… so that is fantastic investigating 🤦♀️
I did not like his vibe regarding this case… his whole compassion was NONE WHATSOEVER even when his body camera footage started he was talking crap about the guys car who reported the body… like his mind wasn’t even in the right place going on scene.. WHY WOULD U START TALKING CRAP ABOUT SOMEONES CAR WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO INVESTIGATE TO SEE IF THERE ARE HUMAN REMAINS?! I don’t understand how some people get to be cops… completely unacceptable behavior again no compassion whatsoever for the victim or her family!
Because it’s a coping mechanism in first responders who deal with stressful situations all the time. Only ppl with similar jobs understand. It’s hard when you are fighting back tears and sorrow while working then going home and crying while seeing flashbacks. Guess now you know I used to be an officer.
I absolutely agree. His behaviour in court was so disrespectful, too. I'm shocked the judge let him away with it. To think that people like him are in such powerful positions, it's crazy.
@@regina7795well, if you can't handle stressful situations, then maybe you shouldn't become a police officer. That was very inappropriate and unprofessional. Police officers are required to remain stoic and professional at all times, no matter what the situation is.
Georgia must hire Bubba and all his cousins to be cops. Training is probably in someone's backyard. These guys are unprofessional and inappropriate. This guy on the stand seems high with his smirking and gum chewing. What a jerk. Probably couldn't hold a job anywhere else. By the way, learn military time and how to convert it. How embarrassing.
The people that live in this world is scary. I have a 5 year old son who loves speaking/talking to anyone. I had to explain to him you can't do that to anyone. My son loves police officers. I have something new to talk to him about. People protect your children because nobody else will.
Stranger Danger. Roll playing is REALLY important!!! Make it a game, but he needs to be shown how scary it can be! It's how we taught my three Nieces before they went into school.
yes... you can't trust anyone these days. but I'm sure it's always been like that. it's important that we teach our children that you can't even trust family members. it's a sad reality... but true
The defense 'presents their defense' once the prosecution rest. The burden of proof is on the prosecutors, so they mostly take up more time, but the defense will have an opportunity to present their case, when the prosecution rest. Probably next week.
@@karenrhodes9973 I feel like it can feel like a lot of pressure. If you’re true and for the law and a “good person” I’d feel the pressure of wanting to say all the facts of what I could remember to get the right perp and for them to pay for their crimes. Especially if you’re a newbie.. but idk.. this is not my profession nor have I ever had to testify in court.. lmao
There is no way he carried Susana that far.He had her in his car or rented a car to move her body.More than likely it was dark and he realized he lost his gun and was panicking looking for it and could not find it so took the chance of leaving it there and reporting it stolen.I'm sure the grieving family were not happy with the attitude of the cop giving evidence, unless he is nervous and just smiles cos that is a tick he has.
Why do courts allow people to eat when in the witness box? This is so rude and disrespectful and this police officer should know better. Judge Judy does not allow this in her court room why do these judges in a criminal court. UGH!
OK, I’m trying to give this officer the benefit of the doubt but I give up he’s coming acrossg as cavalier. If not cocky. He doesn’t know his supervisors name he doesn’t remember the maker model number of the car . He doesn’t know who relieved him. He doesn’t know what type of gun was found. He has to go back the following day for the gun. I mean it’s just absurd doesn’t know what the next county over is. He’s chomping on gum and he’s smiling as if it’s Christmas morning. What the heck. Dumber than dumb they could they could claim it’s a mistrial just because of the stupidity of this officer how embarrassing for that police force. Who in God’s name hired him. was there a psych eval done on this person Was there an apptitude test done before he was hired. I think it’s highly unlikely that another officer would forget who called it in and not know the initials of who was responding to him regarding the firearm. He’s clearly not qualified. I think it’s very scary that this person is in that position.
I watch crime shows as a past time. The handling of the crime scene by this officer was a little sloppy, IMO. The man who reported it shouldn't have been allowed to walk into it at all, and he did that a couple of times. He should have been cautioned before approaching it, that he should be careful not to encroach it, but to just point and let the officers advance. I was once on a hurricane cleanup, and in the distance, I spotted what I thought was a human skull on the ground where the river had breached. We found the cleanup guide and they got close enough to verify it wasn't a plastic model, then called police...all without tramping around the area.
Chewing gum on the stand? Professionalism is at an all time low. It’s also vey irresponsible for the cameras to knowingly have the wrong time! This is why killers are comfortable hiding behind the badge.
All the stars had to be aligned for a random guy wandering around in the woods off the beaten path to stumble across Susana's remains. I'm sure the murderer thought he'd found the perfect spot where she'd never be found! If it wasn't for bad luck the murderer would have no luck at all, he guaranteed his own capture at every turn! ( shout-out to the gun that sealed the deal)
So this explains why he left his gun. She had to have walked there; he didn't drive or carry her. He used a gun to make her walk. He also had a flashlight on his weapon (he told the cop on body cam when reports his gun missing). So... If he used his weapon as a flashlight, then turned it off (to kill or sex assault, or whatever) he lost the gun when he turned the light off.
He could just be taking a walk, poor Guy he already had a lot going on, I myself when I have a lot going on I tend to go for hikes and go for walks by myself at the park or at near by trails bc it distracts me, I don’t drink or smoke or kill people to get over my problems I like to take the natural and healthy and relaxing way and take walks and journal and just take time by myself and nature it’s nothing bad or to be suspicious about if people just listen and just pay attention about details and know about sympathy for others as well.
That poor man that found the body has death surrounding him. At the time his mom and dad are both sick and his father in law had just been buried when he discovered the body of the young lady. That's so much to deal with but so glad someone found her and helped get justice for her.
Probably he likes having longer hair, but doesn't keep it too long for professional purposes. You've got nothing to worry about, he's not gonna ask you out anytime soon.
The crazy thing is myles Bryant probably SA that little girl too like he's a disgusting piece of crap I seen a video of this disgusting cop arresting another guy foe stalking the girl who had called the cops snd he was saying how wrong they were for doing that and how horrible it is and he understood how terrified the girl was that was being stalked was and she shouldn't have to feel that way ....and the entire time he was stalking women and had kidnapped and killed a 16 year old girl probably SA her as well also broke into the one girl's apartment it's just sickening dude seriously sickening
This whole case turns my stomach. If I was involved in any way, I would not be smiling regardless if it happened 2 years ago. It's so gruesome & unfortunate that they didn't take the proper action as soon as she went missing.
The perp more than likely knew of Susana bc he was the safety officer for the apartment that the victim would visit her friend at-but not a personal relationship
Why is he oddly smiling frequently so much, weird and awkwardly strange?! I am very disturbed by his insincere behavior and inability to be professional or serious!! He acts like this is an amusing incident or walk in the park!! His tone and laughing reactions are appalling, Grrrr...
Wow! What are the chances in all of that wooded area that he would happen upon her body? Ladies, this is what is meant by our guardian angels, they were guiding and leading this man directly to her!
I saw the Susana Morales case on The First 48 about a month or so ago so when I saw these videos on RU-vid I was like whoa, I've seen this story on tv. The authorities in this case did a great job of piecing everything together and finding the killer, Miles Bryant. So glad he's been found guilty so Susana's soul can be at peace.
I cant stop thinking of that poor girl, walking that distance with that predator probably behind her tormenting her😢. I hope he has nightmares every night.
From the moment this officer parked the vehicle with the driver side door opening into potentially incoming traffic and then after being excused from the witness stand , it is easy to tell , this guy is a clown .
The gun was lying on the ground for 7 months. I'm sure the sun wouldv'e evaporated any oils from people's fingers that may have been on the gun and the rain would've cleaned off the rest.
