I’m a retired cop. I would have checked the area, reassured her that everything was ok and cleared the call. There’s no reason to even go in the house. This tragedy was 100% avoidable. He belongs in prison for the rest of his life.
@markmcso7 You think this was the first time PD responded to her residence? Clearly she's an EDP and if they didn't find out what was bothering her, she would have continued calling.
@@p1315If she was an EDP then they should've called in for a mental health team which is protocol. They ordered this woman to turn off a pot of boiling water. I didn't know boiling water in your own home was illegal.
There should really be a national database tracking these officers. It's crazy that they can just get fired from one force and pick up and get hired at another in no time.
And it’s unbelievable there are political groups running around suing, because they say WM are being discriminated against in hiring! Starting with the Police Departments around the country that’s such a joke, because there’re so many in positions like this, that are terribly unqualified!
after floyde, no one wants to be a cop so police departments are forced to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill out their ranks. The more you defund the police the less qualified people you get the more incidents like this you will have.
He killed that poor woman. She seemed to be struggling mentally but there was absolutely no reason for that shooting at all. His whole mentality was to kill someone
The LEO's knew she had issues, a 10-96 usually refers to a situation involving a person with mental illness. In cases like this we often ask for a CIT request/ 10-60. It would have prevented a tragedy here.
"He killed that poor woman."←Criminals get killed all the time when they assault cops with weapons. What did you expect? For the cops to do nothing and let themlsves be harmed or killed by criminals? "She seemed to be struggling mentally but there was absolutely no reason for that shooting at all."←She assault them with a weapon. Cops are justified in shooting in self defense. I suspect you are mostly right. This is probably because most people in their right mind do not want to be police officers. So the departments probably get desperate and lower their standards to fill open positions. The officers might not necessarily be psychopaths, but they do seem to be trained to be warriors rather than peace keepers. Many of these individuals are former military, and their psychology is probably trained/brainwashed for conflict resolution by force. Former military probably need extra training to rewire their brain a bit to assess & handle situations a bit differently than in active war zone. They are probably trained to treat any incident to be a potential war zone. Even in a war zone, not every interaction has to resolved in a shootout.
The bar is low because of women power movements. They wanted more women to qualify and pass so they made the tests easier. So yea it allows crazy men to take advantage of the circumstances

A pot of boiling water (they asked her to handle) a room away is not a threat!!! This is straight up unacceptable murder and both police officers need to be charged and put in prison. This woman probably was delusional and hallucinating. She was asking for help. Instead of using his brains and referring her to psychiatrist, he went for the gun. What a stupid cop.
So much wrong here. First, she never said anything even remotely close to threatening him with boiling water. Second, even if she did, a taser would have changed her mind. Shooting her was beyond excessive force for that situation. Third, she yelled out she was sorry, backed away from the stove, and even squatted into a submissing posture. She was not a threat at that point and would likely have responded to deescalation commands. Third, the partner muzzled his back several times after the shots were fired.
