Yeah, my heart dropped when I saw that young officer zig right and away from cover. It is a small cancellation that one of their rounds would later kill the shooter, but at least their was that much justice in the situation.
Given the warning given of his erratic behavior and the fact he carried a handgun, why did the officers not conduct a high-risk stop (also called a felony stop) instead of walking up to the vehicle. I'm just as sad and heartbroken as anyone over the deaths of two officers as anyone, but speaking as a 21-year veteran, I'm shocked this occurred in 2023 after all the specialized training that's out there concerning circumstances like these. The agencies involved need to review their training, determine the lessons learned from this tragedy, and make sure that everyone learns from this.

The states are paid from our social security via title IV-D and they also keep the interest that they charge from arrears. And BTW everyone is automatically in arrears. Because due in full at the beginning of the month. If you "finance" it you're actually behind and they charge interest. But they get over 50 BILLION dollars per year from our social security to force fathers onto "child support."

I 100 percent can understand how this happened. I can't even work a job where I get a paycheck. I live in Indiana and they garnish 77% of my wages. I can't afford gas to go to, and from work, I can't afford food, I can't afford rent, I can't even afford a vehicle and insurance. The jails are disgusting and unsanitary and you go in there for owing child support, and they put you in a room with people charged with or convicted of murder and other violent offenses. If they think they're going to come with an arrest warrant or arrest me for contempt for child support, it'll be over my dead body before I go back to that county jail. Quit sending people in the dangerous situation just because they owe money. And then you won't be in this dangerous situation.

Before I read this, I was literally assessing what happened and why, and the conclusion I came to, is that people need to be more free! When the walls start caving people snap. And that snap would never happen, if authorities stop getting in everyone’s business. Not everything has to be a law. I’m fortunate to be in a good place. But I can sympathize with the man who snapped. Also feel dread for the family of the officers. It’s heartbreaking to see loss of life, it did NOT need to go there, if we as Americans were more free, the world would legitimately be a better place. We just need 3 simple umbrella laws to remain a functioning society. Don’t kill, don’t steal/fraud/scam and do not touch anyone who does not consent. The real crime here is the way our country treats fathers, anyone who has or knows someone who has dealt with child support cases knows that the man is automatically relegated to the status of criminals and treated as such for no reason other than that they are the biological male in the ending relationship. I have personally seen judges incarcerate a man to scare him into paying cause he was a week late man looses job as a result and has trouble getting new ones cause of legal problems then judge locks man up for up to a year then charged him again every time he missed paying while incarcerated, tell me how fair that is. Now considering the complete lack of fairness and justice these people get from your system why wouldn't they do the same, why cooperate when you know you're not going to be treated fairly as a human off gate!

Which is why, although I don't condone taking lives, I cannot feel any remorse or sadness toward the two police officers (even though they were just taking orders: a lot of atrocities have been committed at the hands of men "just following orders"). Knew 2 guys who were well off until divorce. One had to work as security guard, and the other as a soda vendor. Both seem miserable, rightfully so. Years ago I read a story about a wealthy business man whom lost almost everything after divorce. He ended up shooting the judge, which was insane!

States like oregon won't allow it. They declared imprisonment over debt unconstitutional. Should be nationwide. And you shouldn't lose you gun rights over non payment.
You know it's bad when the system is continually corrupt and engaging in criminal activity but they expect everybody else to be law-abiding. Debtors prisons were outlawed in this country over 200 years ago but are corrupt bureaucracy continue to lock us up for debts.
He had a warrant for his arrest. That's why he was pulled over. He got that warrant not for being unable to make payments, but because he chose to ignore court orders to appear before a judge. I know this because I have been in that situation. The court will NOT put you in jail if you can't pay. You'll have to do some kind of community service and they will absolutely accommodate your job schedule. You don't go to jail if you're broke. You got to jail when you say you are above the law.

Yes it was his responsibility to pay child support or it could of been worked out between them two without a judge. Lives were lost because of some selfish individuals. What this guy went through is something many separations are a bi product of. Knowing that everything you helped build with your partner that you said you would be with for the rest of your life is now abandon you and taking a vital resource to you, leaves you a broken man. Uhm Im pretty sure his mental health was also mentioned and he had a warrant out for his arrest. Mental instability and weapons on someone who is about to lose their freedom is absolutely a reason to be cautious. Anyone with a weapon that is about to be arrested should be handled with care in a job where even the unarmed fight back. There are tons of videos where police aren't "extra" cautious with when they find out there are weapons in the vehicle/on someone, but when the point is to arrest someone, that is a concern. Its not some big deal, its common sense precaution. The officer didn't have his weapon out at first and the female officer just asked for assistance in case worst case scenario happened, she wasn't alone. And THIS is exactly why they do that.

What stands out here is this man was known to be extremely dangerous. When a young inexperienced officer asks for backup, she is sent another young inexperienced officer to back her up. Why? Why with a suspect who is known to be extremely dangerous, was only one officer sent to back her up. Last month there was a fender bender two blocks from my home and within 5 minutes there were 4 police cars on scene.
I mean they also did a poor job following their own high risk stop protocol. And well experience has little to nothing to do (as 90% of the officers will never get to use it since most of the stops are low to no risk), they should have never passed the training, the second guy kinda started following the protcol, but then he dropped it, went out of cover and stood in the open while firing and walking backwards, then he died, instead he should have stood behind the crusier and shot the dude from there, or when he left cover first he had clear shots, he should have taken them, instead he went out of cover and fired while walking backwards, why? i have no idea, maybe fear, clouded judgement? who knows, but his protocol dictates that he should have never left cover, he had a way better chance to survive from there.
