Boeing 737 cockpit view video of our landing in Lanzarote runway21
Lanzarote is one of the places where the wind is 99% from the same direction: northwest to northeast. On this rare occasion, RWY 21 was in use due to southerly winds. As we come over the island, we have to avoid some vulcanos in the approach path. Thats why there is no ILS procedure for this runway, Only a VOR approach with a 2degree offset. To make things worse, the VNAV profile leaves us too low to the ground, so we have to fly this approach in V/S. Minimums for this approach are at 2100ft, well above all terrain. At 3NM from the runway, we passed the last vulcano and we can position the aircraft for landing!
