A flight simulation of Sriwijaya Flight 182 (SJ182) which crashed 4 minutes after take off from Jakarta, Indonesia. The aircraft was a 26 year old Boeing 737-500 registered as PK-CLC. With the black boxes now located, the investigation will hopefully determine why this plane crashed into the Java Sea, tragically killing all 62 people onboard. RIP.
Please note that information in the video may not be 100% accurate as investigations are still ongoing. As news of the flight comes in, I might make an updated video with more accuracy. Simulated with Lockheed Martin's Prepar3d v5.1.

As more data and news has come through, this 'simulation' is seeming increasingly inaccurate. Please keep that in mind when watching the video. Also, my condolences to the victims of this tragedy.

An aircraft is most at risk from a maintenance issue just before and just after a maintenance check. If a check is required but not completed, fatigue can set it and cause structural damage. If a check has been completed but done incorrectly, that can be catastrophic. An example of this is BA5390. As long as maintenance checks are completed and done correctly, there shouldn’t be any maintenance issues.

I was watching the flight radar 24 flight. At first it seemed normal, but then the plane rapidly lost altitude and i thought, that it was jusg malfunctioning. (I was kinda tired) then it disappeared from the radar and i thought to myself (Hmm that's odd) Well.... The news came and i was shocked. I had witnessed a crash on FlightRadar24 somehow. Mid price airliner, with a very good safety record. I actually flew with Sriwijaya airline couple of times in the past and its comfortable. I dont know why the plane got crash. But for a steep dive with very high speed there must be a catastrophic event occurred in that plane. Remainder that flew as PASSENGER not a pilot. Hope to prevent misunderstanding

Looks like it was hit by rotor, a certain wind condition. The 737 is susceptible to stalling because of its un- commandment rudder full deflection. It is yaw inefficient because is it relatively short wing base.

You forgot something, I saw the data from the app, FlightRadar24...At first, there is a speed which is decrease to 119knots if you read it carefully and then maybe it could lead to a stall first then the plane will come into a steep dive.
@bhojjadamotabanda
@bhojjadamotabanda 3 года назад
The speed on flightradar24 is groundspeed, not airspeed. So sometimes it can be misleading especially at steep angles as the horizontal movement of the plane can be much less. The blackbox data will provide a more accurate picture.
@TheFlightShow
@TheFlightShow 3 года назад
Yeah that’s what I thought too when I saw the graph. FR24 isn’t very clear whether it’s ground speed or air speed, but if the aircraft was in a sharp descent, the ground speed would be reduced, even if the airspeed was increasing.
@rationalway8070
@rationalway8070 3 года назад
@@TheFlightShow but stall is quite unlikely. If the plane had climbed in very high angle and its airspeed is 284 knots, the attitude would have sharply increased. However, acc. to the data the climb was not sharp. If you check previous flights of sj182 you see that the data was very similar to previous ones until the plane started to go left.

@TheFlightShow
@TheFlightShow 3 года назад
Well the chances of them crashing are so low that they’re actually incredibly safe and you would have a much higher chance of being in a car crash
@miguelsalami
@miguelsalami 3 года назад
@@TheFlightShow You would also have a much higher chance of living after a crash in a newer vehicle. But what about a car 26 years old will it's airbag still deploy? Maybe. How many take offs & landings would a plane have endured in 26 years? How do you repair stress cracks in a fuselage? Then there's the thousands of electrical wires that corrode with age. Why do you think the standard age of retirement for these planes is 13 years besides maintenance costs of replacing parts?
@TheFlightShow
@TheFlightShow 3 года назад
As long as regular maintenance is carried out correctly, flying a 26 year old plane is perfectly fine. If the cause of this crash was in any way related to a fault in the aircraft, then it would almost certainly be caused by poor maintenance
@miguelsalami
@miguelsalami 3 года назад
@@TheFlightShow That's like saying if you keep your oil changed & do routine maintenance on a car that it will always be safe to drive. I beg to disagree if that was the case Airlines could fly these planes forever. Not the case you obviously don't have a clue how these aircraft are built & constructed.
@TheFlightShow
@TheFlightShow 3 года назад
You just said that if your car is in perfect condition, then you’ll never crash. This is obviously not true because other things can cause a car crash. Same thing with a plane crash. As long as proper maintenance was carried out, the plane shouldn’t crash because of any mechanical issues. It could of course still crash because of other issues such as pilot error.

I recreated this in a simulator where i said this plane was too fast its un normal for a plane to climb 11,000 feet in 4 minutes Also everybody died accordingly My hypothesis was the plane climbed at a rate of 12 degrees (Which is un normal and seems correct for 11,000 feet in 4 minutes) And then lost power and stalled at 11,000 feet per minute and on impact boom an explosion happened which is from the impact on the engine when it crashed Hope this helped investigator if they found my comment (Probably not) And gained speed as well i suspected i said something is wrong here if theres a storm i said there has to be and i said visibility at 2,000 feet would be terrible the plane could climb at 2,000 feet in a minute then they try to pull up but its too steep when they try to stop the stall by pushing the nose down they crash straight into the ocean tearing the plane in the middle of the crisis visibility was lost so they push the nose down to retrieve the stall and boom 11,000 feet per minute they died sadly

First of all, I never claimed for this video to be 100% accurate. I almost exclusively used FlightRadar24 data to attempt to ‘simulate’ it. Also, this video was not made with any disrespect or distaste. Some other ‘simulations’ of this crash include inappropriate music and inappropriate sound effects like screaming or explosions. As far as I’m aware, this is perfectly legal. I’m uploading essentially an edited screen recording from my PC flight simulator onto RU-vid and making it very clear in the description that it isn’t 100% accurate and certainly not any sort of official simulation. Very odd there was no response or declaration from any of those on flight deck. If they were too incapacitated to react then the OBC (on-board computer) should trigger some response but this was an aging equipment not having such advanced features. I even wonder whether more modern airliners have such safety features . But unless we all place lives first we will remain at the mercy of airplane designers and their bottom line. For now let us hope the FDR & CVR will reveal something about this tragedy - another one too many in this high tech era we live in.
