it's not that the engines are soo big that they had to flatten them on the bottom, no. The reason is that the 737 is sooo low that they had to flatten them on the bottom. The Plattform is just too old for those bigger newer engines...
The 737 in general seems very nimble for its size. It also certainly helps that demo planes aren't laden with a bunch of fuel, passengers, and cargo! As for the approach, it looked like a pretty standard circling to land maneuver from the traffic pattern. Not too uncommon a maneuver in the regional airlines when the weather's good and you're flying into a field with no tower. But certainly not something you'll see any of the 737 operators do (or at least very rarely, such as if terrain at a given airport leaves you no choice). Their SOP's are normally to be on a stabilized, straight-in, 3 degree glide path miles away from the field. Super conservative. So while the maneuver itself isn't especially extraordinary, and the 737 is more than capable of it, the fact that it's never actually done outside demonstrations makes it very exciting to see!
I build those thrust reversers everyday! 737 MAX, we are still making 737 NG parts but MAX is picking up in production. I may have even helped make one for this plane!
This pilot made his approach like a boss! He didn't even line up with the runway while the plane was still several miles away and made some breathtaking maneuvers just above it instead. Nailed it!
Been on a 737 doing this type of landing. Departed dfw for Colorado, 350 miles out from dfw someone had a heart attack and the pilot decided to go back to dfe even though the closest major airport was in Oklahoma given we were over there. The whole way back he was flying the aircraft at its limits, the entire fuselage was shaking the whole way, especially on descent and landing stage. That landing was something else man, he got down and stopped soooo quick. Once the person was off the aircraft everyone clapped for the pilot. But to this day I don't know why in such an emergency he elected to return all the way back to dfw instead of Oklahoma
it is good you are well informed thank you for sharing this information,i wish you very good experiences in the world of aviation :-) if you are interested you can watch my video. ""KLM-737-800(de sperwer 1-10-2016)landing" .
RFSA180 so did with the DC-10. So did some a320’s and some A330’s. Everything gets fixed. You just don’t leave things in the past do you? We learn from mistakes and take better steps to prevent them and improve. So shut up.
I m very very Disappointed with B737 Max due to 2 Crash within 6 months. Lion Air & Ethiopian it was a fatal crash, all died no one survive. May all R.I.P.
Fun to watch, misery to ride in. I read in Bloomberg that Boeing pitches to airlines that they can adjust the seat pitch to 28 inches and cram more sardines into each cramped, stressed out flight.
+TopFelya he flies that bog plane like it was a small chesna ... normal approach is a long lined up flight path and must be stable at an altitude of at least 500 feet, most airlines request 1000 feet, for safety. here the pilot just came from the side and is stable at maybe 50-100 feet directly from approach to landing. normal airline pilots would have been suspend after that, but of course that's different here.
During my studies, long ago, the professors told us that the problem was to make a powerful and lightweight aircraft engine .... Methinks , today we have problems with electronics, auto-pilots, etc, because people are not running with these things and they do not understand flying (exceptions are confirmed the rule ...Like this one. A challenging statement by me , but true . Thanks TF.
Terrific. Just another narrow body 6 abreast sardine can that will be cramming in passengers. Most people today are too young to remember when jumbo jets like the 747, DC-10, MD-11 and the L-1011 were used to fly on domestic routes. They were big, comfortable planes that didn't make you feel claustrophobic.
+TopFelya I should become a bus driver! Like SpeedbirdHD. He works on the lawns around the runways but just films mainly! :) Great video and an impressive aircraft.
Good lord! Can you imagine landing like that as a passenger? I don't think I'd fear flying if I knew all pilots could do that! Pretty sure he could stick that on mount Chiliad!
impressive landing, not something you'd do with passengers on board, lol I wouldn't call it a combat landing. Watch a C-130 or a C-17 sometime. They basically dive at the runway on the approach. Nice though, thanks for the content.
Moleza,até eu fazia, mas com um maquete com controle remoto kkkkkkk.O Piloto é muito habilidoso e competente, muito legal mesmo ver essas aeronaves pousando👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
