@@davidhamilton1446 Depends on what you're mounting it on and what the mission is. Aim-9x works a hell of a lot better for anti-cruise missile duty, the direct energy weapon installations (either laser or microwave) allow it to operate not just against small drones but against swarms of drones. Any of those options help with the basic SHORAD mission, and heavier missiles like hellfire give a ground vehicle punch against heavy armor (while still being able to be used against helicopters) or could give a patrol boat some punch against smaller warships or enemy patrol boats.
Why do they leave the missiles exposed to the elements? Sure, that's how they are when they're on aircraft but I'd think they'd be able to get more life out of them if they were containerized in ground applications where weight is less of an issue.
Can you reconfigure these advanced avenger systems on the Mark VI patrol boats? The U.S. Navy got a lot of issues to sort out including our aging destroyer fleet, fewer accessible ports, and not to mention getting crowded with commercial ships in port cities.
we need to update or upgrade our anti-air weapon. Our anti-air is too weak, too old and is not protecting our troop on the ground. We have been lucky so far, not in the future.
the us maintains some pretty good sea based sams, arguably the best, and some of the most effectiver ABM systems in regards to theatre land defence they have the patriot, and the stinger. thats it, keep in ind MEADS is in development to replace the patriot
Billions of Dollars have been spending in weapon market and industry , while there millions of people are looking for better education , heath services or even clean water
Muaathe Aziz Well, as the old saying from the International MMM Association goes: "There's no business like war". BTW - MMM stands for Mercenaries, Manufactures, and Morticians.
It's called the Military Industrial Complex. I'm all for a strong military, but I do agree with you, It is time our Country starts shifting priorities back home. But hey, who are we? Nobody, yes, that is right, nobody. Average citizens can't do anything about it.
US spends 2% of its GDP on military. less than Russia in terms of GDP. The US has lots of money for its military cause its the largest economy on the planet.
Mr. 360 I did not mention the US or Russia all what have declared that we have an obsession of virtual enemies but we have one called greed. As this obsession became larger a part of our humanity will fade ... REGARDS
