Lets be honest here, the cabins will never look like that! As soon as the airlines get hold of them they're gonna cram as much seats in there as possible so they can make as much money as possible.

patrick Rose Well, the A380 is a very good aircraft for capacity. Emirates sole reliance on the 777 and the A380 is the perfect strategy. I think the A380 is under-used actually, all European airlines are neglecting it, Emirates has seemed to recognise it's importance, especially for BA, with its limited slots the A380 would be perfect for it

@turbo_s

But enough to make a comfortable 10 abreast configuration. 18 inches is good and should be the standard. Oh and if we're going to talk about narrow seats in a sardine can plane, let's talk about Air Transat with their 9 abreast A330s at an atrocious 16.4 inches per seat.

I am a student at snow isle tech and got a behind-the-scenes tour of the 777 wing construction area today. One of the things we got to see was a 2/3 scale prototype aft wing spar for the composite 777x wings. I have to say that it was very impressive in the way it was engineered. For example, the composite wing isn't compatible with regular rivets, so they use a special fastener which cost 40 u.s. dollars per fastener. Boeing is currently constructing a new area of the building just for the production of these wings. In this area, two giant ovens are being constructed in order to cure the composite wings on the Everett site.

If Boeing can do this than eventually they will have the available time to build the first commercial aircraft to withstand an air-to-ground impact/accident situation. Two layers of carbon-fiber exoskeletons that absorbs impact before it reaches the main body and on the nose and under the aircraft, buoys that deploy like airbags by a main switch located in the cockpit or flight attendants' stationary areas. Hey, it may sound like it's a lot but anything is possible in the words of Boeing.

WHY AREN'T THEY FUNDING THIS
@toukoaozaki
@toukoaozaki 10 лет назад
Once you compute momentum on typical nose-diving out-of-control aircraft, you would find it pretty obvious that it's nearly impossible to bring down the vertical acceleration on impact to the safe levels. It might make more sense to deploy parachutes...
@MJofLakelandX

as a child during WW II, I was totally captivated by all the interesting new things being developed for the war effort. My greatest interest was the planes. My Dad was simpothetic and we went to the Greensboro Highpoint Airport in G boro N.C. often. Gas rationing was a problem. I will never forget the first Navy plane I saw. My Dad said it was a U S Navy SBD. I couldn't see how it could fly. The wings weren't where they were supposed to be. The pilot soon came out of the weather station, got in the plane, and with the ground crew, with APU and fire extinguisher, the pilot started the engine and UNFOLDED the wings. WOW. I was hooked. I decided , I decided I had to ge me one of these. Nine years later, 16 years old, I had my Private license and was flying ferry work for Mary Tracy Gaffney who ran the flight school where I had taken my flight lessons, there in Miami. U.S.A.F during Vietnam, Martin Marietta Corp until the Department of Defense started pulling contracts . I moved over to College administration and am currently still involved in Education. It's been pure pleasure and one heck of a ride. Wouldn't change a thing.

That´s obvious. Airlines decides how they pack their passengers, and these decide if the accept their cabins or not. My question is: what´s the the level of tolerance of the passengers in travelling conditions which deteriorate year after year?. Is there a limit?.

They shld make a 777-10x, which has the capacity of the 9x and the range of the 8x. They should also make a freighter or combi version to replace the 777f
@algorithm1193
@algorithm1193 9 лет назад
No, the 8x has more greater range because less mass= less weight which means less fuel consumption. So a 10x like that needs to be proportional to the 8x. But larger. That means bigger engines, bigger wings, bigger body. Just get the specs and do the math.

There is a problem.. the 777X is allready 76m long... 1m longer than the A340-600 4 more than the A380 and same as the 747-8 .. the reason why all this planes keep it less than 80m is because the "jumbo box" .. when the 747 came new in the 80s it was the biggest airliner ever by far..and airports arround the world had to be redesigned .. to do that they used a square box of 80X80m where a 747 would fit nicelly (71m) .. so all airports arround the world right now are designed to handle planes that fit in a 80X80m box.. and manufacuters are working with that limit or no company will buy them on the financial risk of forcing airports making a new major re-build.. We are now at 76m .. barelly not much room to go. So there is two options.. Tear down all major airports and design them again with a new larger box in mind.. or making planes as big as possible within the limit. Thats Airbus aproach with the A380 (full doble decker) and Boeing with the 747-8. The problem for the 747-8 is that it still maxes arround 550-600pax max (500-550 in 2/3 class setup) where the A380 can seat 100-150 more in same configs and the 777X 100-50 less being more efficient.. quite a lot of strategy here

@gangster3591 11 лет назад
"going to be some serious competition between the 777X and the A350-XWB" Hardly. In the lucrative twin-engine widebody market, Boeing now offers 3 variants of the 787 (-8, -9, -10) and two variants of the 777X (-8, -9). Airbus cannot seriously compete with Boeing's widebody lineup. Any reputable aviation analyst will tell you that
@DavidSnul

gangster3591 Personnaly, I´m an Airbus fan, but current competition is very intense and it will probably remain so, both manufacters are absoloutly amazing and absoloutly revolucionary, both are flagships, both are innovative and both produce amazing aircrafts, but i must agree, Airbus should come up with a new airplane.

Can't wait to fly these once I get my license (maybe 10 years from now)! The only thing I don't like is the cockpit colour, I prefer the Boeing Brown cockpit that is present in the current 777 family :(

I'm certainly no Boeing fanboy, but I do really love the direction Boeing is going with their wing designs, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the 777X in Lufthansa colours!

Will any of the US airlines become customers, I mean seriously, if Pan Am was still aorund, they would totally jump on all these new american aircraft. Yes the 787 has been purchased by United and i believe, American, but all the Airlines her in the US have stopped taking pride in their countries new aircraft, look at the 747-8. How is it gonna be remembered, by never having a single US customer to fly it in its colors. THe last of the 747 family. At once everyone had one, and now nobody even wants one. A pity. I wish Pan Am still around, there livery would look good on this aircraft.

The Boeing 777X can be definitively the greatest aircraft of the next generation of airplanes. Making the 777X more passenger friendly, more efficient and giving more rentability to the airlines which are going to use the 777X.

What about the 757 and 767? Are they just left to rot, or are they going to be "modernized" as well?
@sundarchip
@sundarchip 9 лет назад
FlightSimMaster108 The 757 has been discontinued. The 787 is meant to replace the 767 but as far as I know, 767's are still being produced.
@mikaelcan441

FlightSimMaster108 I know Icelandair is kinda waiting for a 757 replacement, but it seems like that's not going to come soon.

I read in a paper a month ago that Boeing is looking into introducing an all-new aircraft in 2018-19 for the 757 replacement.
@mikaelcan441
@mikaelcan441 9 лет назад
+AmericaWest90 Airbus already launched a product that is supposed to replace the 757 (being the a321LR). Who knows whether Boeing will launch a competing aircraft
@mikaelcan441
@mikaelcan441 9 лет назад
+Sundar Subramaniam Even though 767s are still being produced, almost all if not all are freighters. The 787 was designed to replace the 767, but there is no 787 freighter. So, FedEx, UPS, and other airlines are still getting the 767F, but no passenger version is really being produced. So, the 767 is basically left to rot as its future is with the 787.

Nice work, Boeing! My impression is that Boeing engineers regularly use Matlab. My personal favorite computational linear algebra software package. Boeing + Matlab = Awesome.
