Boeing Starliner Keeps STRANDING on ISS! NASA to give up…
The Boeing Starliner was initially heralded as a beacon of innovation in space travel, promising to revolutionize NASA’s commercial crew program. However, the program quickly encountered significant obstacles that undermined its ambitious goals. Technical setbacks plagued the development and operational phases, resulting in numerous delays and increased costs. Safety concerns also emerged, with critical issues that compromised the spacecraft’s reliability.
Ultimately, these challenges have eroded confidence in Boeing's ability to deliver a safe and reliable spacecraft.
Boeing Starliner Keeps STRANDING on ISS! NASA to give up…
Continuing the series of delays for the Starliner, NASA, and Boeing managers have once again decided to extend the Starliner crew's stay at the International Space Station, bypassing the re-entry date of June 26. Previously, the Starliner had other delays on the 18th and even on the 22nd.
This latest delay marks an indefinite postponement of Boeing Starliner's return to Earth, marking another major setback in the troubled test flight aimed at competing with SpaceX's Dragon crew.
Boeing Starliner Keeps STRANDING on ISS! NASA to give up…
Now, NASA and Boeing's engineering team will need more time. Sources indicate that NASA considers June 30 as a possible return date, but the agency also wants to conduct a few spacewalks outside the station. These spacewalks, currently planned for June 24 and July 2, will now continue. The Starliner will return to Earth afterward, possibly no earlier than the July 4 holiday.

Hi, to paraphrase Elon when he talks about making humanity multi-planetary. Having all your eggs in one basket is a failure point. Having multiple options is good, is there another viable option to replace starliner as an alternative to Dragon? I’m not in any way advocating for Starliner but if SpaceX ends up as a sole viable option for commercial space flight operations this will not be optimal. I’m also thinking past Elon, unless he develops a huge increase in lifespan, will SpaceX be as innovative and productive. Having options and competition is better in my opinion.

NASA failed this mission by not making Boeing to initiate several supply missions to the ISS in order to iron out bugs instead of allowing a live crew to be stranded in space. This would establish a reliability factor to the overall performance. I believe Space-X had done similar supply missions before allowing a live crew onboard.

5:00 the contingency plan involving SpaceX's Crew Dragon to rescue the astronauts aboard the ISS following the Soyuz MS-22 coolant leak was discussed but never actually implemented. NASA and Roscosmos explored the possibility of using the Crew Dragon as an emergency lifeboat, but the primary focus remained on assessing and managing the situation with the Soyuz spacecraft. Ultimately, Roscosmos decided to send a replacement Soyuz spacecraft to the ISS, which was scheduled for launch in early 2023, to safely bring back the affected crew members. The situation was handled without needing to use SpaceX's Crew Dragon for the rescue mission

Having worked inspection for a number of years, there was likely management pressures to "just ship it." The inspectors either didn't have much time with inspection, found something but was waivered off by management to fly, or corrupted and just rubberstamped everything. They weren't going to redesign a flawed thruster design after losing over $1.5 Billion (US). The thruster design was 50/50 and with redundances it can still complete its mission. Boeing was doing just the minimum to fill the contract before discontinuing Starliner. It's why Boeing has so many whistleblowers exposing the issues and some coming to unfortuate end. in hindsight, nasa commerical space program was an excellent idea only because it allowed a company like Space-X to excel in both innovation and reliability despite nasa's dogged insistence that boeing be the company that succeeded. the decision to launch starliner bordered on criminal safety negligence, (and should be investigated publicly to discover why such a completely unfounded and inexplicable loyalty to boeing exists)...
