for more “sqeakcore” check out kaonashi. “you’ll understand when you’re older” is a great example and they’re super wholesome dudes on top of making some of the most chaotic music out.
They are so different from anybody else atm. I'm still having a bit of troble to get behind Bryan's voice. I'm slowly getting there. This slaps hard tho :D
You mention about Knocked Loose being palatable but.... well I dunno if palatable is the right word. There's lots of aggressive, angry music that doesn't really make sense to me. It doesn't resonate or bring out any feelings. It's just a guy shouting with aggressive music in the background. If you're going to write a angry music that is the musical equivalent of someone punching you repeatedly in the mouth, go all in and do it. Lots of people write beautiful, atmospheric songs but Sigur Ros said "OK, we'll do that but turn it up to 11" and it's awesome because of it. Knocked Loose did exactly the same thing but their goal was to be angry and again, it's fucking awesome. I guess it comes down to picking an emotion and then expressing that in musical form. If you half-ass it, it doesn't resonate with people but Knocked Loose haven't half-assed anything so anyone, regardless of musical taste, can listen to it and say "yeah... they nailed that."
