BOGGED ON THE HOLLAND TRACK - Hardest Track Yet!!!

By the way if you put a relay on the starter solenoid wire running a 20 amp plus feed from the main starter cable it will save you from having to crawl under and jump the starter solenoid.

Loved how the Kombi kept churning forward albeit with a winch. A lot of 4WD's would've been at least as bad off. You're right though. You've got to know when to stop and consider your position. Congratulations on the good news and well done on the track.

Thanks so much for showing so much of the 'real' Holland track experience. I was on my way to Coolgardie in Nov 22 and decided to take the 'scenic' route of the Holland Track. Unfortunately the week before they'd had quite a bit of rain in the region... after a lot of umming and aahhing, I decided that as I was solo, it was not worth the risk. Given the state of the track on your drive (after several months of very dry weather), your experience has highlighted that I made the correct decision. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures :)

A very nice video. I admire the patience of the little mouse, so cute and sweet. Laugh Karsten, you sometimes look like a monitor lizard. Really great how you steer the Bulli through the shit, respect. Such a nice Unimog, right machine and the right tires to it, you would have more space and really comes through the worst dirt through. The owner of a VW dealership i worked at used to call the combeis, Spits and farts and coughing. LOL

The Holland in a Combi? Hmmm, makes me wonder if we should try in with the Coaster? Maybe I'll re-think that by the time I have seen this whole episode :) Later: Yeah, I don't even think the Coaster would fit along some of those tracks. Interesting to see the track when it's dry. Everyone seems to drive it in the middle of winter.

Back in 1985 I was in Oz and had an early bay kombi which we drove up and down the east coast it eventually broke down in Makay in Queensland and we sold it to a dealer in the town no a massive loss as we only paid $350 for it. Sat here back in England I like to think it's the same one as it looked a little like yours. I've still got a Vanagon but that bay had some fantastic memories.

hahah i love your dynamic between you too when things get hectic, I've riden the HT on a dirtbike in the wet, was good. Interesting for you to say its harder than the Cape OTT because im heading over from perth this year to do the OTT and thought it would be much harder. The thing is though, the 2nd half of the track is way faster rand easier. Cheers.
