Gidday... we're Karstan and Max 👋🏻 an Aussie couple (now parents) who have been travelling together since 2008.
We live life differently to most - and now that we’ve got two young girls we are more determined than we have ever been to see and experience all that this world has to offer.
You’ll mostly find us heading off the beaten track, exploring remote places and pushing the limits.
We’ve travelled in Kombis since 2009, but recently decided to up the ante with an Australian built expedition truck! AN OKA. And the dream is to take it all over Australia and the world.
We’re big believers in putting ourselves out there and giving everything a go, cause why not?
With a positive ‘can do attitude’ approach to life, we’re always eager to do things that most could only dream about and hopefully inspire others to do the same.
We look forward to taking you on our adventures with us!!
The entire world is about to change guys, and for the better, FULL worldwide martial law is imminent. Everyone will be safe, unless you are deep state, you guys will have to travel Oz for a couple of years, then the planet will be totally safe, our 7 continents as well as the many hundreds of once hidden countries beyond the ice wall..... (think Admiral Byrd) The military will lead the way.... happy travels, remember, when it looks bad, dont panic as you will be safe.....
Loving the build guys. It all coming together. Some roof top tents and camper trailers have a bungee cord around the canvas so that it pulls the canvas in as it comes down.
You can get a thin innerspring mattress from BCF made to measure from a company in Melbourne, got one in the Iveco magic. Forget foam rubber from Clark’s rubber, you’ll never look back 😅
Your AC will shade your panels. If the panels are wired in series this could be a big problem. If in parallel, less of a problem but still not ideal. Check with the supplier/installer about your options to minimise losses from shading mate. Microinverters, separate parallel wiring, or maybe a way for the panels to lift up to the height of the AC?
I’ve watched many enjoyable videos of young couples go hard on new technology! Bigger and better doesn’t bring bigger and better memories one day you will long for the old old days!
Just awsome guys, after a hard days work for me, you guys just made my day? Different mind set and …. I’m am so excited? For what’s coming? Sending my loves❤
Looking good! A tip for closing up the top (as recommended by my pop top camper builder), close all of the doors/windows and run the ceiling fan on high, exhausting out and it will create a vacuum to help pull the canvas inwards while lowering. It works great and helps prevent any pinching of the canvas.
Should of went with an insulated canvas/vinyl. You lose a lot of heat/cold and means the AC will be drawing more juice. The difference on mine was significant, I own the white canter with the 79eatr plates you just about broke your neck looking at the other day
I was watching your air conditioning episode. Thinking you may use a split system. To keep it out of the mud and trees. Putting the motor on the back area. Oh! No. Stop. Drilling holes in you $100.000 car. Oh, um. It's for the air conditioning. That's or right.
Just a thought, but to protect your rooftop aircon you can always make somethimg similar to a motorcycle sump guard with ventilation holes shaped to defect branches away from the unit. Wouldn't be that difficult to make.
I'm seeing a lot of light through those zips, I hope they're waterproof. While you're doing all of this, which was possibly weeks ago in real time, maybe think ahead about making some sort of awnings for the zip down windows. Can't imagine you guys with your energy being stuck in there in a downpour with all the windows zipped up tight. Looking good, fuck I wish I had an OKA instead of just my Troopy and camper trailer. Very jealous! Well done guy and girls.
We’ve got this covered! Around the zips there is plastic flashings - the guys who did our pop top have years of experience and have done an incredible job!!
Do yourself a huge favor and get the Memory Foam Mattress from Clark Rubber they have different selection and can cut to size we travel full time best decision we Made! See you on the road!
Coming along just nice K&M, having a comfortable mattress is key for a good camp. It's not a good time of year in your neck of the woods to be camping out at present.
