If your new to 4wding you may find yourself bogged on the beach with limited or no recovery gear. In this video I show how you can dig your 4x4 out of the situation.
Remember if you going 4wding carry your basics: Air Compressor, Long Handled Shovel, Snatch strap + D Shackles.

Been stuck many times in remote central Florida soft sand... best points of this video. 1. when you feel you are getting stuck do not spin, just STOP and get out. 2. deflate tires 3. The advice on rocking back and forward (without spinning) to harden the ground! I have also found it valuable if you have access to water and debris wet the dig and fill it with debris (I have tones of pine cones where I am and they work great. But nothing like the peace of mind that comes with planning, letting somebody know where you will be and being ready with recovery gear, emergency supplies, charged tools and even provisions to last you a few nights... oh and never panic, if it get's dark, set camp and crack open a beer.

Dude this happened to me a few years back. I was driving through sand in the California desert and came across an old shack I wanted to check out. Got out and looked around for 4-5 minutes and when I came back MY TRUCK HAD SUNK TO THE AXLES LOL. No biggie I’ll dig it out... nope. My son had pulled out my short shovel to play with a few days earlier. Had to dig the whole thing out using nothing but a tiny piece of brittle stucco from one of the walls. Took FOREVER LoL Great video. Made my laugh so hard when you said, “ now you can’t get upset because it’s your fault you’re in this situation”. Those were my thoughts exactly.

"You can’t get upset because it’s your fault"? I don't know, I find that swearing makes me feel better. @muhammetcakmak2127
@muhammetcakmak2127 5 лет назад
@@rxonmymind8362 if your car has an automatic gearbox brake activates the clutch and it won't work. If your car has manual gearbox, footbrake tecnichally work as an diff lock for four wheels but generally foot brakes much more stronger than handbrake that means when u use footbrake, engine can't turn the wheels. By the way there is another solution when your car is boged: You can tie a strong wood or pipe to outer side of your wheels using blanks on your rims. this piece should be a couple inches longer than diameter of wheels. If u do that strong enough and correctly, it will definitely unbog your wehicle and this works on sand, mud and snow.

Everyone's saying floor mats don't work. Obviously they've never tried using them. They're not MAXTRAX. They aren't rigid. They aren't used to build a bridge out of the hole you dug, but they do help give you a little extra traction and help keep you from sinking deeper.

The old prado was stuck just like this but on a 30 degree left to right slope so couldn't pitch the roof top tent. Slept on the sand overnight and worked out I'd have to do exactly what you showed on the vid. Used my hands to totally clear the undercarriage, made a sand ramp to reverse out, dropped tyre pressure and emptied the car of all the camping gear to lighten it. Reversed straight out after all that and saved ourselves a grand quoted by some bloke to come get us out. Only extra I did was try and lighten the car by emptying it. It was refreshing though to watch this and think yeah we did the right thing! Great vid mate as can guarantee from experience it works.

Yep...tried taking the bush road home in winter, was doing really well but then couldn't stay on the road. A skidoo was through before the last snow fall. So i was slidding around, so decided that was enough and got stuck when turning around. Used the shovel to whack some brush and ratchet strap on each tire. Used the mats and brush to bite into. Was enough to turn around threw everthing in the truck and followed my tracks out. F250 with 8 inch lift and 38 tires. I miss that old rust bucket.

do you suppose a garden hoe would be useful to drag the sand out from the frame?

I'm no recovery expert but I'd imagine that would work.

this is why i cary a multiple digging tools. no one tool is the best tool for the job. yes a shovel will get you out of a bind but when another tool will take 20 min off the digging time and make the job easier.

So I hit the beach for my first off road adventure. I've driven short distances on popular beaches before but this was away from the crowds. I did a decent trek along the beach. Found a good spot, parked up did some fishing etc. Didn't reasise a wave had splashed far enough up my leg to wet my key. Got back to the 4WD and the immobiliser wouldn't turn off. I tried everything but ended up calling an auto electrician. $800 later I'm home.

I just watched your video this morning and headed to Oceana Dunes at Pismo Beach in California. A Silverado got stuck in the sand with no recovery gear. I did have a pair of traction board's and another did as well, but your advice on seeing daylight under the vehicle helped out big time, thanks!

Yeah this works but if you don't do it just right you'll only get half a turn before it smack into your bodywork or worse.

@@thomasbarlow4223 lol hes talking about the valve stem. If a little stick broke off in there and got stuck, you would have to dig it out quickly or lose all your air. Lowkey may have broke a stick off in a valvestem before. 👀

How about you simply never go out without recovery gear and tire deflation.
