Bogner Helios Eclipse!! First impressions and LOOK INSIDE!

The time has come to venture into Bogner territory. I have bought a Bogner Helios Eclipse and in this video I'm just playing around with the amp and testing all the channels and modes.

This amp, IMO, is right there with an SLO....maybe even a bit better (if we're comparing the MkII SLO's). But, at $3K+, for him to half-ass the clean channel is unforgivable. It's the only reason I haven't purchased on yet. But, that percussive gain is beyond spectacular.

Excellent demo......thank you. Helios Eclipse has the most parts I've ever seen crammed into a point to point wired amplifier. Soooo much going on under the hood. The little micro buildups of capacitors ect......is pretty impressive. A literal Matrix of wiring. One of the best reviews I've seen on this amp. Thanks for the pics.

It's not point-to-point, it's hand wired. There's a difference.

The manual says “point-to-point & handwired.”

@@craigoriopequeño505 As it was explained to me, true point-to-point only exists when components are soldered to each other, end to end, in a chain. When they are mounted on a tag board (where they do not touch each other), that is hand-wired. I think the terminology is misused in the industry because the general public does not understand it, and the industry goes along with it.

It's not point-to-point. It's hand-wired on a turret board. If it were true point-to-point, all components would be end-to-end soldered directly to each other in a long chain. No one I know actually makes a true point-to-point amp.

I don' t know why, but this amp seems to not have caught on. Does that seem correct? I really don't hear much about them anymore. I have it with the 4x12 cab and there are very few amps anywhere near as good. Great Video by the way.

Great video! I love my Helios 100. Does the EQ work for Channel 1? I thought I had read that it's only volume, bright switches, and the back panel presence and bottom knobs. Cheers!

If he's playing the helios eclipse . The only controls on the clean are a volume and 3 wat toggle for 3 diff voicing . And they all sound real good 👍

So, fine demo but why is there a massive wall of FX? Had been better with the amp only.

Isn’t it using diodes in the 80’s mode? Kind of similar to a Jose circuit. The volume drops a fair bit when you hit 80’s mode which is common when switching in diodes.

Emil did you just get your amp brand new? reason why Im asking is when I purchased mine about a year ago, it did not have the JJ preamp tubes in it, and they told me that bogner decided to change the tubes at the last minute so I think I was ripped.

Interesting, I did not. Bought it second hand but the previous owner had just had it for a little while and had not replaced the tubes. I'm not a huge fan of JJ tubes. What tubes were in yours?

Great Vid! I have an Uber to cover my metal tones and just sold my JTM to buy an eclipse. So far I think it hits those tones and then some! Is that a JP-2c under it?

How do you set your strat up to play like that on it. Seems impossible to play anything remotely like that on my fender American original 50s strat, possible because of the huge neck? But definitely interested in your set up methods.

Its not really adjusted very well to be honest. Need to do something about that but I think its fairly comfortable. Its pretty low action but can probably be lower. Im using 009 strings. Im just used to playing strats, have been my whole life. I like the fat neck, i also have a shred ibanez but that neck feels to thin 👍

what bridge pickup is in your strat, you state american strat with original pickups theres only one or two with half colored bridge pickups that I know of, but none I know of with full black bridge pickup. thanks!

Yes I messed up that description, just copied and old one in. They're not original. Neck and middle is Fender custom shop and The bridge is a mystery pickup i bought at guitar center in Hollywood almost 20 years ago. I still dont know what it is but it sounds amazing to me 👍

Hey try cranking the amp up to large venue volumes, youll find the amp lacks punch and girth and sounds like a small 20 watt amp, thus why everyone sends them back or sells them. they sound great at lower volumes.
