SUBSCRIBE for more videos! Reinhold Bogner gives an overview tour of the Wessex, Burnley and Harlow pedals controls and features. Watch as he explains in detail each controls purpose while listening to the soundtrack created by Greg V. playing through each pedal plugged into a Fender Silverface Deluxe Reverb.
Masterminds Reinhold Bogner and Mr. Rupert Neve have teamed up to produce superb audio-effects pedals that serve up rich, buttery tones, ultra-dynamic response and a stunning three-dimensional sound quality inspired by the classic mixing consoles of the 1960's.
This new line of pedals feature transformers designed by Rupert Neve Designs. Each transformer is unique and specifically designed to perfectly pair with the 100% analog audio circuit of each model.
The Studio Series gives you the same sonic bliss featured with a Bubinga exotic hardwood top panel, reminiscent of the vintage mixing consoles from the 60's. Each panel is formed, sanded, layered and finished by hand.
These Bogner pedals feature an audio transformer designed by Mr. Rupert Neve of Rupert Neve Designs. The word/name Neve® is a registered trademark of AMS Neve Ltd. and is in no way affiliated with this product.

Just came here to say that a Burnley came to my hands. Plugged in and played for 5 minutes. IT IS THE MOST FANTASTIC DISTORTION PEDAL I EVER PLAYED. I buy and sell lots of pedals as a hobby.Tryed everything. Rats, Ocds, muffs, mxrs, tube pedals, op amp, germanium, silicon blablabla... never got so impressed and instantly addicted to a sound. So glassy. Organic. Responsive. Rich tone. Can't wait to try the others of the series. The blinking led is a charm. Damn. Amazing pedal.

+1 Bogners have a dirtier tone and not enough clean headroom on most of their amps to demo pedals; the Barcelona excepted.

Men, I like the attitude of Reginald Bogner and all his demos, weird and smart at the same time, Since I can't afford one of his amps, I'll shot for the pedals, ;)

***** When you build amazing amplifiers such as Bogner, you have the permission to kill any muppet or cartoon character and wear them as a hat. I own the Bogner Helios 100, I feel no shame the Cookie Monster was sacrificed in the making of it. And besides, it looks cool on Reinhold Bogner simply because he is, 'the' Reinhold Bogner. Salute!*

@BOGNER , May I please ask a question regarding the Harlow Pedal (V1 and V2). So, the bloom control, is it an actual Compressor(and if so, what kind,VCA?) , or is it acheiving compression through other means like, saturating/clipping the transformer? Also If it is just a regular compressor, is the transformer linked/working with the compressor, Or is it more like how you mentioned the output transformers of a console, Is it more in there for that reason, and just having the transformer in the signal path, and depending how hard you hit it/drive the pedal, will give you some transformer colouration?

So now I defy YOU to come out with a Mark II version of the Ecstasy red, Ecstasy blue and Uberschall pedals with the NEVE transformer for US tone Merchants and lovers of great tone.......DO IT....it will sell!!!
@SGspecial84

marketing bs. A Neve transformer in a guitar amp will be no more superior than any other high quality transformer on the market.
@RVevolution
@RVevolution 4 года назад
@@SGspecial84 I believe he's referring to the Bogner amp in a box distortion FX pedals, not the actual amps. I've never tried a transformer based pedal, but guessing the OC above suggested those AIAB pedals with transformers thinking maybe they'd have better & more amp like tone, harmonics, dynamics, etc. It would stand to reason that Audio transformers built to the same design of same materials by different builders would indeed sound essentially the same, the differences (and good portion of why Neve is well known) is in the DESIGN of the transformer, which certainly has significant impact on things, so having a well designed transformer that matches well to intended use & sound can make significant difference, which is why R Bogner states Neve helped them design each transformer specifically for each model of pedal.
@SGspecial84
@SGspecial84 4 года назад
@@RVevolution Actually, design in itself does not equate to an interesting sound if we're speaking in terms of guitar amplifiers or even effects pedals. We've observed this with other components as well. Those old Astron caps sound better than a very well made modern audiophile capacitor. The same goes with the transformer...we're looking for interesting textures, not perfect audio replication. What is important is reliability. Many times the DESIGN of such components are inferior from a high end audio standpoint, but have lead to interesting tonal variations for music.
@RVevolution
@RVevolution 4 года назад
@@SGspecial84 absolutely on caps and 30+ year old tubes (for most things in most ways anyways), pickups and even wire to an extent depending on purpose. I wasn't referring to hifi transformers or trying to obtain perfect fidelity, I'm well aware what makes guitar stuff musical & interesting are the various combinations of imperfections. Maybe design isn't the perfect word, combination of engineering, experience, craft/art when combining specific elements like various aspects of the transformer like the wire, how the wind is done, material properties, grain orientation, nunber of laminations, the size, etc, V, A, R, etc when creating a transformer with his experience when creating 1 with whatever intended properties & characteristics for that particular design, etc. Point remains I believe the OC meant he thinks a Neve transformer designed version of those AIAB pedals could be more amp like or better in some fashion. Don't know if that would be the case or not as I mentioned before, but could be interesting endeavors.

I run generic iso transformers and routing configurations as my "distortion" channel... it is the only thing on my insert... and notice the difference, and I can play with it, and notice the difference. This isn't the placebo effect, this is me actually playing with shit, and seeing what 4 pack of shit that I only needed for two inputs can do when you use them right. Transformers are a strange thing. Their impact is audible, but you have to figure out how to use them, because all they really do is trap and release audio in a .agnetic field. On their own, transformers are sort of like a buffer, they sort of behave like a high distortion buffer? In any case, I am running a setup where I have an acoustic guitar with som generic mics, and some hum isolators with some wiley cabling going into the insert path on my silly little mic channels, and these generic iso transformers make a noticeable 4ifgerence... maybe your pedals have brought you to the point where you can't hear anything, but unless you are completely deaf, you'd probably hear this... Aint no mojo, it's just catching and releasing your electrical sound in a magnetic field... fuck yeah, that matters.

What is Reinhold Bogner's secret? Why can he get these tones? It's the hat. It's gotta be the hat. The construction material, the hand-placed hair fibers, the position on his head... These are all carefully calibrated to maximise the output of the tone neurons in his brain to produce brainwaves of the exact frequency and amplitude necessary for the finest circuit ideas.

Now if we can only get Boogner to put a couple of tubes in all these pedals -transistors have their place just not the first 1 to 4 gain stages HINT HINT

***** No myth its called an 'opinion'. I like the pedals just want one that's valve based. Russia ,Europe and to a lesser extent Canada have been at it for years but NA over all seems a little behind. I appreciate your effort, but I think you over edited your work a bit. I didn't say I disliked the pedals. Bogner should be doing something similar to what Simon Jarrod does at Kingsley.
@kellyjackson7889
@kellyjackson7889 9 лет назад
***** You can google pics of the internals of his pedals. He has recently introduced the lower cost hybrid designs which you mentioned- as you correctly stated, the FET does not clip but pushes the 'full voltage' tube into OD (Hughes and Kettner have used this design for many products-inc their Tubemeister line). The rest of his original dual tube designs do not contain solid state devices in the signal path. As you know, its not about "better" but simply preference. Transformers are passive components, fundamentally different from valves and SS analogues. Yup filter/coupling caps certainly introduce a choice of compromises. If you look at various designs low/med/high gain from manufacturers and isolate the components of the preamp section there's more than enough room for them to fit and function correctly in a pedal format. Over the decades however people have made inferior devices which have spoiled the NA consumers view of such products. I agree that transformer driven designs certainly can have a preferable affect on sound/feel in comparison to typical diode/trans configs. I see the Burnley as a valid endeavour but Bogner's Ecstacy/Uber pedals should've been valve driven per the orig designs - he might as well just stop making tube amps altogether. There are several European makers who offer Bogner circuit tube preamp pedals.
