Hope you don't mind my transcribing a lot of this. I am going to be playing this on a chamber concert in the fall along with two other pieces that both require solo tuning so I'm glad to find that this works tuned a whole step down.
We as humans hate silence, and therefore we fill it with music. People with colds are impromptu percussionists who forgot to count their tacet bars and felt the need to play something anyway, and to do so at a time where absolutely everyone can hear it.
