This work undeservedly obscured by the 5 great symphonies Bohuslav Martinu composed at the same time.

Wunderschöne Interpretation dieses neoklassischen Konzerts mit seidigem Ton der Solovioline und perfekt vereinigten Tönen anderer Instrumente. Der zweite Satz klingt besonders schön und auch lyrisch. Der unvergleichliche Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut phrasierten Tempo und mit sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Einfach wunderbar!

Never been into neoclassicism much, but this great work really inspired me to do some research. Thank you so much for all these great uploads!

Amazing music...

This is anyway neo-classic. This is an east European who felt connected to the rhythmical genius of Stravinsky and a strong connection to Janacek. The neo-classic should have been connected to him but it was a strange French connection that claimed this style with a few Russians. Hindemith was also a Neo-Classic composer.

Martinu's 1st VC is a drab slice of neo-classical cardboard....but this decade-later neo-romantic piece scales the heights. Maybe he just had to get away from Europe to write some great music.
