BOILERGATE I Gaggia Classic Pro (EVO) (PART 1) 

Oh man, I was just about to order this machine. Sorry to hear that so many people are dealing with this problem. The idea that "just a small batch" of machines are affected by this issue doesn't seem to line up with the seemingly huge number of customers affected in both N. America and Europe. What really shocks me is how many times people in the comments and on forums saying that their machine is fine and then a second comment when they now notice that they actually have the same issue. I imagine that the issue is under-reported.

I have the gaggia classic pro, I clean the group with cafiza and descale the machine every 3 months and my gaggia is perfect, in April I will celebrate one year of having it, greetings from coloombia

I just bought one this month April 2024 I did notice water inside the water container hose which made me wonder. It definitely was new because everything was well wrapped. I’m wondering if the water was from them testing it out making sure it didn’t have that issue.?

Same issue with mine here in Greece after only few weeks of use. Purchased it back in November and have never done descaling due to filtered water I used since the very beginning.

If you want to really see if you're getting this issue run hot water through the steam wand with the tip off of it. It will more than likely be a lot more than this coming out.

Yeah I was aware the EVO was the one they coated the boiler with a coating like the old fry pans that flaked off. Scarey stuff. I'd be worried about the long term health risks with consuming PTFE or whatever they used more than the replacement boiler. When Phillips bought Gaggia in 2015 the quality dropped immediately like what happened to Cuisinart.

Which year it's manufactured? I heard this about Evo model. Is it Evo or classic?

I wonder if many folks are using regular tap water and that is causing the issues. I use filtered water and have not had any issues at all after 4 months

Gaggia should just use a stainless boiler and never have to worry about this. Teflon coatings are a bad idea.

From EU same problem , never descaling it , just with cafisa and after nor even 2 months boiler gate . Mein in from this year

Can you try running hot water out of the steam wand and see if you still see particles?

But this substance hasn’t been tested in a lab to confirm it is Teflon , it may just be coffee from in the group head or scale from bad water. Plus when making coffee it’s not going to get through the compressed coffee?

I'm curious how many customers do not have any issues? I bought my Evo in Europe in March 2023. Until no issues at all. I went for the Evo because of the new group head and i never liked the idea of the traditional alu boiler. But it's all very alarming. If i had known it before i would never have bought any GCP

What was the manufacture date of your machine? I have this issue too and have been drinking boiler coating since the beginning of August.

Had the same dust in my cup with Gaggia Classic from 2001, and the only solution is to buy compatible brass boiler for Gaggia classic :( .. Switched to DeLonghi ECP o_O

I'm from Europe. Same issue, I don't believe it's just a single batch. I've replaced my boiler with an uncoated one.

Did you notice this after your first descaling? Havent descaled yet and I'm not noticing anything. Also Evo pro owner in the eu

gaggia must make stainlees internal boiler lining or massive brass boiler

No worries 1. These particles cannot pass through the coffee tablet. 2. Teflon does not dissolve in water just use and relax

I think it'd be better to replace it with 2019-2022 model , new classic or classic pro

Yes, I have the same problem, Gaggia claims that it is a very limited problem, a few isolated cases in the EU and that this would be due to them using too strong descaling agent!

Make sure you return it within the window. WLL are known to be dicks about customer service and might try to fight you on it.

All I've gotten out of them is "we'll get back to you". I want my $700 back or a new boiler without this coating and I wanted it...weeks ago. Thieves.

Thats not the only thing you need to backflush....good thing your head is completely clean. Big coffee guy

That's the end of Gaggia! Pleasee use your warranty and demand refund. Buy Breville or Profitec.

who told you to backflash with cafiza man from the company that doesnt allowed man! just descaling with descale i have the mashine almost 5 months filled only from filtered+ quartz crystals with 2 coffes per day 1 time descalced over 3 months with no problems so long maybe just few minerals counted by the naked eye. but not cafiza man you will ruin the coating of the boiler....

Let me make a few practical comments not sure why any one would run a cleaning solution through there machine after only owning it a month that must bee some extreme hard water I have a hard time believing any of that debris will make it past the shower screen let alone the espresso Puck I personally use a pepper filter on the bottom of the Portafilter and have not seen any debris I do have an evo purchased last December I have tested with no wand tip also have tested with the group head taken apart so I get a clean stream of water with no filtration again no debris my usage is I make about 6 espressos every day or around 40-45 espresso every week no problems yet I have not back flushed it tk be clear maybe thats when the problems start I don't think I will start flushing it until it has seen 4-5 months of use I use well water not city water or bottled water also just a not I will most likely run a light solution 25% of white viniger 75% distilled water through the machine once every 3-5 months starting after 5 months of use I will up date I love this machine if mine shows up with a problem I will just request a new uncoated boiler or just buy one it's a simple quick swap out I have never owned an espresso machine that did not require repair also I should note I mostly drink americano and use the steam wand maybe once week usually on weekends I do love a good espresso and heavy cream
