Remarquable. Je place très haut Bodin de Boismortier oublié depuis presque 3 siècles et qui égale pourtant de grands noms. Cette musique est excellente. Boismortier a souvent privilégié la flûte traversière qui semble avoir été son instrument favori. Il n'avait guère le loisir de composer pour de grands ensembles instrumentaux, n'ayant pas de mécène, éditant et vendant lui-même sa musique composée pour des amateurs à uns époque où l'on se piquait de jouer d'un instrument en compagnie, dans les salons de la bourgeoisie mais aussi de la petite noblesse qui ne pouvait entretenir un compositeur et un ensemble orchestral, même modeste. Boismortier tenait beaucoup à sa liberté et à son indépendance. C'est une exception et c'est une attitude très moderne.

Yep, the title is correct. These are baroque flauto traversi, wooden Traverse Flutes. That's why they play a bit larmoyant - and out of tune :-)

Can you tell me- are these performed on period instruments or modern flutes? It's actually hard to tell. Thanks.

A great bass, or Bassett recorder would have given the whole thing more bottom line.

Come spiega bene una risposta (in lingua spagnola) qui pubblicata ad un commento, si tratta di flauti travesieri, cioè flauti traversi barocchi, fatti di legno e a sezione conica e con una sezione conica. Insomma, il punto di mezzo fra i flauti diritti (che sono di legno per forza, anche se i più grandi hanno delle chiavi per le note più basse) e i flauti traversi metallici. Dolcezza derivante dal legno, con maggiore morbidezza rispetto ai flauti diritti
