Naj, you think its so funny because the characters/actors have grown on you…. If you out other actors there its nothing new now. All of the jokes are basically old, i mean holo deck being a VR fuckstation Thsts old as time
"guys! guys! holy shit i had a dream where we were in space and cricket was a space captain, and artemis and dee were space sluts, and we were all like spaceship inspec-" "im just gonna stop you right there because theres no universe where i would ever be working such a menial job, i would be a badass space pirate and take whatever i want" "chahlie, what you say about artemis?! you bettah not be huffin shit together and bangin shes my hoor!" "woah frank you know id never do that shes way too fat but yeah you know had one of those nights and drank like three different colors of paint and some superglue and finished off on paint thinner." *the gang all stare at charlie in horror, except frank who has his gun whipped out screaming incoherently that he thinks charlie lied and banged artemis* *cut to title: CHARLIE GETS HIS STOMACH PUMPED*
@Leto_0 i laughed my arse off on the pilot of Sunny. Im not saying it's horrible, but it definitely needed a lot of work. I'd like to see them redo it after all these years with how better their writing is.
This is actually an amazing concept. I love the cast, I love the premise, and the creative potential is so far ahead of something like The Orville which came out a full 8 years later.
@@slayerofthebuzz1 I would watch Red Dwarf as a kid. It would play after the old Hitchhiker’s Guide episodes on some UHF channel in the States. I love me some British sit-coms, but RD never did it for me. I’ve tried a couple times since, and I need to admit that I don’t really like it.
Orville works coz theres some level of competency with the crew, this pilot was a ship of fools in space, how they don't end up killing themself is a big question.
For a pilot of a cancelled project this is one of the few that is actually pretty good. I wish this could be integrated into IASIP as a fever dream or something with the gang.
When Glen yelled “MANIACS!” I was so hoping he would follow with “IDIOTS! IIIIDIOTS!!!” Also, got to say, the face he made when gazing upon Cobalt’s posing was quite… familiar.
glenn's shirt being built explicitly to look like it has a tie when it doesn't is the most star trek shit i've ever seen, unbelievably stupid n that's what makes it good
Hey man a Wins a win!!! You held up your end of the bargain, mail that 4 bux into Glenn / Charlie / Rob DEMANDING that make season 1 at least!!!! Lol I think this would hold up in court
I would legitimately love to see a whole universe of shows made by the Sunny crew with similar casts like this. If Mythic Quest is even a small indicator then they've 100% got the goods. As much as I love Sunny, after seeing this I don't mind if it ever ends now, so long as they start trying to get this show going again.
Exactly. Didn't even seem that expensive, either. Although, probably way more expensive that just filming on the street and other pre-built locations, and without CGI. But still, sad this wasn't made.
The comedy doesn't have to always orbit the concept or stay in its language. The scene where Colbalt is showing off his trophies is funny without the sifi concept. Thats why these guys are just good writters
@Justin C a lot of space set stories can be swapped out with under the sea type, guy who created Lost in Space used to recycle shit for his underwater show all the time
This was hilarious. Definitely has that always Sunny energy. Now that we’re in the streaming age they should have another crack at this once mythic quest is done
Holy hell, thanks for the hot tip on Mythic Quest. Season 1: 90% tomatometer nonsense. Season 2... 100%. Out of 35ish reviews. That is a steamy pile of comedy right there lads.
I had no idea this existed. So sad it didn't get picked up. I've loved Chad Coleman since The Wire, and it's hilarious seeing him play this unhinged chief of security. Hopefully the Always Sunny crew can still make something like this happen. Reminds me a little of Red Dwarf too, one of my old school favorites.
Always sunny is my favorite show. For them to create this pilot for something that could have been a 100% masterpiece in 2008… this is truly a tragedy to not be a part of my life until now… plus cricket being cricket
HOW DID THIS SHOW NOT GET PICKED UP???!!! Pilot episodes are never as good as the rest of the series because the writers need time to figure out the casts' strengths and so on, but Boldly Going Nowhere is already so good! It's legitimately hilarious (and I mean big laughs not chuckles), the characters are all distinct and likeable enough that you want to see more of them (even if they're clearly not good people) and interesting enough that you could probably get a lot of comedy out of pairing them up in different ways and exploring their dynamics, the setting is full of opportunities for stories (in so many genres!)... why would you not let them make AT LEAST one or two seasons of this??? I hope Charlie, Glenn and Rob can still do something with this premise someday. Also they need to give Chad L. Coleman more to do, especially with David Hornsby and Glenn, because that's untapped comedy gold right there!
@@abcdefg2120 You are kidding right? It's an amazing show and got even better after the first season. It does Star Trek better than Star Trek does now.
@@Chaogod1233 Do you find it funny? Because all the people who seem to like it compare it favorably to Star Trek, which is notably not a comedy. If it used the premise of being a space faring comedy as a Trojan horse to get picked up and then abandoned the premise entirely, power to the people who like it. For the two episodes I could stomach watching it though, it did attempt to make jokes out of a sense of obligation and not any sincere attempt at humor. As it stands I find it to be a far inferior show to other space comedies that have been cancelled far too soon, such as Avenue 5, SpaceForce, and now I can add this solitary pilot to space comedies far better than the Orville that got much less of a chance. In addition to thinking the premise of a workplace comedy on a spaceship sounded great, I’m also generally a big fan of Seth McFarlene’s animations so I had high hopes for Orville. I really wanted to like it.
Glenn as a lieutenant inspector! Perfect😂 Tony Hale as a space robot?! The characters and casting are top freaking tier! Sunny meets VEEP in a way I didn’t know I needed. How did this show not make it? So much potential! I’d pay for a whole new subscription just to get access to this gold mine. This is a work of art, and it’s an absolute crime there isn’t more. I really hope they get back to it.
the way chad delivers that line about how he was chewing the gum with such anger is gold edit: i just got to the scene where hes posing for glenn to that music lmfaoo
Imagine if they decided pilots by posting onto RU-vid for free, that show and if it got to a certain amount of thumbs up or views it got picked up. Honestly this is how they should decide on pilots. Let the public opinion decide, not some suits with other agendas, in an office who think they’re better than everyone else.
I thought this was lost. So happy to watch this. Also hearing Road to Nowhere was fantastic. Such a shame this didn't get picked up. This would've seriously been incredible. Seriously one of the best pilot episodes I've seen.
Omg if they only made this like 5 years later. Like 2009 was post Nightman Cometh so I’m sure they were feeling invincible, but the show still had a couple more seasons of people needing to catch up before it became the phenomenon it is now, before Netflix and Hulu streaming etc. I didn’t even give it a chance until coworkers insisted I watch it, in 2015. If they made this today it would go straight to series and on FX or Apple TV
I came here after my google search of where to watch the pilot for It's always sunny after hearing Olson wasnt the original actress to play Dee. I had to pause a couple minutes into this vid to comment because this was a curve all I didnt see coming lol. I mean this shit is practically blowing my mind. So I had to take the moment to say thank you for ever found & posted this.
@@johnman84 or they’d open the air lock without a space suit cuz Charlie’s always wanted to walk on sunshine/ be on top of the world/ first man to walk on space without a suit
I wish this would have launched, but now knowing that the cast was not really going to be on it because they planned to replace all of them so they could continue always sunny, the pilot really does not show much.
Thank you YT for getting into the fiber of my being better than I ever can and suggesting this under 200k middle of nowhere video. Absolutely fucking perfection.
I think if this pilot had been made today it absolutly would have been picked up. there's been a number of successful sci fi based sitcoms in recent years that are doing well, so my guess is that thing just came down the line at a time where a show like this seemed like more of a risk to the network.
