Fair but she uses her water bending powers to create arms out of water, though I'd imagine doing crafts with paper would still be very hard when your hands are literally made of water. Plus she wouldn't have gotten any water from anywhere in prison.
Interesting to see how Ghazan and Ming Hua started talking about their imprisonment as if they were releasing the trauma of 13 years. Bolin would have made a great therapist, in my opinion.
He will be a great therapist because he is a good brother, boyfriend and friend. I mean come on how Korra chose Mako instead of Bolin. But I think is good too because met Opal.
Huh. Maybe that could’ve been part of a season 5 thing where after the gang fixed up republic city after Korra and Asmami got back from their vacation in the spirit world they all go searching for second careers. I could go on forever about possible new seasons and series honestly but that’s what the creators and the comics are for.
@@amaliaioan2697 cuase bolín gets along with friendly poeple who have a life ; Korra is too serious which doesn’t mix well with bolins personality eska was sexy and dominant and embarrassing which bolín really felt a bond for ; opals natural sensitive personality made it easy for bolin too make a move on and red head was hot and flirty and expendable so she was perfect too. If I where mako I would marry the factory girl ASAP she’s perfect cuase korras too busy with her crazy problems too have a love life
Alternatively, Zaheer: "I've been shipping the two of them for over a decade. If he'd managed to make them admit their feelings to one another, I'd have let him and his brother go free."
I think Zuko wanted to forget the "yesterday's enemy is today's friend" thing. Pretty sure he regretted and wanted no one to know abt it.... except maybe Korra bc Iroh told her
@@JamaicaZ160R1793010A of course not every villain can be redeemed or go friendly or been fair but some of them are remorseful and redeemable and change for bad to good and see the difference between right and wrong.
@@vincentfichtler7758 I didn't ever say that. I meant it wasn't gonna work with them and someone said they'd open up and let something slip when that wasn't gonna happen. However it's realistic that some villains don't change their ways while others do.
Lava bending seems to be a personality thing if you’re not the avatar. Instead of being stubborn(like most earthbenders), both men seem like very relaxed, go with the flow characters.
@@millienne8201 that actually makes sense and might actually be the reason. Like how lighting bending was made by coping water bending techniques. Like if you have a personality that matches an different way of bending your bending can change with you.
Ironically Mako did pretty much everything wrong while Bolin did everything right. Mako agitated the kidnappers which is pretty much the worst thing you can do. Bolin got them relaxed, made friends with them (which would make them less likely to kill him unless necessary) and was even pumping them out of information. If Mako let him have a 5 minute conversation he could probably get the info Mako wanted to know
Well regardless of what Mako did(told Bolin to shut up), Zaheer asked Ghazan to gag them anyway. So I don't think Bolin would've had 5 more minutes with them even if Mako hadn't told him to stop making friends with the bad guys.
@@motherofallomelets381 azula is an incredible and interesting villian tho. And if u think about it, Ozai is the most unique villian just by not being unique lol. Every villian in the show has something interesting about them except for him lmao so he's one of a kind
The lotus have a lot of interesting things too them it’s hard not too start questioning them even spending their life In prison they still make their own story’s in their head.
Literally Ghazan even seems to like Bolin when they fight and he shows lavabending where Ghazan is trying to get the job done but its really nothing personal with him.
This is one of my favorite scenes in the whole LOK series. It just made these 'villains' more human to me and that they are actual characters and not just paper dolls led by Zaheer.
@@kermitthefrogg3450 mastering the sub elements would be a deadly combination, imagine lava bending, metal bending, blood bending, air bending flying AND lightning bending. You could completely destroy any master of their element.
@@ultimatebishoujo29 Too bad his romantic relationship history is garbage. Being friends is one thing, but the poor boy just can't seem to handle intimacy.
@@EmptyMan000 Well Bolin now has Opal, so he’s been able to succeed with his romantic relationships after the Korra/Mako incident and his “relationship” with Eska.
"Oh, I would have killed for some rain." Dang, I didn't realise the significance of that line the first time round. She's a water-bender. Of course they didn't let her near rain.
@@ajdominguez1002 She killed the guards either way. She flung some of them into the magma of her volcano prison the minute she got enough water to bend.
I like to think that Zaheer was enjoying Bolin's chitchat and that's why he waited until after Mako told him off. Another classic episode of Mako's Unfortunate Choices. Love these humanising-yet-not-excusing villain moments.
He's not too friendly, he just uses his gut feeling, like Aang and Ikki did one time with the bad guys. After this scene, I wanted some kind of redemption from Minghua and Ghazan, I would have loved if they didn't die... plus, this would have been such a good opportunity to get to know the Red Lotus better and expand some knowledge on lavabending, making Ghazan become Bolin's master or smth. Apparently, being friendly with the bad guys it's a good option sometimes. The period of time in which Bolin worked for Kuvira, helped the team avatar being aware of her plans. Him ending up with the "wrong people" was kind of beneficial, not only for future missions, but also for himself, because during those three years, he became more skilled, indipendent and mature, as well as the fact that it helped him building self-worth and confidence and it made him focus more on himself as an individual, instead of thinking of his self as just "the little brother", or someone who was just an addition for the team. Bolin's spontaneous nature, became really handy in those situations.
@@laurajanco2i That wasn't a gut thing. Hes literally just being friendly to everybody, including ppl who take advantage of him. The difference with Ikki and Aang is They only talked to their captors and could leave whenever they wanted, While Bolin did bad stuff with them which Aang or Ikki would never do.
@@LaptapGamer I know Bolin is gullible and stuff, but he doesn't do the things that bad guys do, if he knows they are bad (same with Kuvira). he's naive but he's not stupid...once he understands, he's out of there. So no, I don't think he's friendy with everybody. In this case he doesn't wanna take infos from them and he's just spending this time asking them questions instead of staying shut or instead of threatening them like Mako (both valid rections).
I love how Mako is essentially speaking as the audience in the first 20 seconds with pointing out supposed plotholes you might think about the Red Lotus’s actions. 😅😅
i think its eventually explained that they wanted the avatar gone for good - if you remember all the way back in ATLA, if you kill the avatar while they are in the avatar state, the avatar cycle ends. thats what they tried to do in the finale.
@@HueManatee I actually do remember that from the book 2 finale of Avatar when Azula struck Aang while he was in his avatar state. I just mostly commented regarding how Mako sounded like the type of questions the audience would be asking but I definitely knew that them killing Korra during the night in Zaofu wasn’t going to work because the avatar would have been reincarnated so they needed her alive and have to force her into the state in order for it to work.
@@Lauren_210 yeah youre right he does sound like that! maybe it was on purpose to show the writers were aware that there were some unanswered questions and wanted to reassure the audience that its a genuine mystery and not a plot hole
@@HueManatee It is. but it is a great way to go "Hey audience! Look! It wasn't a plothole! We actually planned it, okay?!" said by the character in a fairly believeable way.
@@HueManatee Can you really call it a mystery when it was very CLEARLY explained in Avatar: the last airbender that the only way to truely kill the avatar was by killing them while they were in their avatar state.
@@hollyhuntington4433 they explain it in the show. Zaheer & his gang tried abducting Korra as a kid to indoctrinate her and got arrested by Tenzin,Zuko, Tonraq(Korra’s dad) and Sokka. Its why they were all in jail
Ghazan's eyes widening when Ming-Hua avert her gaze always crack me up, as if he was going to say that Bolin had gotten one out of three but then corrects to two out of three after that.
Ghazan and Minghua are honestly really good at their bending. The way minghua uses water as her arms, LIKE LITERALLY HER ARMS, is really amazing. Ghazan is a super chill guy who could possibly be friends with team avatar if he wasn't in the red lotus. And his lavabending is INSANE. He makes it look easy, honestly.
The way how Ming Hua looked away so fast kind of confirms she doesn’t see him like that, plus she referred to him as an “Ugly mug” after they broke her out
This is my favourite bolin scene. It's so quintessentially bolin. His ability to charm and be friendly to literally anyone is so fun and wholesome to watch. he creates a dialogue and unwittingly humanizes both himself and the people trying to hurt him; can't help but love and admire him
I like how Ghazan was surprised by ming hua looking away like he didn't expect it "Okay, he got one right. (After Bolin says the third part) Damn, he's good."
Bolin: older sister, mustache at 10 and unspoken feelings for ming. Ming and ghazan look at eachother- Ming looks away and down trying to hide her face. Ghazan notices and smiles Bolin read him like a book!
Ghazan is one of those characters I'd have enjoyed seeing a redemption for. It would've been cool to see him kinda mentor or teach bolin the art of lava bending
from what i remember, didnt bolin warn to get out. But ghazan was adamant in dying rather than going back to prison. Mako didnt make friends with any of them, so him killing ming just felt normal
Mako talks. *Mission stuff, Ming Hua gives typical shut up and Ghazam plays "secret plan villainy"* Bolin talks *Ghazam and Ming Hua get surprisingly open with their lives in a casual conversation.*
nah, they like each other...plus, I wanted both of them to redeem themselves after this scene, it would have been awesome instead of just killing them off.
Bolin got 2 out of three correct. Pretty much confirmed they were attracted to eachother, so that leaves being raised by an older sister, or growing a moustache at the age of ten. And I think the latter is true.
Both Toph and Ty Lee liked Sokka. When Toph was unable to swim, Toph believed that Sokka saved her it was actually Suki and when Ty Lee saw Sokka in Ba Sing Se, she had a crush on him.
No, don't stop making friends with the bad guys. Empathy with your enemy helps you escape, or convert them to your side. Bolin is working that super Charisma stat of his to try and avoid a combat encounter. Smart move.
Not only that, but when your captors are out of reasons to keep you, they can either kill you or let you go. It's possible they chose the latter because of Bolin.
An unspoken attraction eh? I'm sensing it too Bolin. Also, can I just say that Ghazan has an amazing voice. He looks like another version of Jason Momoa in my opinion (because of the Tats).
honestly mako in this moment pissed me off, he of ALL people should know humanizing yourself in a hostage situation makes it less likely for the kidnapper to murder you, shows hes unintelligent
From Mako's perspective this very thing might stop Bolin from doing what is necessary because he is endearing the Red Lotus to himself. I don't think Bolin is in the wrong but if he made friends he might be hesitant to act when he otherwise wouldn't be.
So if someone attacked and kidnapped you like these guys did to bolin and mako you wouldn’t bag on them and talk to them like they’re human? That doesn’t make sense.
@@Dolphinboi Um... seeing as how talking crap to your captors is a good way to get your head lopped off, I would not talk down to them, no. Dependent on the situation would also determine hostility towards my captors. If I was captured by a bunch of evil sociopaths who just liked killing people, was using me for ransom, or tortured people I would not want to be civil. I would probably just not say anything. If I was captured by people who were fighting for a cause that wasn't morally bankrupt, had very little interest in actually harming me, and was doing good things for the world like ridding the world of a tyrannical queen, then I would be more apt to view them as people, than monsters.
I loved the chemestry between Bolin and Ghazan, they actually genuinly liked eachother, they were just fighting on opposite sides. Wish we'd got more screen time of the two together.
They could have escaped easily just by that, but given that one of the Red Lotus members is a combustion bender riding in that truck with them, it probably would have been harder for them to escape the truck because she could have threatened them with possibly killing them by firing a blast at them with her forehead. The gang might have had some water supply on hand for Ming-Wua to use on them in case they escaped and freeze them in solid ice. Also, Bolin can’t metalbend, so he wouldn’t have been able to get him and Mako out of that truck.
Rewatching this scene just made me realize something. Ghazan, Ming-hua and P'Li hadn't used their bending in 13 year. Then when they each get access to their respective powers again they all seamlessly flowed into masterful bending displays that aided their prison breaks. These guys are true masters.
Loved these guys. Red lotus were my favourite things bout this season. They were so powerful, gifted but had some chill moments with eachother. So unfortunate that they had to die, not even get arrested, freaking DIE!
Bolin, the closest one to have empathy/friendmaking bending power, he seems like a person so nice and warmhearted that he had the potential of making anyone he meets like him and wants to be his genuine and loyal friend, what a power that could be, that would be one of the most powerful thing if it existed in the Avatar universe.
the fact they actually answered with some sincerity just makes this interaction so fun and cute. while misguided and morally wrong according to the great audience, they were still human with human annoyances, human feelings, and human relations
1:03 that is the face of a man that is doing what he believes in without malice. he's a real actual human and this interaction speaks volume of at least how much the writers and animators cared about all their characters
