How can you put a price on the enormous effort to create a product and have it affordable? Pure craftsmanship! These hats should cost thousands!

My mother bought me a black Doeskin Bollman hat with flowers on the front when I was 8 years old. I'm 28 yrs old now and I still have my hat and it's in great condition. I'm glad I decided to look into the craftsmanship of my hat. Very informative video!

Very long but wonderful video! I had no idea it took all those processes to produce a hat. I came across this video in researching the Adamstown area where we'll be staying for a few days. I'll be looking for the "American Made Matters" label when buying future hats and I'll never look at a hat the same again. The CEO did a wonderful job narrating this video.

Enjoyed the tour verymuch. Have just started wool felting and was extremely impressed by your company and beautiful products. The processes the wool went through and so much hands on to detail explains the quality and longevity of your business. It was good to know that the hardships of the business have only made you more determined and more deeply rooted in American business. Congratulations!

I absolutely loved that tour, i had no idea of how much hands on processing was involved in making the coolest hats in the world. What an awesome family of workers and what great skills they bring to the final product, I wish them all the luck in the world, and if i get a chance to own one of their hats, i will certainly appreciate the quality and tradition that comes with owning one of their great products.

Great tour! I presently own the Bollman 140th anniversary series bowler(interesting it was referred to as a derby in the video,I'm aware of the historical difference in names yet Bollman does use the bowler moniker),homburg & topper.They are amazing hats & the quality is the best. Thank you for the amazing American made products😀I also own several Bailys hats as well and they are great quality for the cost.

Most excellent tour...I watched this presentation shortly after buying one of your companies hats...I was informed of this presentation by a very nice young lady that works for Hats.com...'Jessi' assisted me in the purchase of one of the Bollmans Heritage collection hats...the '1911 campaign' style hat. Congratulations on your 152 years of service...I salute..and I'm damn proud to know of an American company that is an 'icon' to the USA that has survived all these years...Keep up the GOOD work!

My hat's off to CEO Rongione, he obviously knows his business. I was impressed by how much 'hand labor' was involved. I was impressed with the promotion of "American Made Matters", which I had never heard of. This is a seven year old video, I wish good health to Rongione and all his hard working Hatters!

Great video, Thanks! It would also be interesting to see how fur felt hats are made. They are more expensive and I always wondered why?
@jameskann951
@jameskann951 3 года назад
Rabbit and the rarer Beaver Felts costs are significantly higher to manufacture. The Production Process is similar to Wool Felt which is better when processed into "Lite Felt" Wool. It depends on the Manufacturer also for the Price Point to sell the Hats.
@DrewH789
@DrewH789 3 года назад
@@jameskann951 Thanks for your reply. It seems that fur felt hats are out of style (except for western wear) and one of the reasons is the shops that cleaned and blocked them are mostly gone. too bad, because a broad brim adds a lot of "class" to a man's appearance.
@jameskann951
@jameskann951 3 года назад
@@DrewH789 Fur Felt Hats are still selling especially the Artists who make them by Hand. People still want dressy Hats it's paying for them that curbs that idea.

I am now certain that if I follow like 3 of these steps, I can make a pretty half-bad hat that is good enough for me. I don't even wear hats. Mostly because I don't want to invest in one, and I have too big of a head for the one size fits all hats. (I'm the kind of person that have to make at least one of anything I CAN make)

"This hat here was the indiana jones hat" Ummm... the Indy hats were made by Herbert Johnson, apart from the fourth film in which the hat was made by a fan company called Adventurebilt. Maybe that was a licenced hat, but even then I'm pretty sure the licensing rights for indy's hat belong to dorfman pacific and before them, stetson. To my knowledge the bollman hat company has never made an official Indy hat of any kind.
