Bolt Pretension Object Using Ansys Mechanical - Lesson 3

This video shows how bolt-preloading is applied by splitting a bolt into two parts and connecting them using a constraint equation to create a state of tension. This process can be performed easily in Ansys Mechanical using the Bolt Pretension Object feature of the software.

Giving temperature input to bolt can also do this job. Thermal strain can be taken as mechanical strain.

music in the background is very disturbing, I feel it can be played with less volume, you can focus on the words. The concept is explained very well...

You said pick the lower surface as mobile and upper surface as reference but you did the opposite in actual in translational joint. Is that we have to choose what you have said and not what you did.

In the using joint for preloading, you said that we must split the bolt into two sections, would you please explain where the split plane must be located?

If bolt is connecting two holes, without nut & bottom hole is threaded,how should we consider it in ansys workbench? Can we use beam with bolt pretension?
