Just a quick tip when using the wedge bolt anchors that Phil used in the video. I use these wedge bolts often in industrial and commercial construction. We drill the holes deep enough so if you ever abandon the hole you just drive the threaded part down into the concrete and patch with a little bit of concrete and you hardly know that there was an anchor there.

I recommend putting a waterproof rubber mat down if you are putting safe directly on concrete. I pulled mine up today and there was a ton of moisture under my safe.

I watched a few other videos before yours. I still had questions. I watched your video and they were answered. You obviously had your video planned out to cover each step with clear and concise instructions. Other videos looked like they were “winging” it. Thank you. For those that have to go through carpet I read you should run the drill bit backwards and the friction will melt a hole in the carpet and not snag it. We shall see.

Is that a high capacity assault drill with an extended anchor clip? I want to do this but theyre illegal in CA. 😅😅 Nice demo, quick and to the point. For a safe that small i think 2 bolts diagonal from each other would be fine. Those anchors are pretty legit.

Good video. I think I'd rather mark the holes, move the safe to drill the holes, then move the safe back. I prefer that over drilling from the inside of the safe. Some safes aren't large enough for this to be a safe procedure.

How do you remove the anchors? I'm sorry but I'm not understanding something here. I see the bolt being unscrewed but the anchor is permanent(?) and so is the big washer holding the safe down.... sooo how do remove it when you have to move the safe? Follow up video, maybe?
@PhilCrockett
@PhilCrockett 6 лет назад
The anchors are meant to be permanent. for example..... I had a gun safe at my old house that I bolted to the floor in this manner. When I moved to a new house and took my gun safe with me, I had to cut the anchor bolts even with that floor when I sold the house. Permanent.
@jayonez137
@jayonez137 3 года назад
For all my safes I use 1/2” grade 8 bolts that are 4” long. Drill the concrete with a 1 inch Masonary bit. Vacuum out the concrete dust from the hole and fill with Sika Super high strength Anchor bolt apoxy. Stick your bolt in with the bolt head down let it cure. The apoxy Is stronger than the concrete itself. 100% bombproof

If you are worry about humidity, flooding, and drilling into your concrete rebar. 1. Install next to interior walls. 2. Pour a concrete slab area at least 4-6 inches in height and enough area to cover safe. (Try to pour some close by a corner wall and directly on top of existing concrete to bond more to house foundation also watch a tutorial on how to bond existing concrete to new concrete) Drill concrete anchors for the safe to anchor on slab. Lay a nice thick sheet of plastic on top of slab 3. Put a hot rod dehumidifier inside safe. Use a hygrometer to keep moisture between 45 and 55%. Add a whole house dehumidifier if basement gets too humid.

@PhilCrockett
@PhilCrockett Год назад
I've never installed one on carpet, but I don't know why that wouldn't work. It's all about the bond between the concrete and the safe. You just have to deal with the holes in the carpet if you ever moved the safe or moved from the house.
