The season we (Ipswich) looked odds on to go down before Christmas, then had a great revival and should have stayed up, only to throw it away again. Sliding doors moment in our clubs history that season. Still saddens me to this day
Me and my "Season Ticket mates" would chuck a pound in at every home game, and each pick a score on a betting slip, then we'd put any winnings in a pot to be spent on a night out at the end of the season. I picked 4-1 at this game, and we went mad when Ipswich scored at the end. I can't remember the odds, but it payed for our curry and a few beers.
This game was just revenge for that night at Portman Road when Barry Knight played his last game for Ipswich Town. What was it, 11 yellow cards and 2 reds for Bolton, not one of either for Ipswich? I've never felt so cheated out of anything before or since than being robbed that night. But its us who have spent the best part of the decade in the top flight so I guess there's some justice. Thanks for this Bobic ma man! Sehr gut!
Makes great viewing after watching the match-fixed play off semi-final at Portman Road. Bolton got to the Premier League and relegated Ipswich themselves. Short of Barry Knight in a jail cell, this was justice was finally served.
@@MarlboroughBlenheim1 A referee books every single outfield player, half the subs bench, awards 2 red cards to players, sends the manager to the stands, awards 3 penalties, and doesn't so much as book ONE player on the opposing team despite repeated fouls/gamesmanship... I've a bridge for sale if you're interested?
@@Arfa_Tunn this is evidence that Bolton lost their heads, including their manager, and that ipswich didn’t. Bolton came to kick ipswich and stop them playing. Look at the fouls and penalties. As I’ve asked, which ones were not penalties or red cards? Please point those out to me. One of them involved David Johnson literally being picked up and thrown to the floor!
@WadzillaBhoy Yeah to be honest it was good battles with the likes of Ipswich, Watford, Charlton etc in Division One and it wasn't really Ipswich we hated after that game, more Knight. We were a bit rough but the treatment we got that night was outrageous. We'll do our best to send Norwich back where they came from for you next season.
